I enjoyed reading this celebration of the American freight train. This book discusses the development of freight cars and cabooses (or way cars) with easy-to-understand text and a number of photos. One photo that stands out is a homemade caboose on the Georgia Railroad at Augusta, GA. This caboose was fashioned from a wooden boxcar with steel ends. Any casual rail enthusiast will appreciate this book!
