I wasn't really expecting much from this book, but for some reason my 4-year-old has asked for this story every night for a week! There's not much to it - a pig who works out but is still himself, and has a heart of gold and treats people nicely. This has been a big hit with my little boy though :) 8 out of 10
Pigtastic by Scott Gordon is a super fun, super cute, children's novel!
I absolutely love the 3D design of our lead character, the pig! He looks super cute! Add in the wonderful story about accepting people and you've got yourself a winning combination! Scott Gordon and his unique style makes me want to shout from the hills about how awesome these books are. Seriously, I'd recommend reading them to your kids if you are looking for something a little different yet still just as fun.
I really loved all of the Pig's different costumes. That was a really nice touch to make this book cool! The England costume was definitely my favourite one!
Who doesn't want to be Pigtastic?! We all have to be ourselves in this absolutely crazy world! If we all have hearts of gold, we'll be Pigtastic!
Overall, it's super cute and worth every penny!! The 3-5 age group will definitely love this book and all of it's silliness!
Charmingly illustrated by Julien Tromeur, Pigtastic! by Scott Gordon gently teaches little ones to accept their own individuality. Facing the reader, the pig explains that though the pig may not be rich, the pig has a heart of gold and that is what matters. The pig stresses through various other examples to consider the interior of a person and not what he or she is on the outside.
The book concludes with six ads for other books created by the author Scott Gordon. Many of these books have been translated into other languages including Pigtastic.
Colorful and fun, the pig provides a positive role model for little ones ages 3-6 in a very short read that will entertain and educate. Illustrations and text are very simple and tell the thoughts well. While the artwork and text may be very simple, the taught concepts of being positive and accepting of yourself are very important. Like Alphabet All-Stars, Pigtastic! by Scott Gordon is a good one.
Pigtastic! Scott Gordon http://segordon.blogspot.com/ Kindle E-Book December 2011 (Estimated print length 39 pages) $1.49
Material picked up during the author’s recent free book promotion for my objective review. Pigtastic! was read via the free “Kindle for PC” program.
I loved the message of this book. Piggy allows his emotions to get him down when he hears chatter from others about himself. He tries to change his appearance by constantly working out and then suddenly he has an epiphany....he comes to the realization that he is great...just the way he is! In fact he is PIGTASTIC!!!
He discovers that his happiness and self-worth does not revolve about what other people say to him or about him or even how he looks on the outside. He senses deep within his heart that it's the inside of him that counts:
"inside I have a heart of gold, and that's all that matters!"
After this profound revelation he makes a significant life change. He surrounds himself with friends (like his reader) so that he can have exciting times travelling abroad (to France, England, or Ireland), having fun with his image (oooh, sunglasses make me a cool dude for sure), and trying new adventures like skateboarding, dancing and being over dramatic in his flowing super hero cape!
He discovers it's not about how others perceive you but how true friends will love you uncondionally. They will give you wings to fly and permission to accept yourself for who you truly are...unique and amazing...YOU! Let's all learn a lesson from Piggy and realize that we all can be PIGTASTIC too!!!
Pigtastic by Scott Gordon is a free ebook I received from Amazon.com. I had previously read another book by Gordon- My Little Pet Dragon and fell in love with the illustrations by Julien Tromeur. I was not let down with the illustrations in this book either. The illustrations are done the same way; with the pig being fixed on a plain white background which makes the images of the pig pop! The illustrations are of a bright, vivid pink pig acting out the words on each page. The message of the book is of self-esteem and accepting yourself and others. This book is only 25 pages long and has on average 3-5 words per page. It’s a quick read, but the message is simple and cute; “Accept people for who they are and you will be Pigtastic too!” I recommend this book for children 3-6 years of age. The simplicity of the book is great for beginning readers who can rely on the images to help them decipher the sight words or to use the book for basic memorization.
Pigtastic is a cute, uplifting children’s book with pictures of the most adorable happy pig! Written for young children, it’s an antidote to bullying. The subtitle is: Accept people for who they are! The main messages are to feel good about yourself, no matter who you are or what you look like, and enjoy life. After mentioning fun things to do like traveling and skateboarding, the happy little pig says, "We can do all of this, and so much more!" That’s a great message for kids. Life is full of endless opportunities and fun experiences. Even though sadness comes our way, it’s good to pick one’s self up, love ourselves for who we are and enjoy life. In the tradition of humorous books with a message for young children, the pictures themselves are enough to cheer up readers and listeners and make them giggle.
... my first response to these books by Scott Gordon was positive. I REALLY liked the cute illustrations. But I've then seen them elsewhere, and others have mentioned that these are stock images. The author takes the images and then writes a "story" around them. This "book" then does make a lot more sense, as it isn't really a story, but just small statements under the pictures. For some reason, this did make me like the book a little less. It was cute, and it seems to come up on free promotions from Amazon. For free, it was a cute little read.
I'm not really sure about the age range, but I don't have kids. I got it to read to my nieces. The stories are cute and sweet, but a bit too simplistic for the 4.5 year old (she asked for a different book). They are only a few words per page, but do tell a pretty long/full story. They seem a bit too long for the two year old, but she loves the pictures so I think it will be good for her to grow into the length.
Pigtastic! dose what it says and helps young children to accept people for who they are and recognizes that being different is acceptable. I liked how the pig told how he was different first and then showed differences as being a good part of life. The illustrations are cute, appealing to young children and convey the message of the text.
I purchased Pigtastic! as a children's book in an anthology.
Pigtastic (Accept people for who they are!) Other works by the author are highlighted at the beginning. This is about a pig that understands there are a lot of things he has no control over and to do the best you can with what you have. Lots of links for other author's works that are free certain days.
Yet another fun book by Scott Gordon for kids. Spectacular digital art and fun for kids learning with a special pink pig.
Now there are ads after the main book but you don't have to read them. I did. I found the books for kids in different languages interesting and fun to look at just not for me. I can see how they are useful.
The computer-generated illustrations are a cut way above what is normally found in children's e-books. There's no story here, just some short messages about self-esteem and accepting yourself.
These stories by Mr Gordon are simple but special little books. Perfect for beginning readers OR for someone to be reminded how special they are. Just a fun loving book!
My daughter says she likes it because it shows people that no matter what you look like you are fantastic, or Pigtastic! The illustrations are good too.
