OK, remember my review of Milly Taiden’s Federal Paranormal Unit series? I talked about how her books usually had good storylines to go along with the “bow chicka bow bow” and how much I enjoyed having a good story to read along with my dose of “down and dirty.”
Well, as much as I like stories about shifters working together for law and order and justice for all, and as much as I wanted this series to have a good story to go with aforementioned down and dirty . . . this didn’t do it for me. Of course, others think all the bedroom (and floor, and kitchen counter, and couch, etc.) calisthenics is just fine without a good story, and more power to them. But for me, without a good story it is simply a rather big disappointment.
All the stories in this two volume set are more along the lines of ‘erotica’ than ‘paranormal romance’ and none have a real story line at all. The business itself (the PPA) is simply a set piece, a flat painted background that never really does anything.
The only story I really could get a bite of was “Seduced by Santa” a story I had read before. Candice Kane adores Christmas, and has moved away from her rich, self-centered family to work and live in the poorest part of town to help disadvantaged children. When her community center is trashed she is afraid her Christmas for the children is destroyed. And when she is attacked in an alleyway she is sure her life is over with as well. Enter an unrelenting Christmas-hating Santa Elf, and things get interesting. Can they work together to save Christmas for the children?
Overall, if you are a fan of erotica without all the whips and chains, check this out, but don’t expect much story with the stories.

I don’t typically read paranormal stories as I tend to sticks to the genres of Women’s Fiction or Contemporary Romance. But I was surprised to find that I truly enjoyed this collection. I wasn’t expecting it to be so funny, spicy, or deliciously steamy. Ms. Carter provides the most creative and entertaining explanation of Santa that I have ever heard. Each story was well written with clever and biting humor sprinkled throughout. I suddenly find myself in dire need of a winter elf, werewolf, and a hot gargoyle or two.

Wow! This one is SUPER HOT!! You definitely need a glass of ice water or a cold shower on hand!
This is chock full of sexy alpha males and strong female characters. I like how all 5 stories connect but you don't need to necessarily read them all together. Only the first 2 stories are about the same couple per say. Lots of different paranormals throughout. All are extremely sexy stories but full of humor. I can't wait to read more from this author!

This set consists of extremely short stories with zero plot but decent sex scene. When I say zero plot,take it literally. No plot. At all. Just whatever paranormal creature working for PPA meets woman and straight away they have sex. Yes,sex scene is steamy and well written. If it had been a part of an actual story,it would be something to behold. As it is-they are collection of light porn descriptions. That's it.
If you are looking only for that,then go ahead,you will love them,but if you want a bit more,then you will be dissapointed.

Oh. My. Gargoyle! Working for her father's company, the Paranormal Protection Agency, Iliona is used to taking care of herself. But she's caught off-guard when her usually mild-mannered ex-boyfriend shows up unannounced, argumentative, and throws a punch at her. Unbeknownst to her, she has caught the eye of a co-worker who just happens to be a gargoyle and as gargoyles guard, Cal steps in to deal with her ex and sends him on his way. With the situation handled, she realizes that the only place where Cal can guard from is the ledge outside her bedroom window and finds the idea that he's seen everything a bit of a turn on. When she confronts Cal about it, his attraction is obvious and she quickly reassess her plans for the evening (pizza forgotten). What follows is one seriously hot sex scene in which we find out that Cal the gargoyle really is Hard as a Rock.

What's better than a gargoyle lover? Two. In this short, Iliona meets Cal's twin brother Granite, or Gran. After a fright at the office where Cal again comes to her rescue, Iliona plans to spend the evening engaged in a bout of life-affirming sex with her sexy gargoyle lover. What she didn't count on was that Cal had shared with his brother about his lover and planned to share her with his brother if she was receptive. Thank goodness she said yes and what was hot in Hard as a Rock was scorching in Between a Rock and a Hard Place as both Iliona and the reader get double the pleasure. I just want to know where I can sign up.

Haaaaawt … why yes he is … Jared Stone, that is. He may have been referring to a client’s Geman Sheppard (you have to read it to find out), but it definitely applies to him. And never was someone so lucky to be cursed as Eloise. Thanks to her vindictive ex-husband’s curse, she is unable to date a man without him suffering the consequences, be it acne, Pinocchio-nose, frog tongue, or chicken squawking. So with her job on the line, she makes a desperate move and goes to the Paranormal Protection Agency to hire a paranormal to escort her to the event so that her job remains safe and her date doesn’t become yet another victim to her ex’s evil curse. Eloise gets more than she expects with her werewolf escort, Jared. He is drawn to her immediately and is more than happy to see that her evening goes well, very well if he gets his way and as a werewolf, he always gets what he wants. Needless to say Ms. Carter delivers up another smoldering sex scene that will leave you breathing heavy and in need of dry panties. My favorite line in the story is when Eloise says to Jared, “Are you sure you’re not a were-donkey?” That says it all.

I’ll be honest, this was the story I wanted to read least in this collection. Seriously, the idea of being seduced by Santa is not very sexy. Ms. Carter, I am ashamed of doubting you. The concept of a blood line of winter elves that turn into Santa on one night of the year is reminiscent of The Santa Clause, but Tim Allen has nothing on Rhod Claus. And how could you possibly resist calling your heroine Candy Kane. What should have been corny, was so far from it. Again, Ms. Carter brings her “A” game in this short as she gives us one of the sexiest elves I’ve ever read about. Rhod and Candy generate some serious heat in the bedroom. The epilogue was a perfect way to wrap up the story and made me laugh out loud when Rhod tells Candy “Sweetheart, Santa coming is why you ended up in that state in the first place.” You’ll have to read the story to find out why.
Close Protection – ☆☆☆☆☆
Ashlee owns and operates her family’s bar and is being targeted by a gang for protection money. As there had been no need for protection before said gang moved into the neighborhood, she has no interest in paying for protection and even less in exchanging sex for protection as Roth, the leader suggested. Turns out that Ashlee is pretty handy with a bat and blade and manages to send the gang packing once again, but not before noticing the physical characteristic that marks Roth as a Pixie. As pixies are among the worst of the paranormals, she realizes that it’s going to take more than her bat to keep her and her bar so she contacts the PPA. Enter Zane. As he heads over to check out the bar before his shift is scheduled to start the next day, he discovers that Roth’s men are back and busting up the bar with Ashlee in it. He shifts and enters the fight. Unfortunately for Zane, Ashlee isn’t expecting anyone from the PPA nor is she expecting a wolf, so she assumes the worst and takes a swing at him too … and connects. Fortunately, the bat isn’t the only thing that connects in this story and readers are treated to yet another delightfully sexy read from Ms. Carter.
This is a wonderfully sexy collection of short stories that not only highlight Ms. Carter’s wit and knack for the double entendre, but also her talent for writing erotic scenes that are sure to get your juices flowing. I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.

"Gargoyles...guard," Cal ground out, his voice like a landslide. His knuckles cracked as his free hand snaked out to grab Kenneth around the throat.
"They do indeed." A little worried about the shade of purple Kenneth had turned, I reached out to pat Cal's arm. "You want to ease up on the death grip, sweetheart? I'd hate for you to get of his pulverized flesh under your fingernails."
Iliona has her hands full with her ex-boyfriend showing up unannounced and going off the deep end. Just when she thinks the situation is about to hit FUBAR level, Cal shows up and goes into extreme protective mode.
Seeing Cal in a whole new light, Iliona gives in to her feelings and O M G hotness ensues.

My eyes must've been like dinner plates as I stared at him, only widening farther when Cal came to stand level. They were freaking twins. The only difference I could see -- other than the dress sense -- was that the new guy was slightly broader in the shoulder and carried a vicious scar on one cheekbone. I recognized it. Someone had tried to take a chisel to him when he'd been in his stone form. Cal had one too, on his chest."
Iliona thought she had her hands full with Cal, the gargoyle of her dreams. Imagine her surprise when Gran appeared and Cal wanted to share her with his brother. What's a girl to do? Why say yes, of course.

Her ex had put a curse on her which infected any man that went out her and now she was persona non grata with the opposite sex. Having no other options, she seeks help from the Paranormal Protection Agency.
Jared Stone, a werewolf bodyguard, takes his assignment personally. He has the hots for Eloise and has since he literally ran into in the office.

When Candy was injured during an attempted mugging, Rhod and Jared came to her rescue. Somehign about the injured Candy called Rhod's soul and he can't help but fall in love with her.
Can Rhod continue to ignore the magic that calls to him at Christmas? Or will he give in and make all of Candy's dreams come true...

I loved this book bundle
the first book Hard as a Rock Iliona an agent for the Paranormal Protection Agency on her way home she is confronted by her ex boyfriend who hates the paranormal s he decides to attack her in the process of punching her a co-work of Iliona's a gargoyle named Cal interferes and stops her ex from attacking her she realizes the attraction to cal is too irresistible to pass up i really liked this story i was sad how it ended but it made me excited to read the next book!
the second book Between a Rock and a Hard Place we continue to see the progression in Cal and Iliona's relationship Iliona is at her office and noticed that no one is their so she goes to search and find her coworkers she hear a sound and find someone trying to steal from the agency but what she finds a huge figure who comes at Iliona she falls over she hears it coming toward her but she was saved by a gargoyle she thinks its cal he looks like cal however it is his twin granite and know the twosome become a threesome. i loved how steamy the loving in this one is hot hot hot!!!
book three Protect and Service Eloise is a women who needs to find a date to her job annual ball she works at a hospital sadly her ex cast a curse on her that makes it so every guy she shows interest in her or goes out with her has issues like the get saver acne and worse changing the sizes of body parts. Jared is a werewolf when he see Eloise he know she is his mate she hires him to be her date to he jobs ball the chemistry between the two is explosive the curse was lifted after they mate and Jared asks her to marry him all in all its a sweet story i loved it.
book four Seduced by Santa Candice Kane loves Christmas she work at a community center and all their plans are ruined by a thief who stole all the gifts and they might have to cancel the party. Rhod is an elf a special elf however he hate Christmas you see he is Santa but he doesn't want to be Santa he thinks kids are brats and the reindeer has it out for him he is a rare elf he is a winter elf he has the clause blood lines the main blood line so every Christmas eve he gains a couple hundred pounds which he hates he and his partner rescue Candice from an attack in a secluded alley she shows him the joys of Christmas and makes him want to be the Santa he should be not a bitter one but a happy one definitely a great story one that is magical
book five Close Protection Ashlee Bishop owns a local bar she is being harassed by a group of pixies they threaten her if she doesn't pay for their protection the will cause her problems it became so bad she went looking for a card she saw for the Paranormal Protection Agency Zane Holder is an agent who want to get off his current case to watch over a spoiled clingy rich girl who has a crush on Zane so while on his way he walked by bishops he smells fear and blood he finds the pixies attacking and destroying Ashlee bar destroying her fathers tables her history Zane come in and he attacks the pixies she passes out waking up she finds a werewolf and she attacks him with a piece of wood she realizes that he was saving her and she realizes that she attacked a werewolf and she passes out she has a rare gift she can make his wolf go back to his human form the love and the protection between the two are hot and powerful.
all in all this is a great bundle book series its worth every penny i absolutely loved this book 5 gold stars!!!!

Hard as a Rock- Hoping for the pizza man when Illiona answers the door, boy does she get a surprise. Her day has just gone from rough to irritating in a matter of seconds. The last person she wanted to see was her ex. And when he starts pulling punches an unexpected rescuer swoops in and saves the day. Not only does Cal save her, he takes her mind off of things by distracting her with his big hard gargoyle features. This one is straight the point steamy.
Between a Rock and a Hard Place-Illiona’s job at the Paranormal Protection Agency has her dealing with all sorts of paranormals. She has a run in with an intruder at the office and she turns to Cal to take her mind off things. However, Cal sets in motion a double your pleasure kind of plan. Can Cal and his twin Granite take her mind off work and convince Illiona that two sets of hands, two ridged tongues, and two hard bodies are exactly what she needs? This one is double your pleasure hot.

I am definitely glad this is how I started this little novella series. They would have been too short separate for me. I highly recommend this volume that includes 1-5. They are quick fun reads packed with hot seductive men. If you are having a bad week, make your next better and snag this for yourself. One of these five novellas a night are sure to leave you with some amazing dreams. I give this little set of gems 4.5 out of 5 stars. I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal).
I enjoyed reading this bundle but like most novellas it's short, too short for me! For me personally, if it's a novella it has got to have more story than sex since everything is shorter (compared to a full length novel). The stories in this bundle are about 30% story and 70% sex. I have absolutely no problem with it but because the PPA world is so interesting I wanted more of the action, adventure and story building rather than the wild, hot sex.
What I liked:
The world building is goodish, we got a quick run down on what the world is like and how the paranormal interacts with the humans. The PPA is a really good concept and the author could totally write more to the series using the PPA but it should be in novels rather than novellas because I think the reader should get a better background story on PPL abd the characters involves in it (the whys and how's need to be answered). I would totally buy that a PPL novel.
The characters looked like they needed a full length novel rather than the short steamy novella (as I've repeated many times, sorry!). They were written well but needed more depth but since it's a novella it wasn't possible.
I absolutely love how Mina Carter brings in the other paranormals into the book not just the typical were and vamp. Other paranormals exist and they play parts! Yay!
What I didn't like:
The length (duh since I've said it 100x). The only reason I keep bringing this up is because the sex took up so much of the story. It would have been OK and worked well if it was a novel but since it wasn't I felt that the plot was left hanging, I didn't get to know the characters better, the conflicts are really rushed and it felt like it was used just as a means of getting the MCs into bed. I needed more resolution with the plot and more story to the characters. And I felt like for a couple of the characters they are suddenly having sex and I'm like "Huh?! I didn't know s/he was in to him/her." And late on there's no "I love you's" because they need to have more sex and beat the bad guy but more sex first.
I'm going to buy the series but I would LOVE it if the author writes them into a full length novel i see so much potential.
Recommendation?
It's a maybe. If you like the short erotic stories and you just want the quick fix of hot sex than buy it because you'll like it.
If you want more story-building than you might enjoy it but feel a bit unsatisfied with the plot but it shows so much potential!
Edit: I added a few more details of my review and I also to comment I read PPA 2 and it was better than the first one in regards to having a more solid plot, more character development and better resolutions and tying up of conflicts (there's some reason to it now and it's not just sex) but still no explanation of how and why PPA exists. I'm calling g out for a few Prequel books!

Edit: I added a few more details of my review and I also to comment I read PPA 2 and it was better than the first one in regards to having a more solid plot, more character development and better resolutions and tying up of conflicts (there's some reason to it now and it's not just sex) but still no explanation of how and why PPA exists. I'm calling g out for a few Prequel books!

This is a really short read. Cal rescues Iliona from an awkward situation with her ex..the next thing you know, that adrenaline rush has them horizontal on the sofa. There's no real storyline, just a fun and sizzling hot read!

I think the best part was Ashlee and her baseball bat taking names and numbers, although her being able to settle Zane's wolf was pretty funny too! A sexy alpha wolf and the sassy bar owner, hot office sex, gangster pixies, a ninja chef, along with a couple of dragon shifters..what's not to like in this story?!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for wicked reads.
This is a hard review for me, I enjoyed the book but I also had issues with it so I am going to list it in things I liked and things I had wee problems with.
1) hot sex , jeepers, there was a lot of it and I loved every dirty minute of it. I have never read a book with gargoyles let alone gargoyle sex! It was great stuff.
2) I rally liked that the characters remained throughout the whole boxse, instead of just adding new characters and forgetting the ones from the last story.
3) I loved that the author didn't just stick to wares and vamps but had the imagination to add the likes of Santa and gargoyles to her stories.
Okay so as I mentioned at the beginning I had a few issues which is why I only gave 3stars for this review :(
Bar the last story in the box set I felt that there was. It much of a story to go with all the sex. My main pet peeve is that the set is called paranormal protection agency and yeah it was referred to a few times but there was no explanation to what it was. Do they protect paranormals? Do they protect from paranormals? Are they just horny paranormals hanging around a office? This was really my only problem because the writing was good, I just like a bit more story with my sex. I understand that they are novellas but I felt more weight behind the actual plot would have made it a better read, however this is just my own opinion.

This is a collection of five short stories--totally approximately 163 pages--all related to employees of the fictional Paranormal Protection Agency. The first two stories, "Hard as a Rock" & "Between a Rock and a Hard Place", are about are full of lots of blue and sometimes sophomoric humor as the language is pretty dirty and there is a lot of talk about big breasts. There is also little in the way of romance and the stories very quickly delve into the erotic. The next two stories, "Protect and Serve" and "Seduced by Santa", have a bit more depth and more likable characters. "Seduced by Santa" was my favorite, the plot and characters felt more dynamic and getting the sex scenes didn't appear to be the main focus. Finally, the last story, "Close Protection", started out interesting, but quickly began to feel rushed towards its end.
Mina Carter tells the stories in such as way that each can essentially stand alone. Perhaps this, in part, leads me to feel that there was enough detail in each of these short stories that they could have easily been turned into five full length novels. Overall, Volume 1 of Paranormal Protection Agency was a good read if you want quick and dirty, which is what I felt it was intended for and why I gave it four stars. However, you may feel disappointed if you're more interested in a well-developed plot and a build up to a relationship.

Here's what my problem with the Paranormal Protection Agency short stories is: they are short stories, and as such there is no chance for the author to elaborate.
The stories themselves are not bad. I love paranormal and I am always up for it, but a book has to have a plot for me to enjoy it. These stories were basically just sex scenes in context. Now, I love me some smut, but even smut has to have a plotline otherwise I'd just hit up those nifty websites that overfloat the internet.
The Paranormal Protection Agency would have been amazing as full-blown novels, with an actual quest and way more action.
I love the idea of Gargoyles, a clan of Santas, werewolves (looooove werewolves), and whatnots! The idea behind it is pretty cool and my paranormal loving heart skipped a beat when I stumbled upon this series by Mina Carter... thing is I was disappointed by how rushed and actionless they were.
Should the author decide to revisit the whole thing and pimp the stories up into novels, I'd come back and read them.
As it is, I don't feel like giving more than 1-star.
And I'm sorry.

Well I was more than ready to rate this set of 5 books somewhere in the 3's. After reading each story, I've changed my mind and give it a solid 4 stars. The style of writing was simple, very easy to read and not a lot of thinking required. (Do not take that as a negative, its not meant that way). Just a simple fun, silly easy read. No tragic, no dark underlying reason..one is acting like a basket case.
Five stories that one can breeze through.
I liked the mix of paranormal characters... my fav being the christmas elf.. But you have a set of twin Gargoyles, a couple of wolves..and a elf. All males, all alphas to some extent.
The leading ladies … well you wont find simpering wilting flowers..but women with purpose and reason. The characters all fit together, I loved how there were mentioned in the other books as well. There are some really hot yummie scenes...get out a fan, a towel or both.. smiles.
I've never read any of Ms. Carter's work but I do looking forward to reading more from her, and would recommend this to anyone who loves paranormal reads.. have fun enjoy the book!

Looking for some spicy bites all in one place this would satisfy the hunger. This is the first time in reading this author so it was a double tasty treat to have several to sample. This agency is certainly one to have on board if you have any problems with the paranormal. They also have a boss that is a hoot but also one that knows her mind with agents that would melt any one's icy demur. I found it very enjoyable indeed to in each novel involved in this collection picking my interest more and more with this author. She can certainly write paranormal that wets the whistle if that is your genre of choice but with plenty of heat to curl your toes. I especially found the Santa story quite intriguing because that was a delightful way and never read any that had Santa depicted quite that way. I do so enjoy when non human are not a hidden race but out in the open sometimes for a change up. The stories do not take long to venture through but when you reach the end of them all you will find yourself craving more of this agency. Received a arc for a honest review LOP(Lovers Of Paranormal)

I'm Not going to reveal any spoilers. This book features books 1-5 of the Paranormal protection agency series by Mina Carter.
My overall impression: It was an extremely well written and well thought out series. The stories are quick reads but in my opinion that is a good thing. Especially for women who have lots they have to do such as working and looking after the kids. I would have plowed through this in one day if not for my children, but it's fine because I can get to the end of a part and put it down and come back to it.
The characters were amazing to meet. The men were strong and domineering. The women were sometimes equally as strong but just needed a bit of brute strength in assistance.
The love scenes were hot hot hot. The men sexy, the women wanton. I loved it.
I'd definitely advise you buy this and read it. You won't be disappointed.

Holy Hotness, Mina Carter can write! Each book in this box set had fantastic sex scenes AND a great plot.
I had previously read one of the stories, but I still devoured it, how could I not?! With smoking hot heroes and spunky heroines, I loved every bit of this set!
I don't know if Ms. Carter has a Vol. 2 coming in the future, but I certainly hope so!
I'd love a follow-up on the main characters, as well as hope for stories about secondary characters, I found very intriguing.

This collection of novellas is perfect for anyone looking for a paranormal erotic romance. I liked the characters in each story. All the women were tough and full of sass. The men were of course very attractive paranormal creatures (werewolves, gargoyles and elves, oh my!). Personally I was hoping for more about a paranormal protection agency, but the space is used in these novellas to focus on the romantic relationships. Each story is very similar in terms of the characters, their personalities, physical attributes, insecurities, how they meet, and the course of their relationship. So if you like one, you will love the rest as well.

Short and definitely HOT! The book includes 5 short stories that are interconnected, which makes it more interesting. Despite the limited introductions, the author was able to build the characters enough for you to understand their current situations. Short stories has its downside as well, and for this one, each story has more steamy scenes (60-70%) than the real story itself. It would have been much better if each story has more details like how do the PPA starts, how did the people accept the paranormal, when did they come out of the open, etc. Highly recommended to those who wants something sexy and steamy before bedtime.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I loved fifty shades but hadn't really ventured much further into the erotic fiction, let alone paranormal fiction. Whilst I wouldn't want to read this genre every day, every once in a while is a refreshing change. I would recommend this for those moments when you want a change of scenery from your usual book genre.
Carter encapsulates scenes perfectly in these short stories. Each story feels complete, which can be a hard task to accomplish in 20 or so pages. Her use of description is sublime, easy to imagine and thoroughly enjoyable.
Overall I would encourage people to give it a go!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the goodreads group Lop and the author .I really enjoyed this book .I love paranormal erotic romance and this book does not disappoint with a nice variety of paranormal beings ,action , humor and of course hot sex.The only thing I could wish for from this read is more lol. I read this book in less than a day and I cant wait to get my hands on volume 2 .Each story in this volume was well written and page turning .I highly recommend this to other readers who enjoy this genre you wont be sorry .Mina Carters paranormal protectors will knock your socks off.

Wow! This is an amazing box set. Let's just say, after all of the leg squeezing I had to do (Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about), I needed some alone time with my hubby. This is on super sexy, straight to the point box set that will leave you begging for more! Each short story could very well become their own full length books, I loved each character. These stories are well written, witty and so sexy, that you wish creatures like these really existed! You have got to read this box set!

I wish the stories had a bit more meat to them but these books are perfect if you need a quick steam fix and enjoy all things paranormal!

What a hot and steamy read! When I read this bundle of stories I was pleasantly surprised that with all the hot and steamy sex there was actually an interesting story behind each Novella. Each character seemed to be strong, which was refreshing. I hate it when main characters are wimpy! Good job – looking forward to Volume 2.
