This felt like an off shot of the series, which wasn’t a bad thing because it did provide a change of scenery and with only hints of romance. Even though I did appreciate that, I did feel like it was the same treasure hunting plot that was in the previous two book. It was cool to see them put all the clues and navigate on this hunt, but I just wanted something a little different. However I am even more intrigued about Matteo now. There’s a lot of questions that I need to be answered about him.

The Blackmore sisters find themselves in the Old West fictional town of Dead Wood on a scavenger hunt for Luke's company to find a vast treasure of gold and silver from a series of stage coach robberies.

The adventure calls on the special abilities of the sisters to locate the treasure, and also the help capture the bad guys, and get themselves out of trouble once again.

Another fun story from Leighann Dobbs. Entertaining as well as humorous and keeping me up later than I should be.

Book 4 of the Blackmoore Sisters Cozy Mysteries, set in the western southern town of Deep Water with a mix of ghosts, treasure, stagecoach robberies and a crooked sheriff. Romance plays a part but not the main focus this is mainly about the sisters working together with their cat Belladonna helping out to solve a mystery. They all have their individual skills and have each other’s backs. My Mum likes these too and they are a nice easy read.

Typically, in a series, you expect to see character growth and a furthered plot. Sure, it can go in a different direction, but it all comes together and shows a series as a whole, and how the characters have grown and changed. It can be a rewarding experience to follow a story and characters, where they've been to where they've gone. These books lack this aspect of a series so blatantly that each book is a chore to get through. They feel the same. Recycled character personalities, recycled plots, recycled stories. Repetition is always frustrating. The words "well" and "so" are now interchangable when starting sentences. For everyone. Personality differences are sort of there but so bland that no one sticks out.

The continuous acknowledgment that they are aware of and better at knowing about their abilities to constantly doubting them or not using them has gotten old. There is also the continuing idiocy when it comes to the cat. This cat somehow has shown clues over and over and somehow digs things up, and despite the cat always being right, they doubt her or laugh it off as a silly cat. There's also this weird way food is described when eaten. It kinda grosses me out and feels so out of place. The author realizes she needs to add descriptions somewhere and focuses hard on eating.

There are no real shocking moments. Every book is very easy to figure out. It's spelled out, too, even when you don't need it to be. The sisters are too stupid to see the clues and always laugh them off and tell short versions of important information several times until they realize there was important info and share it a while later.

This feels like a filler. With no character progression, it just shows us how this is turning into treasure hunting without explaining anything about eveyones jobs and businesses. This does not turn into any plot and feels like a story that doesn't need to be told.

There are also weird errors like Jo's hair being two different colors within a paragraph or two of each other.
A mention of Dave saying something about an event, then Celeste laughing at Jack's mention of the event, showing that names were mixed up.

Then there are screamed assumptions that a person is a certain way based on where they are from or how they look. For example, Sam Adam's beer is being liked because Jo is from New England. "You like this beer? Must be from New England." I lived in New England for ten years and didn't meet a single person who was as into Sam Adam's as Jo is.

Then the weird sayings that made me think the author thinks her readers are stupid: "He was told this thing by his grandmother years after it happened." Yeah. That's kinda implied with the age gap.

Jo is supposed to be tech savvy, but thought a flashlight app was dumb until she needed it?

Another glaring error was when Celeselte was pushed right after she was doing something else. Come to find out, the author meant Jo and just messed up names again. The mess ups are so close together that I'm baffled how it was never caught.

Redundancies ran amuck, like: "Startled look of surprise."

It feels like an editor never touched this, but I also know from experience that authors tend to ignore their editors and think they know best.

Thought I had found another good series to read. But I'm on #4 and it's exactly like the others. Looking for treasure, a crooked Sherriff who wants to lock them up. Vivid descriptions of mens biceps in tight tee shirts. No. Shame about that. Won't bother with anymore.

Back with the Blackmore sisters in Buried Secrets by Leighann Dobbs and this time the girls are out west searching for another buried treasure, this time though it's not pirates they'll have to deal with, but treasure left by former stagecoach robbers and old west miners.

The sisters just can't avoid finding themselves knee deep in trouble. However, when they arrive in this dusty western town to find the supposed buried treasure left by miners of the old west they find more than they'd bargained for. Once they check into the hotel they're off to the mine where they encounter the woman who owns the land. She confronts them with a shotgun on her hip and "No trespassing" shout on her lips. After explaining exactly what they're there for the woman relents and allows them to look, but the sheriff is not having anything to do with them. He's set on making sure these sisters never get near the mine.

With the help of Belladonna, their mysterious cat who always knows more than a cat should, they'll discover there's more to these mines than they suspected and the treasure they're looking for has quite the history. Lucky for them Celeste is able to see and talk to ghosts. On an answer seeking quest she is introduced to a couple important figures from the past that will lead her in the right direction. They'll ask the questions and search for the clues, but they've obviously made someone in town angry when they discover their hotel room has been destroyed and their computer stolen. The sisters don't know who they can trust, but when the woman who owns the land the mine is on gives them a stack of old letters the answers begin to come together. But so will the danger and knowing these sisters they'll be right in the middle of it!

These are fun, quick reads that are really good little stories. I love the whole sisters angle and with each one having a special something in the way of "powers" it makes it all the more intriguing. Nothing earth shattering or really important, just good old entertainment in a book series. I've been reading this one off and on and am always surprised with what the girls get into next. Leighann Dobbs is a favorite of mine and has some great series reads, so I'm not surprised I'm enjoying this one too. If you're not into this series, check out her others, they're all good! Happy Reading!

Take the historical stories of Henry Plummer (1832–1864) was a prospector, lawman, and outlaw in the American West in the 1850s and 1860s, who was known to have killed several men. He was elected sheriff of Bannack, Montana from 1863 to 1864, during which period he was accused of being the leader of a "road agent" gang of outlaws known as the "Innocents," which preyed on shipments from Virginia City to other areas; and America's most haunted town, Virginia City, Montana, which locals claim the spirit of a notorious bandit spooks the town because of a wrongful hanging. Abandoned gold mines are haunted, as well, as the cemetery where the bandit's unmarked grave is outside of the cemetery boundaries; now create a mystery story.

The author researched the Old West, and its ghost towns, and came up with a great story lines for the Blackmoore sisters and their men. Living out in Utah, doing research, and writing my own stories, I really enjoyed this #4 of the series, as I could relate to many of the story's aspects...ghosts, treasure, carvings on stone walls, abandoned mines, and ghost towns. As to the characters, I think Belladonna, the cat, might be my very favorite right now.

This was a nice change from the preceding 3 books in the series. The treasure-hunting theme is still there, but this time the sisters have gone to a ghost mining town in the Nevada desert called Dead Water. Luckily the cat Belladonna is along too, since she is usually the key to the sisters' discovering anything! Celeste uses her power of talking to ghosts to find out why the local sheriff wants them out of town; Jolene chats up the hunky bartender and a local oldtimer to get some history. They decide to solve the mystery of a long-ago stagecoach robbery and to find where the gold and silver stolen then are stashed. This one had a little more plot to it than the previous three, and was interesting enough to hold my interest all night! Of course we have to have more ice-blue-eyed men to kick up the romance angle, which I find tiresome - but to each his own. I skim over the drooling and tingles and look for the story! A quick read, entertaining; the cat is my favorite character, though!

Book #4 of the Blackmoore Sister Mysteries is intriguing. The sisters decide to take a vacation by helping Luke’s investigation of a lost fortune in the abandoned, old, gold rush town of Dead Water. With all of the twists and unexpected turns affecting the sisters and the local characters they’ve met, keep you on your toes and the edge of your chair. It’s a grand adventure in which the sisters find clues to help solve the reason for a feud between the two remaining ancestors of two of the most prominent families when Dead Water was thriving. Featuring ghosts, a legend of a missing stage coach robbery loot, a love triangle, abandoned mines and of course, hostile police. Seems the sisters always catch the eye of the local police, and not in a good way. Mateo makes a cameo appearance too, hummmm wonder who he really is. Exciting plot and memorable, personable characters. Recommend this series for those who enjoy soft mysteries with a touch of paranormal and possibility of romance instead of the blood and gore type mystery. ❤️

I really enjoy the Blackmoore Sisters Mysteries. In Buried Secrets, they head West on a treasure hunting trip with Luke, one of the sisters’ boyfriends and his team. I like that the people around the women recognize, and believe in, their powers.

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the sisters leaving their hometown, but since they took all of the recurring characters with them, it didn’t really matter much. The girls piece together what happened Dead Water’s past and get right in the middle of some present day illegal activities. Overall, it’s a bit predictable, but there was a least one twist I didn’t see coming.

I would suggest starting the series at the beginning. They’re light, quick read that are just fun. There are a lot of characters though, and a variety of powers, so I think starting with #1 allows you to get introduced to them all and get to know them.

"In The Old Town of Dead Water"

There are buried secrets in the gold mining ghost town of Dead Water. Celeste Blackmore and her three sisters find a 100-year old buried treasure. But the thrill of the discovery is a burden as a woman ghost is seeking vindication from something which had happened in her past. The current sheriff wants to lock up the four women for trespassing and theft. An unknown person staying at the same hotel wants them to get out of town ... safely. The girls have paranormal skills and they will soon find the key to unlock all the secrets. This fun story has a surprising ending and will capture you as all other stories by this excellent author. Enjoy!

This was meh...I mean the reason the sisters and their beaus were in this little western town felt a bit forced, I didn't see the point of it. The "whoduneit" was a twist I didn't see coming, which I love. But I think that the little Maine town is and can be so much more interesting, that going to another odd felling location just didn't seem necessary. So on to #5 and this one is beginning more interesting, with the girls back in their little town and a couple long time family mysteries might be solved.

This book had more twists and turns than the other three in the series, but it is a little too hoakey for my tastes. The criminals are always called “bad guys”. The fun part of this book is learning about the uniqueness of the sisters as they are learning about themselves. I’m sure by the end, each sister will have her own matching beau, which doesn’t turn me off from these books. Although I would not consider these books to be thrillers or even deep mysteries, they are still a fun read. I recommend this book.

3 stars.

The Blackmoore sisters go to a ghost town in Nevada to investigate rumors of a lost loot from stagecoach robberies back in the 1870s. Celeste, the one who sees ghosts, is helped by the ghosts in getting clues as to where the treasure could be. However, it looks like the local sheriff wants them to get out of town.

One thing that did confuse me a bit is that Jolene's "gift" seems to have changed? She can now see auras? And the mysterious Mateo again made a couple of cameos but we still don't know who and what he is.

Again, a light and easy read for the holidays.

Kindle Unlimited, Leighann Dobbs writes under Leighann Dobbs, Annie Dobbs and (soon) L.A. Dobbs but her real name {not sure if she writes under that one} is Lee Dobbins, Hazel Martin Mysteries only one I found for this type with her, she has not made sure that terms used match the British terms as well as in other areas for that period of architecture and assorted styles.

The Notch Cozy Mystery Series {5 out as of this writing} and the Blackbore Sisters Cozy Mysteries are not on Kindle Unlimited which as said before about 1 & 7 {the only ones given free, sure would not have bought them} and ditto for Ghostly Paws which is 1 of 5 at this time but did get others free over time.

While some of her other books are Kindle Unlimited none of the Blackmoore Sisters Cozy Mysteries are which doesn't matter to me as read #1 and #7 and was way underwhelmed. Leighann Dobbs writes under Leighann Dobbs, Annie Dobbs and (soon) L.A. Dobbs but her real name {not sure if she writes under that one} is Lee Dobbins, Hazel Martin Mysteries only one I found for this type with her, she has not made sure that terms used match the British terms as well as in other areas for that period of architecture and assorted styles. By the way, bakeries and other food service places don't run like that. Badly needs to proof things, it's messing up the flow of the book, which my computer reads to me, so that's bad. As for these, it's not that the situations couldn't happen, it's in the telling of the story, with unlikable unbelievable characters and situations, again.

Yet another goodreads won't hide it don't want to see the badly proofed badly plotted poor excuse for bad soft core porn crap. The 'historical' ones are like that and so are the some of the non cozy mysteries and some of the sorta but not really mysteries because can't write, etc ad nauseum. The most any of them got was 2 changed to 1 for crap cozy, some get a 1 which means basically crappy soft porn 'romance' etc.

3 in Silver Hollow Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series so far which are on kindle unlimited, 3 in the Moosamuck Island Mysteries , 5 in the Mystic Notch Cozy Mysteries so far {not ku}, Blackmore Sisters has 7 {not ku}, Hazel Martin Mysteries only has 1 so far, Lexy Baker Cozy Mystery series 12 so far is on ku. Others.including Scandals and Spies Book series so far 4 which are basically romance soft core porn dreck but hey you can get them on ku. Witches of Hawthorne Grove 1 so far,Cevonne Bride of Oklahoma, Unexpected Series 4 so far ku.

The Lexy Baker Cozy Mystery Series By the way, bakeries and other food service places don't run like that. Badly needs to proof things, it's messing up the flow of the book, which my computer reads to me, so that's bad. As for these, it's not that the situations couldn't happen, it's in the telling of the story, with unlikable unbelievable characters and situations, again.

Copy/paste fill in the blank seems to be pretty much what she is doing in her books, which wouldn't be half as bad if the plots and ploys and actions were believable at all.Just change the name for a book and maybe change the series list under, and you are right back to copy paste same old same old.

NOTE: I specifically mentioned certain of the 'books'/series were achieving soft core crap status, and specifically said which ones those were, reference AGAIN the above quoted review, and did not specifically mention the blackmore ones as that, BUT and had not mentioned that had went back and rated all no talent no plot cardboard charactered 'stories' listed above as 1 as well. I will change the original review to reflect that, but it is still a 1, and MY review of the crap stands.

I normally read through any book/book series no matter what. But I simply can't read the same plot a 4th time within the same series. It feels like a lot of elements hang in the air, like they are about to be revealed but then, nothing.
Others have already mentioned the insane amountnof repetition and inconsisancies in the story and regarding the different characters.

I really tried, but I simply can't keep going...

The Sheriff is out for blood, can they survive?

Awesome! Fighting the Sheriff has become a fact of life but why are they now fighting ghosts? The hunt for the treasure gets more intense as the girls give their all to survive. By the way who is the mysterious man who appears to help at the most dangerous times. Wonderful series.

Here's a sweet novella about four sisters with paranormal abilities. It's handy that Celeste can see and speak with ghosts because she and her sisters are off to Dead Water, a ghost town, in search of hidden treasure from a series of stage coach robberies in the 1870s. A good story with lots of sleuthing, a bit of action not related to the treasure, and some romance.

OMG!

I swear this book was absolutely amazing. I'm a believer in ghosts as I've had the dubious pleasure of seeing a couple, fortunately they didn't speak to me like they do in the book. Definitely recommend this.

A good holiday read, light hearted enough to stop or pick up any time

With hints of magic, mystery, murder and a little romance, these stories offer some light relief from the regular books that only have one theme. Very easy to read and recommended.

4th Book

Enjoyed this book the mystery was more complex than the last although not as much of a romance. It would be nice to know a little more about the mysterious Mateo, of course that is a book for the next book.

Good read

I have read 4 books in this series so far and I think it's a good little series, but I'd like to see the sisters develop their powers a little faster and also with a little more witchiness. That said I'll continue with the series and hope they up the ante!

This book was somewhat predictable. If you like a mystery with a lot of twists and turns this is not the book for you. Accept, there is one good twist at the end I didnt see coming You can pretty much guess what's going to happen before it does. A quick read with a little adventure.

This is book 4 of the Blackmoore Sisters Mysteries. The paranormal powers and events are more prevalent as the series goes forward. That's not my usual type of book, but I still liked the plot, predictable as it was, for the action. Each book can be read as a stand-alone.

This is so much better! She is definitely improving as the books go on. Also, the chapter narrated by the cat is my favorite! The witchy aspect is starting to come in, though more as a super power thing. Also, not quite instant love? It's still pretty instant. Still a fun and cozy read.

I came across Leighann Dobbs when looking for more of the magic and mystery books. This is a great series. I love the way they were able to work through the problems and still found love. I didn't like that none of them got married, they just dated for years then it ended.

This is my favorite in the series so far.

I loved the dessert setting and the new cast of characters.

Belladonna continues to enchant her way into my kitty loving heart.

The story telling is also stronger.

Overall, I highly recommend it if you are in the mood for a fun cozy mystery.
