‘Murderer or victim? What’s that?’

When Mark Foster has a conversation with his colleague about how everyone falls into two categories - murderer or victim - his life is changed forever.

With an army background and a fear-inspiring job as a passport controller, Mark realises he is not one of those who could be labelled a victim.

But what is the alternative…?

When an obnoxious, self-righteous American tourist called Hiram walks through the airport gates, Mark is pushed over the edge.

He embraces his fate and decides to track Hiram down and punish him for his selfish, brash, destructive behaviour.

But as he follows him through London events take an unexpected turn….

Will Mark be able to contain his murderous impulses?

Or will his victim end up Dead on Arrival?

There are two types of people going by heir passport photos – murderers and victims. That’s the premise of this story. And its protagonist – a man who sees more than his fair shares of passports due to working in airport security – decided he is the former.
But of course, every murderer needs a victim and so he picks one out of the garish Americans passing through customs – a thoroughly obnoxious man, ugly in every respect.
Then he proceeds to stalk his victim as his involvement gets more involving and the situation becomes more complicated.
The aspiring murderer remains determined though – his victim was alive on arrival, contrary to the title – but can he stay that way?
Entertaining enough of a read and a very quick one (some of this already very sender volume is taken up by a preview), kinda humorous at times or at least it certainly tries for a sort of morbidly jocular vibe and overall, pretty fun. Certainly nice for a freebie.

What starts as a silly game between passport control officers turns into a deadly reality as one of them begins to plan a murder.

This is a sharply written novella with a strong central character and an intriguing premise. There's a clever twist at the end too.
