Becca Campbell is a mother, friend, and widow to a war hero (may he rot in hell). She just wants to raise her daughter right and keep her bed-and-breakfast afloat in this economy. Her traumatic past leaves her with no desire for a relationship—until Grayson James walks through her door. He’s not the type of man you can easily say “no” to. Becca can’t quite understand the pull she feels toward him. But then his controlling nature starts to push her away—and into Ray McNeil’s comforting arms. Which is right where Ray has always wanted her.
Who will Becca choose?
Will she finally give in to her feelings for Ray, or continue the tumultuous relationship with Grayson? Only one thing is certain—either choice will mean saying goodbye to caution.
I am a Domestic Engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging, yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine) and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work all of this magic in the beautiful state of New Hampshire.
Before becoming a Domestic Goddess (not really), I spent over a decade working in the medical field where I wore more hats than the Queen.
I have had a love for the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn't reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures. Finally, I have been putting a pen to paper allowing my characters to come to life. When I don't have a pen and paper in hand, you can often find me laughing at the conversations my characters are having in my head.
Forgive me as this is a long, long review. You've been warned.
"SPOILER ALERT" - don’t read the review if you don’t want to know what happens.
- SPOILER ALERT!!! -
"Goodbye Caution" - a most fitting title.
Drama, Drama, Drama – this novel is full of drama.
I’ve read the reviews, and I respect every reader who rated it four or five stars. That being said, I’ve got to ask – WTF?! No, seriously. WTF?! Is it just me? Am I the only one who had issues with the novel? Why then, you ask, did I continue to read? The only answer I can give you is that it’s like a car accident – I couldn’t look away. Mind you, half-way thru and I quickly started skimming the pages just so I could end it. But I digress. Please, let me get this out and once I’m done then you can have your say. Maybe you’ll agree. Then again maybe you won’t. And before you say anything, yes, I did read the “warnings” provided at the end of the synopsis:
- SPOILER ALERT!!! -
“Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language and violence.”
Players: Becca Campbell (Heroine, widow, runs an Inn of sorts) ; Grayson (Gray) James (Hero, filthy rich, alpha male) ; Morgan Campbell (Becca’s 10 year-old daughter) ; George Campbell (Becca’s dead husband) ; Ray (friend who’s in love with Becca)
- SPOILER ALERT!!! -
Becca was mentally and physically abused by her late husband, George, who’s been dead for seven years. Enter Gray, who comes to stay the Inn for three weeks to relax and ski with friends. When he meets Becca for the first time, he’s completely head over heels. On the very same day he meets her, Gray is caressing her cheek. Later that day he’s pushing her up against the wall several times kissing her hard, and trying to fondle her breast. She breaks away. These displays of affections continue the second day. He’s fallen in love with Becca, and she him. Her daughter, Morgan, who he loves starts calling Gray “daddy.” He organizes her office, then proceeds to advise Becca how to run her business, what to do with her money, etc. He proceeds to cancel the two weddings she’s booked to take place at the Inn. He replaces her bed with a king size one – the current one is not long enough for him. They have sex many times without any contraception. Turns out she loves having her ass spanked, and the harder the better. He tells Becca they’re building a house on the property, making renovations to the Inn, that they’re getting married, and having a baby. Gray makes plans to attend the “parent-teacher” meeting at Morgan’s school with Becca. None of this is discussed between them; she’s told (and yes, I get that he’s an “alpha male.”) I should mention at this point that they’ve only been together for three days, and within those three days they’ve also had several arguments where Becca is snapping at Gray, and vice-versa. Apologies are quickly given and the sexcapades continue. Both Gray and Becca are madly in love with each other. There are times when Becca questions if they’re moving too fast, but eventually those thoughts quickly dissipate. Moving on… Gray turns out to have a huge jealous streak (surprise, surprise) . At one point Becca gets upset at how jealous and demanding Gray is about an innocent conversation she has with another man and wants to know what they said word-for-word. She slams the door in his face when she feels he doesn’t trust her. His response?
- SPOILER ALERT!!! -
"“I’m trying my hand at being calm. I can’t do this right now.”
I hear Becca’s feet on the steps. I rush to open my door, but before I can even open my mouth to speak, she puts her hand up to dismiss me. That rude fucking ... ugh! I am pissed now! I charge after her. “How dare you?” I yell. “I have this team in place to protect your arse, and this is how you treat me? You disrespect me in front of my employees? What do you have to say for yourself?” I feel crazy. She’s got me absolutely mad! “Get out!” “That’s it? Get out? Sweetheart, you better take a moment and really think about if that’s what you want, because I’ve about had it! I walk out this door and we are done! Finished! Do you understand me?” I try to calm down. I take a breath and realize what I just said. I didn’t mean it. My eyelids are going a mile a minute, and she’s just standing there in disbelief. “Well?” I can barely speak. I feel as if I’m going to boot. She looks down. I feel dismissed. “Right,” I manage, and head toward the door.”"
(Don’t worry, he turns around and goes back and apologizes.)
- SPOILER ALERT!!! -
He gets upset every time Becca talks to another man. It doesn’t help that pretty much all the men in the small town of New Hampshire are in love with her. When Gray finds out there was a strange man on the property, he hires bodyguards to follow Becca and Morgan at all times. Enter Ray, a friend of hers who’s madly in love with her and has been for over a year. Becca is now confused as to who she loves. Gray and Ray come up with a solution. They’ll share her on alternating on days for a month so she can make up her mind and pick one of them, except on Wednesdays because they understand that she needs a break. (Such gentlemen. Cue eye-rolls. What? You didn’t think my eyes would be rolling at all of this?) Of course both men are upset with her when she follows their schedule, and really pissed when they don’t get their way, and the fact that she’s having sex with both of them (not at the same time because after all, this is a love story) . Accusations and cruel words are tossed at Becca by both men; many, many more arguments occur; feelings of love is threatened to be taken away; and she has sex with them both (not at the same time because…well, I already told you why) , all of which becomes a never-ending circle.
- SPOILER ALERT!!! -
At one point Gray spanks Becca so hard during sex that leaves her ass sore and very red. She gets upset at this; drives down to see her friend, Ray (at this point she's still thinking of him as a friend), pulls her pants and undies down, lays down so he can apply aloe to her ass. Again, WTF?! Now, I may be wrong here, but I would think a woman who was physically abused severely by her late husband would not enjoy getting her ass spanked during sex. But like I said, I could be wrong, and I understand every woman is different.
So I ask you, is it just me? Alpha males are one thing, but this? I’m sorry, but I find all of this does not make for a good story; it didn’t come across as realistic; I didn’t find it romantic one bit; and I didn't find it funny. But if you like it, more power to you. Perhaps it’s the writing style. I just know that I didn’t like this novel one bit. Good God! Half-way in and my head was spinning.
I’m going to stop right here. So much more goes on, but I think you understand what I’m getting at. I’m not going to tell you to read it or ignore it. This is all on you so don’t come back and blame me. And to those that loved it and found it to be romantic, sexy and fun (you know who you are) , please respect my opinion when I say I didn’t find it to be romantic, sexy, or fun.
One last thing, this novel is the first in a new series (a series I will not continue with.)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
My grandfather used to say "Common Sense ain't so common". No Kidding. I almost stopped reading the book several times. Not because the writing was bad...if fact, the writing was funny, quirky and fast paced. Its not that I wasn't not invested in the characters. I was so invested that I wanted to bitch slap several of them multiple times. The issue....No one in this book showed an ounce of common sense. Except maybe....well...um....nope....no one. Those boys jumping up and down singing bye bye bye. Yes, that was me wanting to jump up and down on the heads of just about Every Freaking Character.
Becca is living a cute B & B/Scrapbooking Retreat/Stables in New England. I can just picture it now. Love it. She has her daughter and is finally rid of her abusive husband who is MIA and declared dead by the military. Good riddance. She and her daughter have built a lovely life and built their own family with those they love around them.
Grayson is the nephew of their housekeeper. He comes to visit his aunt at the Cute B & B. There is instant chemistry between Grayson and Becca. I mean like hello. Nice to meet you. Lets throw down and do the dirty. In the store room where anyone and their dog could venture in. Goodbye Common Sense. Oh and to add in another lapse in judgement...lets let the 10 yr old daughter call him Daddy 5 freaking minutes after she meets him. Goodbye Common Sense.
Becca and Grayson are in Insta-Lust. They have some hot and heavy sex all over. But wait....maybe Becca should reconsider. There is Ray, that cute guy in town. Maybe she should wait to see what happens with him since NOTHING has happened for years before this. Goodbye Common Sense.
And the worst...absolute worst thumbing of the nose to Common Sense? Grayson is an overbearing, jealous, possessive, not-so-borderline abuse asswipe. Not the "oh so Alpha Male" kind of possessive. But the "get a restraining order" kind of possessive. Oh....lets not forget the STUPID arrangement the three of them make. Goodbye Common Sense.
I feel like a whore. Am I being a whore? I'm not sleeping with another man. Nope, I'm not being a whore! I'm just spending time with my best friend who happens to be male. Who happens to be in love with me....Okay, I'm an apprentice whore.
And the way Grayson talks to Becca? What the hell? Goodbye Common Sense. Goodbye Self Esteem. Goodbye Self Respect. I was so frustrated but then I realized...Damn I am so frustrated by this book. That means I must have bought into it, right? I hate it when that happens. Ms Ayres sucked me into her world of bat shit crazy people.
This is the first book in the series. I don't know if I will read the second. I really don't like these people but damn it...I want to know what happens next. Yep....Goodbye logical thinking.
I could instantly see myself becoming friends with Becca from Goodbye Caution. She's a hardworking, loving mother, a good employer and loyal friend. I'm going to tell you up front I'm Team Grayson. Woah momma is is HOT. I don't like giving away too much of the storyline in my reviews - but if you like an emotional, heartfelt novel, this book is for you. Expect humor, drama, love and lust.
Oh, one more thing. I absolutely love books that include emails/text messages/love notes between the characters and Goodbye Caution has plenty.
Ms. Ayres created a smorgasbord of delicious characters. Crazy, fast paced and fabulous.
The main character is hysterically funny and I adopted an entire new playlist of music in the process.
I loved and hated every character in this book. I laughed and cried for all of them as well. When an author can elicit that much emotion from a reader; that's real talent. Goodbye Caution is a wonderful read, the characters are well defined, I was in their heads from the beginning. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
This book has more twists and turns then going up a mountain! You can't help but love Grayson AND Ray. I really hope that Becca comes to a conclusion soon because Grayson is a force not to be reckoned with! I am excited for the rest of the series.
If you are looking for a wipe tears from your eyes, laugh out loud, Hot love story then look no further. Goodbye Caution will take you on a journey full of laughter, love, lust, anger, betrayal and a whole lot more. It's a rollercoaster ride that you will not want to get off from.
For 7 years Becca Campbell has been a single mother to her 10 year old daughter Morgan after the death of her abusive, S-O-B husband. Between running her B&B, Scrapbooking club & store, looking after the stables and being a mum Becca has no time or interest in having a relationship or finding love. Instead she creates a strong relationship and family with her employees. But, that is all about to change when a new visitor comes to stay at the B&B and turns her life on its axis.
"I was being poisoned by the intoxicating smell that is Grayson James. British, beautiful, lovely scent ... I'm doomed".
Enter Grayson *Gray* James. the nephew of her most valued employee and mother figure Hazel. Orphaned at a young age, it was Hazel who brought him up as her own. Needing to get away from his home in California. he decides to take his Aunties offer to go and visit. What he wasn't planning was the beauty who would steal his breath away. And through his persistence and stubbornness vows to make her his.
"I'm not going anywhere. Not here", I touch my temple. "Or here", I put my hand over my heart. "I'm completely smitten with you. It's insane, I know. This is not the reaction I am familiar with. I'm in uncharted water here, Becca. But I want to explore them with you."
Becca and Gray's relationship develops fast in such a short amount of time. But it works. The connection they have runs soul deep. Gray gets Becca in ways no-one else could and They are a perfect fit. And it also helps that Morgan loves him, and he loves her. She has him wrapped around her little finger.
"We are going to work out, sweetheart. I love you. I love her, too. I've never felt anything like it. I took pride in calling her my daughter today, and I loved hearing her call me 'daddy'. It was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard". ~ Grayson
"I'm in love with him. I'm in love with him and Morgan together. I'm in love with our out-of-the-ordinary, out-of-the-blue family. I feel like for the first time in twelve years, I can relax and take life in. I am content. I never knew what that meant until now". ~ Becca
But, it's not all rainbows and butterflies. Things start happening and Grayson's controlling and protectiveness pushes Becca away into the arms of her best male friend Ray.
Ray is lovely. He's the all American type of guy. Single father and has been in love with Becca for quite a while now. So when Becca runs to him, he's more than happy to be the person to comfort her. Soon after, Becca gets very confused with her feelings and starts questioning everything.
Crazy ideas are formed by the two men to try and help Becca decide.
Amusing text battles are sent back and forth between Grayson and Ray-- and by god what a pissing contest.
But what it comes down to. Who will Becca choose????
I am completely 100% Team Grayson on this. Sorry Ray, I do like you. But come on---who wouldn't want a 6ft 4", smoking hot, wealthy British man??
I LOVE this book. I love the characters. Becca is such a strong woman for what she endured in the past with her husband and is an amazing mum. Her inner personalities 'Sybil's' are just hilarious and will have you laughing constantly.
Morgan, she is the most sweetest, intelligent and funny little girl ever. You can tell she's Becca's daughter.
Hazel is so lovely. Even at 70 she shows you it's never too old to fall in love. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is an amazing Mother/grandmother figure for Becca and Morgan.
Grayson.~sighs~ Where do I start?? I love him. Simple as that. He is the perfect person for Becca. He loves her and Morgan and isn't afraid to fight for that love. He's persistent. He's protective. He's straight talking. Yes I wanted to shout at him quite a few times in the book, but I still love him. Oh and it helps that he knows just how to make her 'pray'. And shit, its HOT AS HELL!!!
Ray, is lovely. If you like the all American type. In my eyes, he's the safe option for Becca. And although I know he loves her, and would do anything to make her happy. I just don't think he's the right choice.
But I'll let you decide that for yourself.
I absolutely adore this author and I am itching to get my hands on the next instalment to this series. I want to know what's going to happen next, and by the little teasers Jacquelyn has given us on her fb page and Twitter I can see it being another rollercoaster ride of emotions. I CANT WAIT!!!
Jacquelyn is definitely an author to look out for, with her comedic wit, hot alpha males and brilliant story lines you know for a fact she's going to bring us many more amazing books in the future.
Go and grab your copy of Goodbye Caution now!! Believe me, you will not be disappointed.
------
Oh I love Grayson. I just want to crawl inside Jacquelyn's head so I can have him 24/7!!!
I made the mistake of picking this book up late at night planning on simply reading a few chapters to get a feel for it before bed. *insert hysterical laugh here* 5 a.m. rolls around and i am reading the last words of the book. My eyes felt like someone had put sand in them. It was a struggle to focus on the words but I was hooked and could not for the life of me put the book down. After a short nap, I got up, grabbed a coffee and dove straight into the second book of the series. So, you might ask if I liked the book...No. I FLOVED it!!!
First off, Jacquelyn Ayres' method of writing is intoxicating. I laughed so hard many times. She gave me lots of great flashbacks to the 90's and I personally related with the main female character Becca. In the book, Becca has these life theme songs for the different moments of her life. I do that all the time. Another thing, she has these inner selves that play out in her mind. Kind of like having the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other, but only more animated and way more than two. It was hysterical. I loved it!! Becca is a devout church attender like me. *clouds clear and rays of sunshine beam down with a choir of angels coming down...AMAZING GRACE (Gracie hehehehe) HOW SWEET THE SOUND!!* You'll have to read to find out the true meaning of this. *wink*
Now onto the plot of the book...Becca is a single mother to her daughter Morgan. She runs a B&B that is way more than a simple bed and breakfast. Becca does weddings, scrapbook weekends and even stables horses. So she is a busy woman. She was married to a brutal monster of a man who is presumed dead from a military mission. Becca has two extremely close friends. Ray is also a single parent of a little girl named Annie. He has helped her many times with the B&B and as a coparent to the kids. Hazel is an older woman who works and lives at the B&B with her. Life was going smoothly for Becca...until....
Grayson is Hazel's nephew who came to visit his aunt. Hazel raised Grayson after his parents died. She was like a mother to him. As soon as Grayson lays eyes upon Becca...FIREWORKS!!! He is a persistent man and finally breaks her defenses down. Simple enough? NOPE!! Now we discover that Becca's best friend Ray has always been in love with her but wanted to give her time to heal her mental wounds given to her by her ex.
Now Becca is stuck with a hard choice. Yes, she loves Ray, but is it THAT way? She knows she has strong feelings for them both. What will she do? Ray has been her contstant for 5 years. Grayson awakens something deep within her. Neither was willing to let her go. *Queue wrestling announcer...LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEE!!*
There's more to tell you but I don't want to spoil it for you. Just read the book! It's amazing and I could not get enough of it. The book was well written and like I said before, addicting!! Throughout the book, I was in an internal tug-of-war. #TeamGrayson to #TeamRay. I felt like the character on Batman Two-Faced. Half of me had on a British Flag with a cup of tea screaming for Grayson. The other half had on the US flag with a beer in hand screaming for Ray! In the meantime, the head cheerleader is screaming at me to make my damned mind up already! *Queue Should I Stay or Should I Go Now* It was so hard to decide for myself. I knew Becca was doomed!!
****UPDATE*** at first I gave this book a 4.5 stars. I have changed that.. This book now gets 5 stars. Only thing I want to say is read both books before you review the first. Review them as a series and not just as one book at a time. And keep an open mind. This Series will change your life if you let it.
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. I gave this book 4.5 stars. This is the first book that I have read from this Author. This is book one in the Lost & Found Series.
This is Becca, Grayson and Ray's story.
OK Becca was in a bad marriage and lost her husband in the war. Now all she wants to do is raise her daughter and live her life. She does not trust men at all! She runs her B&B and is happy with all that she has. That is until she meets her employee's (and second mom's) nephew, Grayson. Grayson is an alpha male if there every was one. Now he has come to visit his Aunt and has fallen, love at first sight! He will stop at nothing to get her, and although Becca fights him at first she gives in. Then Grayson in his alpha ways does something that pushes her into the arms of her best friend Ray who has always been in love with Becca. Now that Becca knows how Ray feels what is she going to do? Is she going to go back to the impossible man Grayson or is she going to give the sweet man that would never do the things that Grayson is doing to her a chance? You will be caught by surprise in this love triangle that will leave your head spinning and wondering which way is up!!
OMG! First I will tell you what I didn't like and why I only gave this story a 4.5 (rounded up:)) This book went FAST! I mean I don't think I would have time to like someone let alone love them in the time that Becca and Grayson did. I do believe in love at first sight. But I also believe that everything else happens at a slower pace. I also believe that after all that Becca has been through that she would not put up with all of Grayson's dominating ways! There is no way! I mean some of the things that he dominated were ok, but he did push it way more then he should have. But all of that put aside. I did love this story and was drawn into it from the very beginning. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. And the triangle didn't happen just like that, it just kind of happened and I did like that too, it was not like she just decided hey I want to date two men. You will be shocked at all the things that happen in this book. It is not just a love triangle. Becca has to learn to trust and love again. And sometimes that is hard when you have been through so much. Grayson is charming and wonderful and sexy as sin! Get ready for the ride of your life, hold on and don't let go. Thank you for this amazing story. I look forward to reading book two in the series. <3
I will be honest with you, this book is like finding a treasure in the middle of a garage sale. When I first started reading it, I was expecting a funny love story, what I got was intense feelings and two new characters that I adore. While there are a lot of references regarding the Fifty Shades series in the book and to be honest, I found myself having the same feelings for this book as I did Fifty Shades, don't be tricked into thinking this is an attempt to be a knock off of that series. This series is strong enough to stand on its own merits and I for one am so thankful I found this book.
Becca is a single mom, raising her daughter Morgan, living at the B&B she owns and runs. She is content with her life, although she knows she needs to spend more mommy time with Morgan, she is good. After her abusive marriage to her ex husband came to an end when he went missing during war, she moved on to establish herself as a strong woman who could take care of the needs her and her daughter had. She created a family with her employees. There was nothing she wouldn't do for any of those in her life.
Grayson, the nephew to one of the employees named Hazel, came for a visit. Hazel had never had children and raised Grayson from an early age after he was left orphaned. He is an Englishman who has the ego and no sugar coating policy. He is also a successful businessman who prides himself on going after what he wants with persistence and stubbornness.........and he wants Becca the minute he sees her. So I am sure you can guess that as the book goes on, his nickname becomes Gray and believe me it fits him.
Not going to give you any spoilers, believe me the story itself deserves to be read with a fresh pair of eyes so you can absorb every single detail, but I will say this was a relationship that moves FAST. It is like they cram ten years of living into two days. The ups and downs, the fights and make up sessions, all just fit those two characters. I laughed at them, especially when you could tell he wanted to say make a reference to what his palms were feeling when he was getting frustrated with her, to her comments about the multiple personalities of Becca/Sybil that were flowing through her head.
I LOVE this book and I had mixed emotions at the end. It wasn't a huge cliff hanger thank God, and I was thrilled to know there would be more of these characters coming my way, but I want to know what happen to Stace, I want to know where George is, I want to know what is going on with Ray. Will Hazel find happiness, where is Melissa? So many questions that will have to wait till the next book, but I am happy to wait if it means I get another book by this author with this family of characters. It felt like I had my warm Fifty Shade blanket around me once again and I could just lose myself in the domineering male and the strong willed, fire cracker female. I could just sit back and watch the fireworks and enjoy the show. I HIGHLY recommend this book to you readers. It is beyond five stars for me.

First I want to say that this book had me hooked from page one. I can't believe the whole suspense and drama that this story had.
Becca is a widowed woman with a little girl to take care of. When her husband was confirmed dead in a bombing in the war, she received a life insurance settlement and that helped her get her bed & breakfast started. She has Hazel who has been like a mother to her to help her with her business. Well Hazel's nephew, Grayson decides to go on vacation and stay a couple of weeks. And boy is he a site!
Grayson is Hazel's nephew, who happens to be British. He is pretty well off, has his own company, he writes songs and he's a typical alpha male. He instantly falls for Becca but Becca isn't easily persuaded, not after all the abuse she received when married to her now deceased husband, George.
Becca has steered clear from men for 7 years now and she hasn't given any the time or day. She has plenty of men frolicking over her and are awaiting for her to give them a chance. But she just can't seem to give any of them a chance, until Grayson appears at her Bed & Breakfast.
The sparks fly for them and they start their romance. Grayson is a very jealous guy and he has tendencies to put her down at times when he's very angry. Becca has told him that she is not dealing with that since she was already in an abusive relationship, she won't stoop to that level again.
Well then comes Ray in the picture, he's been waiting for Becca to give him a chance for 5 years now and now that he's back in her life, he will do whatever he can to get her to accept him. Becca finds herself in a situation where she feels cornered in. Both Ray and Grayson decide to make a pack and they will share her up until she makes up her mind who she wants. She has a very short lived romance with both of them, but when her friend Stacey comes and stays with her, she opens up Becca's eyes and pretty much tells her who she really loves in this love triangle.
Becca has realized that she loves Grayson and that's who she wants to be with, so she leaves Ray to be with Grayson. But it turns out that her ex-husband is not dead and has returned and has threatened her telling her that he wants money. He tried kidnapping her, but that backfired on him. The only question now is.....who is helping him in trying to destroy her and her family. Her friend Stacey was raped and beaten pretty badly, now they need to find out why and who has done this.
I found myself so enthralled in this book that I wanted to cry when I was done with it. I immediately jumped into Goodbye Secrets. I have to say that you will not find yourself bored in any part of this book. The characters feels so real and the chemistry between Grayson and Becca is off the charts. The sex scenes are out of this world.
Believe me, you will not regret reading this book, it is freaking awesome! Jacquelyn, I totally give this book 5 stars all the way. If I could give it more stars, I would definitely do so!
Do you want to embark on an emotional rollercoaster? Well, Goodbye Caution by Jacquelyn Ayres delivers a ticket to that ride!
Becca Campbell has been lost for seven years. Her pasts has been haunting her. Her only wish is to have a normal life with the people she loves. Between the stables, the scrapbooking store, and her B & B, she does not have time to think about a relationship. When an unexpected visitor arrives at her B & B, her world is turned upside down. Grayson is the nephew of Hazel, Becca's employee. Sparks fly immediately when they meet. They soon develop a relationship with many ups and downs, one of them being Ray, Becca's best friend. Ray has always wanted Becca. When Grayson and Becca encounter some difficult times, Ray is there to pick up the pieces. Becca is caught between two men. The question is ... Who will win her heart?
I have to be honest and say that I'm not a big fan of love triangles. In my opinion, you can love two people at the same time, but not with the same intensity. I usually have a good idea who I want the main character to end up with. In this case, I had no freakin' clue!!! Grayson and Ray drove me nuts!!!! The mood swings that these two have?!?! Be prepared for some intense text messaging exchanges between Grayson and Ray. These two do not backdown! I even got the impression that they almost forgot the most important thing while marking their territory ... Becca!
One thing is for certain, Becca has two sexy man who make her see stars! Grayson and Becca have A LOT of ups and downs. I was ready to do a personal intervention at one point. I was so frustrated!!! Grayson can really be infuriating at times, but he does love Becca. Their relationship was a bit too rushed for me. It's INSTA-LUST/INSTA-LOVE from the moment that they meet (I won't deny that their chemistry is HOT!!!!!) Even Becca's daughter, Morgan, calls him Daddy after a few days. That was too fast in my opinion. Grayson is a real piece of work! I wanted to slap him one moment and then I was swooning the next! Yup! Extreme rollercoaster ride!!!! It was exactly the same thing with Ray. Becca knows that she has strong feelings towards him, but she never really did anything about it. Oh boy! Is she ever changing that! It was kind of weird to see Grayson and Ray develop a kind of Bromance. That, I did not see coming. Betrayal, lies, drama, jealousy, love, romance is all on the menu. This book sure was filled with twists and turns I never saw coming.
What I really loved was Becca's relationship with her daughter Morgan, her friendship with Melissa and the ladies of her scrapbooking class. Becca is really funny and lovable.
I give, Goodbye Caution, by Jacquelyn Ayres 3.5 heart-pumping, sexy, enjoyable stars! This book will make you feel all kinds of mixed emotions. I can't wait to see what will happen in the next installment.
This book had me captivated from start to finish! I don't think I have ever had such conflicting emotions when reading a book like I did with this one!!! When you read this book you don't just meet Becca & Grayson & the rest of the characters you also get to meet the Sybecca's!! They will have you laughing without warning & usually at very serious points in the book!! Becca has lots of quirks that make you love her right from the beginning, these are what help her cope with everything that gets thrown her way. She has had a tough past but is really trying hard to overcome it all. Grayson is very controlling & cannot understand why he loses all control when he is with Becca! Sometimes you will want to hit him with what comes out of his mouth, but in the next breath he will go all Alpha on Becca & you will absolutely adore him! I think the beauty of Grayson is that he really is completely clueless when it comes to his relationship with Becca & it is a beautiful thing to watch him trying to work it out in his own mind! Unfortunately while he is doing that there are lots of other things going on that he has no control over & occasionally takes it out on Becca & says some pretty unforgiveable things to her. Becca does not back down though & stands her ground when she needs to & when she does it makes you want to stand up & clap your hands to cheer her on!! I think sometimes Grayson forgets Becca is a single mum & has had to grow a backbone & stand on her own 2 feet, and she does it well! Jacquelyn has hit the nail on the head telling the story of a single parent & everything that goes with it, especially when you already have children & want to explore a new romantic relationship. Its not always straight forward, there are a lot of considerations to be made & I think she has captured that perfectly!! If your looking for a book that is not your average 'boy meets girls, falls in love & lives happily ever after' then this is the book for you!! Go & buy it now, you wont regret it!! I really, really loved this book & I adore Grayson & Becca both individually & as a couple.. Now I'm off to read Goodbye Secrets to find out what happens next!!! Can't wait!!
GOODBYE CAUTION by Jacqueline Ayres Book one in series 5 out of 5 It's not often that you find a diamond in the rough. Jacqueline's writing is polished and sparkles with a great story line and characters your heart will desire. GOODBYE CAUTION is a breath of fresh air. Its main character Becca, is a strong, smart, independent, single parent who runs her own successful B&B business. Add to that, her funny inner thoughts and her 'conscious multi Sybille,( or as she cleverly calls them Sybecca)' personalities embellishes this fantastic story. Becca's character is very complexed. She is an apparent widow to a very abusive jerk who is thought to have been killed in the call of duty. He treated Becca and her daughter horribly causing Becca to find it hard to let herself love again until she meets her friend Hazel's very attractive British nephew, Grayson. He happens to be famous except to Becca's knowledge. With Becca's life threatened, The search is on to find out who is the mastermind by hind it all. Read GOODBYE CAUTION and get lost in a great story. GIVE ME MORE!
I absolutely loved this book, but this is a love it or hate it kind of book. It is love at first sight and the relationship moves faster than most people are used to. When love is this fresh and intense, it tends to cause extreme reactions to the simplest of actions. Just imagine when these actions are not all that simple. I was a little turned off by the love triangle that developed especially when the love between the main characters was so passionate. I believe the love triangle will be important in future books included in this series. Goodbye Caution is a quick paced, funny, sad, tumultuous, love it or hate kind of book. The heroine Becca Campbell has spent the last seven years trying to overcome the abuse that her dead husband committed. She has pushed away all the men in her small New England town until a very sexy British hero arrives. Grayson James is the epitome of the alpha male with serious anger management issues. It is love at first sight, but strong emotions lead to jealousy, betrayal, and as a result a love triangle. Ray McNeil has been Becca's rock and best friend for the last five years. Ray has been in love with Becca for all those years. Grayson's anger and stupidity leads Becca straight into Ray's arms. The fight is fierce but there is only one true winner. There is also a small cliffhanger. If you enjoy an action packed love story with lots of twists and turns, but with serious emotions running rampant this is the book for you! If you can't stand love that moves at the speed of a runaway train, characters that can be completely ridiculous at times, so much so you want to yell and smack them, or the emotional rollercoaster that will ensue from reading about the abuse the heroine endured than this book is not for you. The one thing that did impress me the most was that 100% of all proceeds went to support women that have been in an abusive situation.
Goodbye Caution is a heartfelt romantic novel that takes the reader on one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride. Author Jacquelyn Ayres weaves a thoroughly entertaining tale that is full of romance, drama, intrigue, sexy lust, and humor. It is a riveting tale that easily draws the reader into Becca Campbell's story.
Becca Campbell is a war widow (her husband was abusive) who is raising a ten year old daughter and running a B&B in New England. She meets Grayson James, who is from England, when he comes to visit his Aunt Hazel, a housekeeper at the B&B. There is an instant attraction between Becca and Grayson ... holy hotness ... oh my goodness ... but their tumultuous relationship has its issues and ups & downs, which sends Becca reaching out for the comforting arms of Ray McNeil, the guy next door who has always wanted her. Caught in the middle of a love triangle, Becca is going to have to say goodbye to caution and choose which guy will win her heart!
Goodbye Caution is a wonderful story with characters who are realistic, flawed and easy to relate to. It has a great mixture of emotions, humor and sexiness that easily draws the reader into the characters' world with their issues, love triangle, steamy romance, and an unexpected twist and open ended conclusion that leaves the reader wanting more, and impatiently waiting for the story to continue in the second book of the series. If you are looking for a sexy romantic novel that is fast paced and just plain fun to read, then this is the book for you!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review and participation in a virtual book tour event hosted by Bare Naked Words.
It was refreshing and a pleasant surprise to read a story about characters who were adults and therefore aware of what they wanted (in a sense, as if the characters always knew exactly what they wanted there probably wouldn’t be much of a story to be told) and who weren’t so naive in their personalities. Becca was a wonderful character, she was quirky, strong, funny and a lovely and caring mother. She definitely annoyed me at times with the decisions she made and her thought process but the fact I was invested enough to get annoyed at a character is always proof to me that the character has got to me and is someone I am enjoying reading about. Grayson was a character I had trouble with because there were some aspects I liked about him and others I didn’t. There’s no argument that he was sexy and an alpha male but he was sometimes too possessive and jealous and calling a women he is meant to love a whore takes jealous boyfriend a little too far for me. I was able to move past this though as this was obviously a story about a turbulent relationship so heated arguments are definitely expected. The plot itself was fast-paced, there was a lot of drama. The constant back and forth arguing between Becca and Grayson did get a little irritating but there was plenty happening within the story that I never became bored and I was 100% hooked, wondering what was going to happen next, if Grayson and Becca were ever going to sort things out and settle and what else was going to come along to mix up the plot. A fast-paced story, packed full of drama, romance, and passion, with well developed characters means overall I give this book a solid 4 smooches! Bethany
WOW! It's been a whole day since I finished this book and am still shocked by it all. Be prepared to be elated, sad, ticked off, find it sexy, and then hurting again while reading.
Becca owns her own business. She has employees and a wonderful woman to help her basically is her so called mother in a sense. She also has a daughter and a very hurtful past. Her employee has her nephew coming into town and Becca is okay with that until she meets him. He's delicious and it excites and deters her.
Grayson came to his Aunt's place of employment to stay for several weeks and meets the lovely voluptuous Becca. He finds her sexy but doesn't fall for his charms like other's have done in the past. And that makes him very interested in pursuing her.
Becca has several men wanting her and it makes Grayson very jealous. There is a situation- several in fact that hurt him and Becca in the process. There are twists/turns, sexiness, fights, anger, people hurt and then more in this awesome book.
I loved Becca. She's strong and stands up for herself and her daughter. Just loved her especially at the end... she rocked it!
Grayson- Man I wanted to hate him. I did, but I couldn't. He was a jerk, immature at times but truly did love Becca and Morgan(her daughter). I loved his relationship with Morgan too.. that was so sweet to watch.
You will fall in love, laugh, cry, be devastated and more with this book. I can not wait until we get the next book to find out what will happen next with that ending!!!!
Goodbye Caution was a very enjoyable book. The story centers around the main character Becca Campbell who is a war widow (her spouse was not such a great guy) who is trying to make a good foundation of life for her daughter running a business.
Enter Greyson James nephew of one of Becca's employees ,Hazel who comes to vist his aunt. The thing about Greyson is he is from England. A very British type of guy.....well a very hot British guy I should say. At first sight Greyson's gets Becca's panties a little damp, and so you kinda get the drift of the story.......
Greyson and Becca have some up and down moments, and there is even a little love triange involved but you will have read the book to see what that's all about.
The story is funny, laughable, sexy and just a really good read for all. The supporting characters also in the book are all great, they give the book that little extra kick making this book worthwhile to read.
I was given an ARC from the author for an honest review.
Meet Becca. A business woman, a single mother but most of all an independent lady, with a plan, a life and a daughter she dotes on.
Unbeknown to her she's also the light in a lot of men's eyes...BANG...in walk the eyes of Grayson. Now prepare yourself because you're in for one hell of a ride. Whirlwind romance doesn't even touch the sides. Cram years worth of ups and downs and things you can only begin to imagine into a few weeks and you'll be on the right tracks.
Becca and Grayson fall in love, much to Morgans approval. But, not everyone approves. Tested friendships, ghosts from the past, and choices they make together and apart test their love on every level.
It's fast moving and emotion provoking. You'll love, hate, scream and sing with this story, as well as having tears roll down your face laughing. The balance is perfect.
It ends on a cliffhanger. Predictable? For me, NO. Which means there's only one thing I can do now. I'm diving into book 2 - Goodbye Secrets with not even some much as hint of hesitation.
I highly recommend this book. Well done Jacqueline.
Ok - for a start this book is as funny as it is sexy!!
Becca has her life back on track after the death of her abusive husband, she runs a niche business, works hard and really doesn't have the time or inclination to involve a man in it.
Enter Grayson! He literally explodes into her life and turns it upside down, he's demanding, controlling and sexy AS!!
** How about this? I insert two fingers inside of her. Shes already wet. Yes, she practically cries **
He falls in love with her daughter and the feeling is reciprocated making things even harder for Becca.
Throw into the mix a very strange agreement between Gray and Becca's 'best male friend that's in love with her', a madman and a 'best female friend who has had a brain transplant' and i think that this book will keep you on your toes! and laughing out loud!
Jacquelyn Ayres' voice is truly unique and her words just flow off the page in a highly amusing and individual style. But don't let this mislead you into thinking this book is flimsy chic lit. Becca has real issues that need resolving and she is a gutsy woman with all the strengths and definitely the flaws, that make us human. You can't help but get right inside all the characters' heads, and it's a roller-coaster of a place to be! All I can say is, hop on for the ride and you'll have a great time. The sex is hot and emotions run high but you can't help falling in love with all three main characters, despite their imperfections. And just when you think it's all over ... the story takes a new twist that leads you smoothly into book two when it comes out. I look forward to the follow up.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoy a book where all of the characters even the supporting cast are written so you can relate to them and see yourself being friends with them . Goodbye Caution is one of those books. It is also a nice change that the main character is a widow and a mom instead of a virgin or naive and in college. Not mention that Grayson is so stinking hot
Another thing I enjoy in a book is when the characters share emails or texts back and forth. I don't know why but they always make me smile. Goodbye Caution has them and I love it. Jacquelyn writes her dialog in a fun and unique way. IT made it a fast enjoyable read.
Goodbye Caution is full of love, humor, and drama. Get it today and meet Becca and Grayson.
This review was posted on Stephanie's Book Reports.
Goodbye Caution is a book with a main character who is independent, hilarious, loving, generous, and kind... unless you piss her off... She won't take no shit!! theirs a love triangle with two sexy as hell men who know what they want and won't give up! you might become part of the triangle with these two, I know I did!! If you're the kind of person who loves the following movie types... this book is for you : romance, comedy, action, suspense, mystery, theirs some pretty hot scenes in there as well ;) I don't like saying too much in my reviews because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it and reads the reviews before purchase.. If you are one of the people who don't like cliffhangers... the second book Goodbye Secrets is out 2/26/14 !! This is easily my favorite series of all time, the author is pretty damn fantastic as well!!
Jacquelyn Ares has out done herself with her first installment of the lost and found series. I love her character choices and thoroughly enjoyed the main character Becca Cambpells different personalities in her head. I found it hysterical at times, really laugh out loud stuff. I really enjoyed the love triangle between Grayson and Ray. Steamy. Wow poor Becca I wish I were her having two gorgeous men fighting over me. You really do get lost in the story with those two. You end up hating and loving both at times. This book displayed a lot of passion (in the bedroom...ah hum) and mystique. I did question the intensity so fast but I did read the prologue. It is so important to read those it helped me to understand the pace better. Jacquelyn has a fan. I can't wait to read book number two.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Jacquelyn Ayres successfully tapped into every possible emotion I have. The book was hysterical as it referred to many books, movies, and music that I love as well. Becca cracked me up with her "praying". Grayson killed me with his adorable morse-code blinking eyes, sexy British accent, and "selfish" ways. Ray had me on a roller coaster ride from the get go and boy could he get my hormones a flyin'! The supporting characters like Morgan, Hazel, and others kept this novel amazing. The book was fast paced and outrageously funny! And Side Mouthed Shelley...don't even get me started...such a hoot! I would most certainly recommend this book if you want a sexy, good laugh. I can't wait for book 2 coming out pretty soon!
Becca had a hard time with trust and relationships after a marriage gone wrong to a war hero who is no longer living. She was a driven mother and business owner that was swept off her feet by Grayson but he had flaws in which brought up her walls and had her leaning on a best friend who had hidden feelings. Ray feelings didn't stay hidden for long, oh NO...
To say this was a journey would be outting it lightly. To say you will be like "WTH are you thinking Becca" oh yeah that was me buy I was swept off my feet right along with her. I was on the rollercoaster of "what will happen next" from beginning to end. Now I need book 2 to hurry up and get me off this never ending cycle my brain is on.
This book has everything anyone could want!! Really guys trust me it does!!! If you are a sucker for romance, found of twisted story lines, lover of suspense, excited for intrigue, a few laughs, and some holy hotness scenes . . . . Then yes this is the book for you!!! DEFINITELY hooked from the beginning!!! Definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions . . . Sooo jump on board you won't be disappointed!!!
Definitely a bit cliffy BUT book 2 and 3 are out!!! What are you waiting for BUY them!!!! NOW!!!
Jacquelyn Ayres' "Lost & Found" series is nothing short of amazing! It's so erotic and steamy. I couldn't put it down...I had to know how it would end! I was up until 4:30am finishing #2! I laughed, I cried, I read one-handed...everything masterfully rolled into one incredible series. When you start into #1, you think things are moving a little fast and are a little jumbled, but wait for it, that's part of the plot! I have such a book hangover...nothing is going to compare to this for a loooong time. I can't wait for the Prequel to the series, "Goodbye Reservations," which is coming soon!
I swear I was on a roller coaster. One minute Becca was feeling and acting this way. The next she was totally different. Oh wait that is bipolar lol....
Grayson is totally the Hulk. Ray is a complete ass. Someone really should have shot George. Melissa is a kick ass woman!
Becca darling, grow up a little. You are smart, funny, and sometimes has a good head on your shoulders. Even though she was pushed into a situation she didn't want any part of. It's still back firing on her from both Grayson and Ray.
Unfortunately this one wasn't for me! I really wanted to like it. It sounded so good but everything in this book was like warped speed. Normally if you can sell me on the connection between the main couple I can buy into instant-a-love but unfortunately I wasn't sold on this at all. This was warped instant-a-love! I really hate not feeling a book and giving a low rating, but yea this was a not for me.
