He is focused. He is manipulative. He will do what he has to, to deliver 'The Project'. When the 'project target' is a fourteen year old girl from a one-parent family, most people would call him a paedophile. He does not consider himself to fit this description. He is a professional, managing 'The Project' through the twists and turns that life throws at it. He thrives on the complexities and gains succour only when the project is completed.
'The Project' asks the reader to consider the predator, victim and those who are mere collateral damage, to appreciate how differently our perceptions of what society condemns as 'unacceptable behaviour', can be. Our main characters are happy to post-rationalise some of these 'unacceptable behaviours' to ensure their preferred perceptions remain unchallenged.
"The Project" is not a comfortable read but hopefully highlights the ease with which undesirable situations can develop when circumstances are right. .
