Tracey West is the New York Times bestselling author of Dragon Masters, a series in the Scholastic Branches line. She has written more than 400 books for kids, including the Pixie Tricks series and the Underdogs series with Kyla May.

I have to keep reminding myself that this is a children's book and detail is not exactly a strongpoint in those books. Other than that, I found the book pretty enjoyable. My favorite part about mini tv-to-book adaption is that they include at least a bit more paragraphs of thoughts for the characters and they did that. I managed to read it under 30 minutes and I really did enjoy reading it. So I pretty much recommend it.

It felt exactly like watching an episode of Gravity Falls, and if I'm being entirely honest, some of the scenes WERE straight out of the TV Show. I believe this is a great outlet for children who may be less partial to reading, much like I was when I was little.

I’ve got ALOT to say about this book. Keep in mind these are just my opinions!

First. The writing is not the best, like, I really don’t like it. Maybe it’s because I’ve read a lot of amazing books this year, but I’m not sure.

Second: The whole plot of the first half is just Dipper trying to ‘get a girl’ that’s multiple years older than him. She’s almost an adult and he’s twelve. What?

Third: I get that this is based off of the show, but I just think the characters are also really poorly written.

Lastly: If this book wasn’t based off of the show, I feel that other reviews might be a bit harsher. I think the show is amazing, but not this book. I might still read a few more in this series just so I can say I’ve read them, and laugh at them. Again, these are just opinions, and I would be happy to hear some other people’s opinions! Just as long as it’s a friendly discussion. :)

A delightful read, and also easy regarding linguistic aspect! I genuinely enjoyed participating in Dipper and Mabel's life at the Mystery Shack. I did not expect the stories to provide meaningful values but only joyful moments. However, it did. I've learnt that it's good to be myself in the 1st story and to stay honest, listen to yourself in the second one.

P/s: I'm glad that I've watched the series on Disney so that I can get the jokes in this chapter book. It's a little bit hard to enjoy the stories with only words and some illustrations.

Have you ever felt like you want to be at two places at once? Well Dipper has, and to do so he did something very strange. This Book is Gravity Falls Pining Away by Walt Disney Company. This book is fiction. I like this book because it is very strange and full with funny details. This story is about Dipper Pines along with his friends having a party at their home/store (The Mystery Shack). When the group was planning how to organize the party, Dipper's Great Uncle (Grunkle Stan) assigned dipper to collect party tickets from costumers with his crush Wendy, who was a worker for Grunkle Stan in the Mystery Shack. Wendy wanted to go to the party so she asked Dipper if she could leave, and Dipper said yes. This story takes place in Gravity Falls, Oregon. The type of conflict for this story is person v.s person and person v.s self.Dipper wanted to be with Wendy inside the party, but since Dipper knew that Grunkle Stan was going to be mad if he left the ticket stand he did not know what to do. When Grunkle Stan told Dipper to go get party papers from the copy room, he did still thinking about the decision he was going to make. Dipper laid down and made actual real clones in the copy machine. With the clones Dipper could be at two places at once. The clone idea did not work so well because all of the clones turned against Dipper because they all wanted to be with Wendy. Dipper just disintegrated the clones with water since they were made out of paper. From a scale from 1- 5 i give this book a 5 because this book had humor and was enjoyable. I recommend this book to the reader because I can promise you will enjoy this book. Remember that next time you get close to a copy machine, don't make clones for yourself!

This was great! Somebody left this in the laundry room. The writing is slightly wooden, but it's a description of two episodes of a tv show I've never seen and the happenings were very funny. In the first one, Dipper, the twelve-year-old boy twin, likes a fifteen-year-old girl. He doesn't understand that it's not going to happen. She has a boyfriend who wears a guitar at all times, because he is cool. Dipper uses the enchanted photocopier to clone himself but then the clones turn on each other, as they do.

The second story/episode was about the girl twin, Mabel. A rival Pacific Northwest tourist attraction adolescent boy likes her. She isn't ready to have a boyfriend, but he pressures her into going on dates that keep turning romantic. An old man rows them in a gondola. She needs a plan to get him away from her. The pressure from the community to have a boyfriend was realistic but also hilarious. She does get rid of him safely in the end.

Twins Mabel and Dipper are staying in Oregon with a great uncle who is more interested in making a buck than anything else. Dipper has a crush on Wendy as does the super creepy Lil' Gideon. Dipper decides he needs a little help from the magic copying machine which churns out nine clones of him. Some parts are filled with juvenile humor with tons of party string, fake barfing, and even a spray painted face on a fat man's belly. Give this title to reluctant readers who like the Disney TV series.

I really liked this book. It's based on 2 of the Gravity Falls episodes that are about romance relationships for both twins. One was about Dipper cloning himself to get Wendy and Mabel trying to break up with Gideon. It was a very short little book, but I am a big Gravity Falls fan so I don't mind. I recommend this book to Gravity Falls fans and early readers.

Read this to my two sons as a bedtime story over the course of a few nights. According to them, this book is written episodes; not new stories. We always enjoy Tracey West's work. This one didn't disappoint.

Gravity Falls is one of my favorite shows and I’m always looking for new books and things to keep the show alive. I was disappointed that this is just a novelization of two episodes, “Double Dipper,” where Dipper prints copies of himself, and “The Hand that Rocks the Mabel,” where Mabel meets Li’l Gideon. The stories are entertaining and short just like the tv show episodes, but I was really hoping for original new stories.

This book is just a novelization of the episodes Double Dipper and The Hand That Rocks the Mabel. Nothing new or original, but I love Gravity Falls for its fun plotlines, lovable characters, humor, setting, mysteries, and even some great lessons, so this was enjoyable, and it could be a great way to get kids to read. It was fun to see how the episodes would be adapted into writing. I think Tracey West did a good job at that.

For those of us who can't enough of Gravity Falls, Pining Away offers an easy and pleasant read. This particular book adapts two separate episodes, "Double Dipper" (where Dipper clones himself in a misguided plan to woo his older crush, Wendy) and "The Hand That Rocks the Mabel" (where Mabel fends off the unwelcome attentions of creepy psychic Gideon). Adapter Tracey West occasionally adds asides that flesh out the characters and themes about unrequited love, without losing the show's trademark humor or strangeness; a quick read for adults and fun for kids. Includes black-and-white art from the show.
