When sunny and efficient Felicity Swan lands her dream job as PA to the new CEO of the Glenbriar Whisky Co., the dream soon turns into a nightmare. Gavin Sinclair isn’t what she expects.
Gavin’s only qualification for the job is that he’s the owner’s son. He knows he’s out of his depth but he doesn’t need his PA criticising the changes he wants to make.
Questioning his business decisions isn’t the only way Felicity makes Gavin hot under the collar. He can’t get her out of his mind. But dating an employee is strictly off-limits, especially one ten years younger than him.
While touring the Glenbriar distilleries together, Gavin and Felicity discover each other’s company is more intoxicating than the whisky. But when the trip’s over, they have a tough decision to make if they’re to ensure their highland fling isn’t simply a brief tryst at the illicit still.
Margaret is a Scottish author and chocolate lover who has been writing stories for over twenty years (possibly more if you count her primary school efforts). Her early works will never see the light of day and are locked in dusty vaults on some old floppy disks. But after all those years of practise, Margaret released her first novel A Winter Haven in 2021. This is the first of a ten-book series set on the gorgeous Scottish Isle of Mull. The stories are unashamedly romantic but with lots of drama and an eclectic mix of characters. Each book can be read as a standalone but followers of the series will enjoy catching up with previous characters. A new spin-off series based in the Scottish Highlands is coming out in 2023. Look out for the Glenbriar Series throughout the year.

My Opinion
I think I have read every book in this series so far and whilst they can all be read as a standalone I would recommend reading them all to get full advantage from this delightful series. If you have read any of the previous books in this series then you will know what to expect and trust me, Margaret has delivered.
I read this in one sitting, it was just so easy to keep turning the pages and before I knew it I was sad that it was over. Can Gavin and Felicity overcome their differences and learn to work together to save the company? You will have to give this book a read to find out.
I loved the beautiful setting and the wonderful characters in this book. Felicity works as PA to Frank, boss of Sinclair Brothers Whisky Chain, he’s handing over the job to his son Gavin. When a road trip to Glenbriar comes up they both set off with different agendas. Glenbriar Distillery was where Felicity used to work and live so she knows the area and the people, some we have met in previous books. From the beginning this book had me engrossed and I was willing them to get together. If this book was a whisky it would be a malt.
I don’t know if I have ever mentioned before my love of Scotland in my reviews, how much I love books set in Scotland or with Scottish characters, I haven’t, well let me begin ….. rofl. So with that out the way it should come as no surprise that I love the Glenbriar series and books by Margaret Amatt. This is the fifth book in the series, but each can be read as a stand-alone, so if you’re hesitating because you see book 5 written down, do not let that hold you back or you’ll be missing out on a fantastic book. If you haven’t read a book by Margaret before you’ll technically be missing out on several books, because you’ll want to go back and read the rest.
Margaret writes such beautiful and heartwarming tales, and creates these characters that you want in your life, that you’d love to have as friends and neighbours, a community that makes you want to pack up your life and move to Glenbriar. Her stories are so engaging that I pick these books up and I don't put them down until I’m done (and then I’m sad because it’ll be ages until I have the next in the series) This book I loved (no really you say !) especially so because I loved the twist on the boss/pa romance and Margaret definitely makes it her own, I always fall in love with our heroine and Felicity is such a great character, she made me laugh, almost cry, root for her, she’s amazing. Gavin is wonderful too, but Felicity is my girl ! Looking for an addictive, romantic, engaging read set in Scotland then look no further. If you’re just looking for a fantastic book, you’re in the right place too !

Whilst this is the fifth book in the series, it easily reads as a standalone, in fact they all do. I’ve only read a couple of them so far and really need to go and start from the beginning as I have loved the ones I have read so far.
One of the main attractions of this book is the Scottish setting. I love Scotland of which some of the story is set in Edinburgh with the majority of it being set in the highlands. The picturesque setting is definitely a winner. The main characters, Felicity and Gavin, also add to the appeal of this story. Both are driven by their work of which I think with Felicity’s background, it gives us all hope that we can progress even without the degrees. Having a passion and knowing the industry you are in can get you far. Gavin on the other hand has come to the family helm which wasn’t what he wanted. The two have a rocky start and the chemistry is undeniable. It soon has Gavin questioning what is most important to him.
I certainly learned more about the whisky industry reading this book. I’m not a fan of whisky but it certainly didn’t stop me from enjoying knowing more about it. I was swept up as much in the romance as I was to where the company was going. There is some family drama as well as work related drama which all added to making this an addictive read, so much so that I read it in one day.
Highland Fling on the Whisky Trail was an idyllic and wonderful read. It’s all about a work romance and the problems that, that can entail. There are lots of sparks as well as some spice and the setting was the icing on the cake. It was definitely uplifting and guaranteed to leave you with a big smile on your face. Highly recommended!
Like a bit of hot boss, age gap action? What about a very cosy little road trip around the highlands of Scotland with him, fuelled by a whole lot of lust and a shot or two of whisky?
Felicity Swan has finally got her dream job as PA to the new CEO of Glenbriar Whisky. But her new boss only comes with one qualification - he's the owner's son, and he doesn't know the first thing about the business.
Gavin Sinclair may be hot stuff and a hot shot computer programmer, but he's out of his depth and doesn't even like whisky. The easiest thing is to strip the company down to the core business, but the idea of selling off the smaller distilleries appals his pretty new PA.
So Gavin agrees to Felicity's plan for a tour of them to see why they are worth saving. But what he doesn't bank on is her coming along for the ride. And what neither of them expect is for their attraction to be more potent than a bottle of single malt...
Out of the office and up on the glen, whisky business soon turns into frisky business, which is risky business for a PA and her new boss. Will Felicity and Gavin save Glenbriar Whisky and their fledgling relationship, or are they heading for the hangover from hell?
I absolutely loved this book! Another wonderful romance from Margaret Amatt, complete with fabulous friends, gorgeous locations, and a mother from hell. If you love swoony Scottish romance then you need this book in your life!
Given my passion for all things Scotland, it’s no surprise that I’ve fallen head over heels for the Glenbriar series and the works of Margaret Amatt. Don’t worry about this being Book 5 in the series, each installment can be enjoyed independently.
Margaret Amatt has created a truly heartwarming and enchanting story with characters that will make you wish you could move to Glenbriar. I found myself engrossed as I savored every word. This was a refreshing take on the boss/PA romance trope.
Felicity, stole my heart right away. You will laugh and cry a little with and for her. She is the character you find yourself rooting for so hard. Gavin is wonderfully written but for me Felicity just stole the show.
In the Glenbriar series, this is the fifth book, A gorgeous read, where chances are took. A dream job working as a PA to the new CEO Means Felicity Swan to Edinburgh has to go.
Gavin Sinclair is her new boss and in the job, too, He is really uncertain about what he should do. However, his super smart PA seems to know so much more She's so attractive, too, should he show her the door?
A tour of the distilleries is on the agenda for these two But a fortnight together might have repercussions, too! They're both attracted to one another Will they resist? You need to read it to discover!
With his domineering mother sharing her views Can any changes actually bring good news? Visiting the area, connections grow And more about the business he learns to know.
Will their time in Glenbriar bring them together Or will it mean no chance for them ever? For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you - A great addition to this series - this is my honest review.
I have read all of the books in the Glenbriar series by Margaret Amatt, and although Highland Fling on the Whisky Trail could definitely work as a standalone, seriously you are missing out if you do not read the books in order!
The forbidden romance between CEO Gavin and his efficient and dynamic PA Felicity was a sexy, steamy romance in slightly chilly conditions, if you like wild swimming in Scottish lochans, or small lochs. They had such a perfect connection, being so in tune with one another. Both sporty with similar attitudes, they had a lot in common. The challenges they faced in balancing their personal lives with their professional lives was not helped by interference from other characters.
The location of fictional Glenbriars is so beautiful and idyllic and every visit there in the series makes me fall in love with it a little more. The three distilleries were all distinctly different which was a nice touch because it meant they could be personalised very differently under Felicity’s creative plans for upgrading the business.
I love this sensitively written romance between two caring characters who were truly meant to be together. I am also looking forward to the next book in the series.
This supurb hot boss/PA romance is another fabulous addition to the Glenbriar series! The chemistry between Gavin and Felicity sizzled off the page. I was rooting from them from the very beginning, willing them to get together. Margaret Amatt has a super talent for creating endearing heroines and engaging stories that leave you wishing Glenbriar was a real place, and wondering when you can move there! So lovely to catch up with familiar characters from the previous books, it feels like being reunited with old friends. I can't wait for the next installemnt in the series. Run, don't walk to download this fabulous romance!
