Pauline Ocean would have it no other way. What Readers are
★★★★★ “We were first introduced to Pauline Ocean, the medium, in J.R. Rain’s novel The Body Departed. She was a fascinating character, a medium who sees ghosts, drinks too much, smokes too much and has little contact with people other than as her clients. Pauline lives in Echo Park, and her best friend is a ghost named Mack. She gets hired to help a girl whose dreams have become haunted with a murder of a young girl and her mother. Can Pauline help her stop these haunting dreams? Elizabeth Basque has done a wonderful job with this first of the Medium Mysteries, a paranormal ghost mystery with great characters.” —Amazon review
★★★★★ “I love Pauline and cannot wait to dive into the next book in the series. Pauline is a medium who hangs out with ghosts more than she does with humans. In this book, she’s dealing with ghosts who lived in the world of buying and selling drugs. Some wrongs need to be righted so the ghosts can head towards eternity. Love the characters living and dead. In spite of some of the sad things that happen in this book, I enjoyed reading it and feel like I know the characters.” —Amazon review

Not only was the book riveting, it charmed my mindset to the personalities of all the ghosts. I recommend this book to all audiences, mystery or paranormal fans. You will enjoy this read!” —Amazon review

Pauline Ocean is a medium who connects clients with ghost 👻 for various reasons. Mack is a ghost 👻 who is a friend. Mack is the first and last person she sees 👀 everyday. Julie has an appointment to talk about a problem that Pauline may be able to help with. Julie is being haunted by dreams of a spirit. With Mark's help Pauline helps Julie connect with Carla and the fun begins. I would highly recommend this series and various authors to readers of paranormal fantasy mystery novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡🏡
J. R. Rain ☔ and his various authors are favorites of mine. Happy reading and have fun 🌙
The best thing about the book is Mack. This is from 2013 and the main character Pauline is portrayed as an overweight, lazy, alcoholic medium that the readers should be okay with. There’s no shade on someone being overweight, however. Just describing someone leisurely being an alcoholic, not a good look.
I am a true fan of J. R. Rains work so I was excited to come across another series. This story was awesome and I'm looking forward to the rest of this series. Elizabeth Basque did a wonderful job creating this story. I'm anxious for what's next.
An ok book, I liked Mack and Carla, wasn’t totally crazy about Pauline-definitely an alcoholic. Having a main character be an alcoholic and showing it as an ok way to deal with life shows a message I don’t believe in. Implausible ending (won’t spoil it for anyone else), the chances of it happening are pretty slim.
The story line was a good one, that wasn't my problem with this book. I would have enjoyed this read so much more if it weren't for the poor editing and proof reading.
I, unfortunately, get unceremoniously tossed out of enjoying a good plot line when I encounter gaping grammatical errors and/or continuity errors. Especially if you assign an accent to a character and are inconsistent with the accent, in this case substituting an 'er' with an 'ah' at the end of a word, ie: lobstAH instead of lobstER. In this case it was a Massachusetts accent, which is unfortunate because my husband was born on Cape Cod.
For me, it's like being engrossed in a good story only to have your reading interrupted over and over by (_____) fill in the blank with whatever is annoying or aggravating for you. These tiny bumps in the road are jarring and pop you right out of the story.
I enjoyed the premise and the character development in this book, other than what I mentioned above. The book was a fast read that I could have finished quickly without the constant hiccups. Too bad.
very enjoyable story, taking a character from J. R. Rains The Body Departed and fleshing her out into something more. Good ideas that I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress in the second installent
Excellent!! What a great story and excellent writing!! Extraordinarily well developed and interesting characters...I just love them! This is a definite must read for anyone who loves a good ghost story!! Well done Elizabeth Bisque....well done!! *clapping*
I found this book to be good, fast-paced, with characters that grew on you the further into the book you read. I do plan to read more in this series. I rate it 4.4 stars.
