"Discovering what it means to live for Christ is never dull, as you’ll soon see. Storms, duels, sea battles, revenge . . . interwoven with God’s love and forgiveness, it is truly a treasure beyond just a novel." -RC
Phoebe Hinkle has a passion for good, clean adventure stories that point readers to God. She began writing at an early age and published her first novella when she was fifteen. Although that first book was full of cringe-worthy errors (the main reason why it's not for sale online), it was the gateway to an incredible writing journey that, Lord willing, will continue for the rest of her life.
Phoebe can usually be found with her two cats, her laptop, and a mug of tea or coffee. She loves serving God, playing games with her family, and acting out stories with her friends.
I love stories that include ships and the sea, so I was excited to read this pirate story! I thought the elements of justice, forgiveness, and making restitution were all handled very well, and I enjoyed the colorful cast of characters! I would have liked it even better if there was more history woven in, but that’s just me! Parts of it reminded me of the book Grace Triumphant by Alicia Willis, which is on my favorites list! I’d love to see more sailor stories like this one–ones that are clean and Christian-based and not romances!
I don't usually go for 'pirate' books. I found this one very satisfying, however. The characters seemed human, nobody was too good or too evil to make it unbelievable. Although sometimes the puzzle pieces didn't quite click into place, I would say it's a very enjoyable book.
