The Child Abuse Story of the Decade - based on a Shocking, but true Story

Rate this book
The Child Abuse Story of the Decade is based on the true story of a large Belgian family spanning the year 1879 to the present day. It focuses on the shocking brutal treatment by one family member — who was a brother, husband and father — directed towards other family members. It begins with a love story between two young adults and moves on to their marriage and production of 16 children. All appears well as the family prospers. However, one of their children, Christian, shows an early predisposition to violence and brutality. The story then follows Christian from his early violent tendencies, through the alienation of his brothers and sisters, into his marriage where his brutality and violent tendencies continue with his wife and children, resulting in the shocking death of one his children. The book then follows the other children, and how the psychopathic tendencies of their father has affect their lives.

CHILD ABUSE--You can help

I normally read a book this size very fast but book was a hard pill to swallow. It hurt me to read how horribly these children were abused. Being a retired nurse I have some experience in child abuse. I still can't understand how a Mom or Dad can stand by and allow it to happen. We do need to understand in some areas that women had no rights they had to do exactly what the husband said. I'm sure it is still the
same in some areas. Please read this book and if you know someone you think is being abused please let the authorities know. You do not have to give your name and you might save a life. Thank you. Vivian Duarte. TN.

Abuse in a timeline

This story showed me how the abuse of a family traveled through the generations and was consciously and abruptly stopped in its tracks!
I particularly enjoyed the different eras of writing as each generation was introduced and written about in this sorrowful but amazing story or accomplishment and retribution.
This story has its highs and lows, but worth the read. I honestly can't say there was anything I did not enjoy. My suggestion is read this, you may enjoy it as much as I did.

Really good!

One of those addicting books i could not put down. True story starting at the turn of the century till now. It's about a family and their offspring. A normal couple raises a sadistic son who grows up to marry and have 14 kids who he brutally torments 4 of them. The story then continues to follow one of the abused son and how he coped with life as an adult.

This was a terrible but great book!. I feel so so sorry for this abused family. It was told in such a way that it was as if you were there. Very good wording . I hope they can find peace and I hope Paul continued in his peace ✌

This guy lived a childhood of pure hell because being born to an absolutely evil man!!! He has beaten the odds made it out alive and to not repeat the cycle of abuse as the father of his own house.

Erm weird

Title does not match the story at all, there is snippets of the father going to far with his hitting of the children...other than that was actually boring...

A book I couldn't put down

Insightful, emotional and downright good book. I would recommend this book to read. I couldn't put it down. I applaud Paul for his kindness and generosity. As an abuse survivor, I can relate to parts of this book. I give Paul kudos for him not following in his father's footsteps. God bless him for being a man of integrity, a hard worker, and for his kindness.

It really gives you a look at a different life and time. I think this subject holds a personal interest for me. I think if I could I would try to save every child in bad conditions of any kind.

AMAZING READ!!

It's truly amazing what a child can live through adapt to and overcome! Makes you question the theory of abuse being hereditary...
