Praise for Downburst, Book One of The Windstorm Series:
“[Robison's] debut takes flight, leaving readers eager for the next installment. A thrilling head-rush of an adventure.” -Kirkus Reviews
Katie Robison has a Ph.D. in medieval literature from the University of Minnesota and is a registered member of the Ngai Tahu Maori tribe in New Zealand. She currently lives in Los Angeles where she teaches writing courses at the University of Southern California.
When I read the first book, I was dying for the second book to come out...now that I have read it, I DYING again for the next book. I don't want to have any spoilers, but I loved learning more about Kit's family and heritage and I really want to travel to come of the places in the book. There are so many great new characters to get to know...I would just love to see this made into a movie, some of the scenes would be gorgeous and heart-breaking.
This has a bit of a slow start too, but this book is nothing if not full of surprises. It takes everything you thought you knew about this mythical world in the first book and completely turns it on its head. I really enjoyed the shift in setting and perspective, and the fact that who you thought were the bad guys are now the good guys and it's really unclear who the bad guys are any more. Also a quick, engaging read, finished it in a single sitting.
Absolutely fantastic! This is a knockout follow up to an already excellent first novel in Katie Robison's Windstorm series. In this second installment, the world of windwalking opens up and we learn more about Kit as she grows and matures as a character. Coiled Snake is both trilling and moving from beginning to end, and leaves you wanting more just as Downburst did.
I've waited a very long time for this book. Wow! What a ride. This is such a great young adult series. Some great life lessons, compelling story line, and just enough action to keep you on edge. Read my full review at Girl Who Reads
GREAT second installment to the Windstorm series. I LOVED the descriptions of the places, just as strong, if not stronger, than the first book. Robison does such a fantastic job weaving reality into her fantasy, makes it seem SOOO real. Anxiously awaiting the third book.
My favorite part of this book in the series is the New Zealand tribal elements. The author knows her stuff, and it adds another dimension most YA adventure stories lack. Can't wait for the last book!
