BOOK TWO of a Two Part Series

When Kerrin Graham, a retired cop and now an investigative journalist with the Washington Post, receives a call in the middle of the night, his life is about to be turned upside down.

Six of the world's leading geneticists have all 'committed suicide' in the past seven days, his brother-in-law being the latest to die. Establishing that those who died were all employees of the Gen8tyx Company, a secretive research company based in Orlando, Kerrin sets out to discover the truth behind their deaths.

Discovering that those who died were killed to stop them unveiling the results of their revolutionary stem-cell research, a discovery that could usher in a new age of hope and health for all humanity, Kerrin vows to find who was responsible for their deaths and to uncover the powerful secret they were killed to protect.

On a trail that takes him around the world and back, Kerrin uncovers a sinister organisation that will stop at nothing to protect the secret behind the mysterious 'Orlando Treatment'.

When those around him start to die, and his wife disappears, it becomes a race against time to find the missing 'Orlando File', the only hope of saving his crippled wife and proving to an unsuspecting world, the truth behind the sinister Chymera Corporation of America.

And yet, when Kerrin eventually understands just what the Orlando File contains, he is faced with a choice no man should ever have to make, and everyone who reads this book must ask the same question:
"What would I do, if I were him?"

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.

The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?

His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?

Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.

Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?

This review is for both book 1 and book 2 since they are One book split in the middle for commercial purpose only. (Do not read book #2 without reading book #1) It is a very fast action book. Lots of twists. This is the conspiracy genre in very high places. The book is touching the following: Police. FBI. CIA. Newspaper, Journalists. Genetic industry. All in one exciting thriller.I liked the main character in the book which was very much down to earth type, and not the super hero you find in many other books., and I intend to check for more books by Ian C.P. Irvine .
I like reading a book in bed since it often speed up the moment I go to sleep. This book stole away my sleep.

Second Part was as good as the first. Once again good thriller writing and thought provoking. Faced with the choices that Kerrin has to make what would you do. Interesting look into the world of US Big Brother, believable? True? As efficient? Not sure so read the book and make up your own mind. Only disappointment for me was the ending, fell a bit flat in my opinion

The book threw up some interesting dilemmas, I can imagine those who favour conspiracy theories really buying into the plot line concept. It does make you wonder if there is an element of truth. The book was well paced and the plot well thought through, however I do not understand why this story is sold in two instalments when neither are stand alone writings. Something of a David versus Goliath theme with an ending that might make you question yourself, not to mention wondering whether pharmaceutical and genetic industries are keeping secrets the sake of the profits.

W h y not?

Makes you think what would you do in the same situation. It was an easy read and thought provoking. I had hoped he would have made a different choice . It reminds me of Hitler and his search for the superior race to rule the world. There is much research happening in this field. I only hope that all people will be able to access what is discovered and that ethics plays a part in all of this.

A thriller for some of today's issues!

Excellent! Fascinating, thought provoking storyline that keeps you captivated. The main character is incredible as is the research that evidently went into development of the medical and security monitoring themes. Current issues in a great thriller.

Great story

As many of the reviews I read before I bought this book, I agree it is very fast paced and riveting. I agree it was a don't put down book. I look forward to reading others of his books. He should reach some acclaim as an author. Glad I took the chance and read it.

Exceptional !

The story line is gripping and makes it very difficult to put this book down. I gave it 5 stars for the story line, but would generally only go with 4 stars due to the number of spelling errors and incorrect sayings used throughout the book.

As previously stated in the review of The Orlando File, #1, I found this an interesting read and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good medical mystery.

Well done

From start to finish, including book 1 of the series, this book has exceeded expectations. A story line that flows smoothly throughout is enhanced by the premise of the story which describes a very feasible plot. Vivid and clear descriptions, realistic characters, a fast pace, a thought provoking premise , and an author who keeps it clear and easily readable make reading this book a joy.

Miracle cures

Not long enough to be two books. The ending although predictable not satisfying. Justifies any action for survival, what's the honor in that? Find the killer at all cost, surrender/partner with killers for a price.

!?

Need to read book one! The pursuit goes on! More narrow escapes. Only thought that keeps one reading is the hero should not die before the end of the book. The causes of the mystery are explained, many many pages!!! Maybe too wild for many readers.

Ian Irvine: Will continue to read him for exciting story-flow, engaging descriptions and cliff-hanging suspense. Thoroughly enjoyed #'s 1 and 2; anticipating the sequel!

Disappointing to say the least. I really enjoyed the first book but think it was split into two as a money spinner. The first book was fast paced whereas the second is padded out by medical facts - not required in as great a detail - that slow the story down.
Ruined further by an ending that looks like the author ran out of time and finished it in an afternoon to hit a deadline.
This should have been one book, it would have tken about 100 pages added to the first.

I loved part one. Honestly part two was just complete breaking of expectation. While building up the suspense, the author actually lost control that how far he can let his imagination run and evidently his imaginations crossed the invisible line and was not able to come back to a logical conclusion. So evidently the climax is lame and unconvincing. Not to mention totally illogical.

An OK part 2. Too much of the main character being chased and escaping every time. Got a bit bored towards the end.
