There are surprisingly few books on the Holy Spirit, but this is one of the few I found at the library. I learned some things, agreed with parts, and disagreed with others.

This book is like any book that aims to help us in our daily walk with God. However, like every self-help book, it must be read with discernment. There are a great deal of life-affirming blessings to be absorbed in this book. Bishop Jakes is certainly knowledgeable in his grasp of scripture, but I do not agree with all of his viewpoints. I was blessed and encouraged that no matter who you are or how ineffective you feel, God has the power and the desire to adjust your thinking and make you into the person He wants you to be. Bishop Jakes's main point begins with the manifestation of spiritual giftings, which I find refreshing since many people shy away from gifts such as prophecy, speaking in tongues, and wise interpretation. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is an integral part of our in-depth relationship with God. It can and will bring you into a deeper and more intimate relationship with Him. While it is true that I didn't agree with all of his antiquated views, there was enough here to give me a boost and encouragement to let God work in me so I can be the best I can be for Him.

The author did a great job of pointing the reader to relevant passages in the Bible about the Holy Spirit. My expectation of what this book would afford me was not met; I wanted to understand practical ways to get closer to the Holy Spirit. I think this book would be great for a new comer to Christ or those struggling with accepting their past.
