[Leído en Inglés:]My little pony (Mi pequeño pony en español):Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks nos situará poco después de la primera película (y el libro), pero antes de la tercera (y el siguiente libro). Existen pequeños cortos animados sobre lo que sucede en este libro y la verdad es que ya los había visto, pero no tenía ni idea de que estarían representados en esta historia. En realidad me di cuenta de que esta no era la novelización de la segunda película hasta que lo comencé a leer.
Estas historias me gustan bastante a pesar de mi edad.
Este libro nos cuenta, de a poco, como las chicas comienzan una banda (que será relevante después) e introducen a la antagonista de la siguiente historia, aun cuando habrá tres nuevas villanas en la siguiente entrega.

This book was disappointing. It seemed rushed at the beginning... plus Trixie mentioned something like "Is there going to be a Battle of the Bands". Uh, I think this is supposed to be before the Rainbow Rocks movie, so how would she know about that??
The book had an... interesting perspective I guess. But it was boring.
I feel like the book should have been titled differently. It mislead me and made me think it was about the movie. "The Mane Event" is about the movie.

Es una historia original y en la que luego se basan los cortos promocionales de Rainbow Rocks.
Me ha gustado el protagonismo que le dan a DJ-Pon3, y los fragmentos de canciones conocidas que aparecen.
Lo que no me ha gustado es que no aparece Sunset por ningún lado, ni siquiera se la menciona.
Pero por lo demás, súper recomendado, eso sí, tienen que leer el anterior o ver la primera película de Equestria Girls antes de leer este o no entenderán nada.

There are some very cute character moments in here. Like, The Great and Powerful Trixie vs Rainbow Dash!!! How can you go wrong there?
Also, love how DJ-pon3 was verbally mute the whole book, and everyone just goes along with it and lets her communicate how she wants. The focus on her was definitely a highlight.

Oh my, this book was a chore to get through. Short and sweet but poorly constructed. On the other hand, my four year old, who loves ponies and magic and doesn’t care much about grammar and dialogue, loved it!

We read this as a family and my kids loved it, especially because it was more in-depth than the movie in some ways and also different in others. Great writing and great moral to the story- friendship and believing on yourself.

I would say this was a good way to kick off the new year, but if I'm being honest, the first thing I read in 2016 was Star Wars fanfiction (the gay kind).

I really need to stop reading books for eight year olds. The only reason I asked for this (Christmas present from my brother) was because I thoroughly enjoy My Little Pony and the Equestria Girls movies. Sure, they're written for humans less than have half my age, but they're colorful, lighthearted, and have surprisingly good and relevant advice about friendship, not to mention other enjoyable aspects like Dr. Hooves and stuff.

So anything I have to say about this book should be null, right? Because I no longer have the imagination of the intended audience?

NOT EVEN CLOSE.

First off, Pinkie Pie is one HELL of a baker. She's awesome at it. She has, like, GOD level skill at baking. That is shown over and over and over within the show. Even in the Equestria Girl movies, she's still a good baker. Yet there is an entire chapter dedicated to how "awful" she is at baking! Applejack even says, "'Pinkie Pie might not have what it takes to be a baker...'" WHICH IS CLEARLY FALSE AND YOU WOULD KNOW IF YOU HAD EVEN ONCE INTERACTED WITH PINKIE PIE'S CHARACTER.

AND! Actually that's really about it, nothing more to complain about that is actually valid. I would say there are too many exclamation points, but, then again, it is not only written for third graders, it also has the characters from My Little Pony in it.

There were some really cute scenes too, like with Fluttershy, Rarity, and the hamsters. I thought that was funny.

An overall forgettable experience for a sixteen year old, but otherwise enjoyable.

OH EXTRA TIDBIT: I just figured out (I read another review) that this was actually somewhat of a prequel to the Rainbow Rocks movie (2nd of the Equestria Girls movies) although not entirely because there is no mention of Sunset Shimmer whatsoever but hey this is how they all pick out their instruments.

ALSO WHAT DOES THIS CHICK THINK HIGH SCHOOLERS KEEP IN THEIR BACKPACKS, LIKE YES, I TOO CARRY AROUND TAMBOURINES FROM MY CHILDHOOD AND SUPPLIES TO CRAFT TINY HAMSTER DRESSES

This is the second book in the spin-off series of My Little Pony, Equestria Girls.
My littlest, who is currently six, informed me that these are based on actual shows (TV movies?) and is aware of some of the storylines, so, since the first one seemed relatively engaging and having an actual plot, I assumed that the second one would too.

Sadly, it doesn't, not really. It falls into the stable of being a story that has very little in the way of anything that drives a story onwards, outside of a vacuous need to get a band started for the Spring Fling.
And, of course, (most conveniently), all the girls just so happen to be more than proficiant at playing instruments in a band! What are the chances, hmm?
Anyway, there really isn't anything in the way of dramatic tension and it just rolls smoothly into an occurence at the end of the book that was in no way in any threat of not happening.
There were a few momnets where an attempt at tension was tried, but it was resolved in about two pages, right at the beginning, and the antagonist, Trixie, was no threat to the upcoming evening whatsoever.

However, my girlie enjoyed it and gives it four stars (a shame, then, that she's not writing this review! HAHAHA!).

What I enjoyed most out of it was reading to my daughter and practising the voices (I'm getting quite good at that now).
I couldn't quite figure out if this story was Twilight Sparkle imagining what her other-worldly friends were up to, or if it was a real adventure, but either way, the girl-ified Twilight does not appear in this tale and I was keen to find out how she managed to return to Equestria HIgh. Sigh. Never mind, maybe that will happen in the next book (I certainly don't hope that this format - of her not being present) continues, and that all the 'adventures' do not involve her.

In this book Twilight Sparkle stays in Ponyville as she helps prepare for a festival. Meanwhile at CHS the other Mane 6 are getting ready for their festival . The Mane 6 start singing together when Vinyal Starch (aka DJ PON-3) text Rainbow Dash that they should make a band, so they start to make one. Rainbow goes to a music store then Trixie and Rainbow fight over a guitar. Later, Rarity wants to play the piano but later she plays a "piatar". Fluttershy helps some pets and controls then with her tempera. Then Apple Jack has to get her bass from the Flim-Flam brothers. Last Pinkie Pie starts to play the drums. After all that the Rainbooms (thats the name of the band) play at the festival.

Here's a little summary of a book I enjoyed. Twilight just starts singing and thinks about what is going on in the human world. Then she imagines that they were all together. DJ Pon 3 hears them singing and she suggests that they should make their own band. So they make their own band. Rainbow dash has to win Trixie on a guitar challenge. Pinkie Pie plays drums. Rarity and Fluttershy has to get the hamsters in the hamster home. And Applejack is on a case for the bass. In the end Trixie gets so much into the song that she forgets that she has to perform. Equestria girls win!

I love Equestria Girls One, but I love the sequel even better! In this one, Twilight Sparkle must stay in Equestria with her original friends but she can only dream up what is going on at Canterlot High where her new friends are. Meanwhile, at Canterlot High School, Rainbow Dash, after awakening from a strange dream, is suddenly triggered to start a band with Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Applejack. Trixie is determined to beat the Rainbooms in the CHS Musical Showcase, but Rainbow Dash won't let that happen! Who will win? Read this book to find out!

Rainbow Rocks differ from the predecessor that it is NOT a novelised version of the film but a prequel to how each girl found her instrument. Rainbow Dash battled it out with Trixie to get herself a guitar; Applejack bought back her bass from the Flim Flam brothers; Fluttershy used tambourine to calm hamsters, Pinkie Pie converted her energy to drumming and finally Rarity gave up her grand piano with a keytar.

I really hated the emphasis on DJ Pon-3, it didn't work at all. Sunset Shimmer was surprisingly absent too, very disappointed.

Humanized ponies are bad enough, but the author change made this book almost unbearable. Berrow managed to make the first book good, sticking to the Mane 6's personalities, but this one was just simple kid sentences and a bunch of exclamation marks. I really hope the movie is not this bad, because how they treated the characterization of DJ was pretty boring and disappointing and I'd expected more.

I thought it was alright but definitely aimed for kids. If you didn't like the first Eqestria girls then chances are you won't care for this one.the book is focused on putting a band together. Trixie wants to be better so she is somewhat a bully. DJ Pon3 is also in here a lot and kind of wants to help them either band some.
