It isn't Sage Parker's fault that she mistakes former Navy SEAL Joel Watts as the stalker who had been sending her disturbing letters--he shows up every time she turns around. Too bad her father doesn’t tell her he sent Joel to protect her. When the stalker tracks Sage from LA to her new job in Colorado, she's glad to have Joel on her side. She didn’t plan to falling in love with him though—now if he would see her as more than just a client.
Joel takes his job as head of resort security seriously, but Sage is his number one priority, and the one woman he can’t get out of his mind. He isn't sure if he believes in her precognition, or some of her other hokey beliefs, but he soon finds he can't live without her. He just has to catch the stalker before he or Sage end up dead.
SEALed With Love may be just a little bit better than A Perfect Fit in my opinion.
Book 2 in the DiCarlo Brides series follows Sage Parker and Joel Watts. I loved their story!
Sage has a sixth sense... a precognition that no one believes in. But little things that she either sees or feels always ends up happening. Sage also has a creepy stalker. Her father, the late George DiCarlo, hired Joel to be her personal body guard. Joel is a retired Navy SEAL and his top priority is keeping Sage safe. Joel is also the one that George chose for Sage to marry.
Sage is pretty convinced that Joel only sees her as a "job". She doesn't think that someone like him would ever want to be with someone like her. She thinks that she is plain and weak. Joel sees her as a beautiful, strong, feisty woman who is willing to do anything and everything to make sure the people she cares about are happy and safe.
I do have to say... Joel is a stubborn man! Somewhere along the way he falls in love with Sage but thinks that he is not good enough for her. He was dealt a tough hand growing up and never experienced love. He thinks that as soon as Sage finds out about his past that she'll run far away from him. What he doesn't realize is that Sage loves him for the man that he is... not his past. She sees the real man inside... the strong, amazing, caring man who would do anything and everything to keep her happy and safe.
I loved these two together! They strengthened and brought out the best in each other! I wish their story was just a little bit longer! But I am looking forward to seeing more of them in the rest of the series!
I had the mystery of who the bad guy was figured out pretty early on. But just like in the 1st book of this series, it didn't bother me. I was too busy enjoying the love story between Sage and Joel!
I can't wait to read the rest of the sisters' stories! I am still looking forward to Rosemary's story the most. Her and Harrison are going to be very entertaining... I just know it! ;)
FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE AUTHOR DIRECTLY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
I went into this having just read the preceding book in the series, so the recap of the will reading in chapter 2 and those events felt largely redundant to me. I get that we're now working with Sage's POV on it, but if that scene gets re-hashed every book, just from a different POV, it will be very annoying! However, the rest of the story was actually very interesting!
Sage never made much fuss about her abilities, and I appreciated that in this book! I loved her vulnerability, and her quiet strength in the face of adversity. I loved that we were constantly kept guessing about her stalker as well.
Joel was such a great hero for Sage! I loved how he balanced her out, while she softened his rough edges. I loved watching him realize that he was falling for Sage and I especially loved his bumbling proposal! That alone made him very realistic to me!
I loved that we got to see glimpses of the next romance, as well as continuing updates on the previous book's couple! I can't wait to read the next book!
4.5 star Review SEAled With Love (DiCarlo Brides #2) by Heather Tullis
AUDIO REVIEW:
Heather Tullis is a relatively new author to me and why that is the case, I have no idea. I found this book to be well written and entertaining and it kept me invested from the first to the last chapter.
I have listened to narrator Valerie Gilbert before and as with previous books she has narrated, I found this one to be a pleasure to listen too. She uses different voices to distinguish between the characters which makes listening easy and enjoyable.
This instalment is Sage Parker and Joel Watts’s story and was one I found captivating. Joel was tasked by her late father to watch over and protect her from a stalker who is fixated on her.
I fell hard and fast for Joe, he isn’t the tough ex navy seal that he makes out to be. Under the surface is a man who has not known love in his life, except for his seal brothers in arms. Until he meets Sage, he has no idea of just how lonely and alone he has become. My heart broke for him even whilst it swooned; he is that kind of man.
There is heat, spice, love, drama, danger and suspense as Joel tries to protect Sage and find out the identity of her stalker.
I read the first of these DiCarlo Brides books quite a while ago. I remember liking it, but really not much more. After having read this one, I'm going to have to re-read it, because I really enjoyed this one!
I like the whole idea of the sisters, most of which didn't know each other before their dad died, having to work together to not only run a resort, but to learn to live with each other and their circumstances. I really love that each of the sisters gets her own book and story and it's really kind of fun the way their dad has kind of hand picked who each girl will marry almost from beyond the grave.
I really loved the characters in this one. I like Sage. I felt a bit scared for her from the very beginning, because of the stalker situation. Obviously, Joel can't and won't be with her ever second of every day and it would only be a matter of time before the stalker is there. I liked that she was willing to keep trying, despite the panic attacks and anxiety she had and felt over this situation.
I liked Joel too. It's really fun that you get to see things through his eyes, that way when he messes up the things he said to Sage, you know what he really meant and it makes the situations a bit comical. I liked the way Joel goes out of his way all of the time to protect Sage and to try to find out who the stalker was.
I had no idea who the stalker was by the end of the book. I never would have guessed! The author did a great job of hiding the identity.
Bottom line, this is a great book in a great series and I can't wait to read more!
**** Book 1 4 stars I purchased a copy of the novel A Perfect Fit (DiCarlo Brides Book 1): Love in Juniper Ridge Jan 15, 2014 by Heather Tullis and this review was given freely. A good introduction to the series. Complex and full of drama. 6 women find out after their father's funeral that they really are sisters and must work and live together for a year to make a the new Colorado hotel prosperous or marry in order to inherit. What they didn't expect upon arrival to the hotel site in Juniper Ridge,Colorado were romances that were secretly set up for them by their father George DiCarlo prior to his death and the multiple media sabotage attempts. Couples inferred include Cami with Landscaper Vince ,her sister Lana with the hotel's regional manager Blake, and her stepsisters Sage with former SEAL and head of hotel security Joel, Delphi with photographer Jeremy, and Jonquil with Ski Resort owner/manager Gage. **** Book 7 4 stars I purchased a copy of the novel Getting Her Groom (DiCarlo Brides Book 7) Dec 11, 2014 by Heather Tullis and this review was given freely. An older man-younger woman romance with a sinister undertone, one large loving family, a pair of superficial parents, and a happy ending. Tying up some loose ends, Jonquil's little sister Angela's road to graduation is sabotage but, graduation does not end her problems when she has to make a decision between a long distance relationship with Cami and Lana's cousin the lawyer Alex, living near her family, and taking an understudy position to her dream job on Broadway in NY. Can be read as a stand alone but best if read in sequence. Violence is not as graphic as in prior novels.
I am loving the DiCarlo sisters. These books remind me so much of a series that I read some time ago by Nora Roberts, but this time instead of friends, we have sisters that did not grow up knowing about each other.
In this book, we see the story by the POV of sister Sage. Sage i think is one of my favourite sisters, and I hate that she is put through the ordeal of a stalker. But having Navy SEAL Joel by her side as her body guard is the making of a great story. I think it took me a day to get through this book, I just didn't want to put it down. I had to find out who the stalker was, and not sure I saw it coming, maybe a fleeting thought at one point, but not enough to make me see it throughout the book.
So far these books have been like potato chips; I can't read just one!
This book was a fun, fast, "guilty pleasure" read. I love a good, clean romance, and this book was just that. Yes, it was predictable, and yes, it wouldn't be considered Literature, but I don't care. For me, books like this are the equivalent of sitting down and watching a Disney movie that you've seen a dozen times and love anyway.
For the first third of the way through, I had no idea what was going on. You definitely need to read the others in the series before tackling this. Had I known that, I'd never have bought it. Oh well . . . you live and learn.
I enjoyed book 2 in the DiCarlo Brides series even more than book one. We already know the sisters, so Tullis was able to put more into Sage and Joel's story, as well as the suspense elements. I also liked the way we got glimpses of what might be coming in book 3 with Lana and Blake's story, as well as seeing Cami and Vince continuing their journey.
Sage is a very lovable character. She's strong while being feminine and kind to everyone around her. I have to imagine it could be paralyzing knowing that your stalker has followed you thousands of miles, but she manages to keep going to work, to keep living her life the best she can. I love that as scared as she gets, her main concern is protecting her family.
Joel is all guy. He's so into the protect but don't fall in love mode of thought that he doesn't even realize how important Sage is to him. I actually like that he's an honorable man that has to be dragged (almost) into the relationship. However, once he catches on, he's going to do everything he can to make Sage happy as well as keep her safe. I loved the conversation between him and Harrison where Joel still thinks Sage will move on without him after the stalker is caught. To me, this was one of those moments where you could see true love. He wanted to be with Sage always, but he was willing to let her walk away if that would make her happy. Silly man! How can a woman resist a hero?
This is a clean (I guess technically PG on my scale) read with closed door scenes, and I give it a solid 4.
1-5 scale and what it means: 1: I couldn’t even finish it / just plain bad 2: I hope I didn’t pay for this / disappointing 3: I didn’t hate it, but it was still missing something / forgettable but inoffensive 3.5: On the line between good and ok / like, not love 4: Solid mind candy / worth reading 4.5: So very close to perfection! / must read 5: I could not put it down and I’m still thinking about it! / a true treasure
Movie Ratings in relation to my review: Clean--Hallmark movies, some kissing, no nudity, no sex on or off "screen" PG--Some innuendo but nothing kids don't hear every day, sex is all closed door PG-13--some language (swear words not related to sex), more talk about sex, heavy petting, removal of clothing on screen, but sex is closed door. R--swearing (can be related to sex), feels like the whole story is about the sex and not the relationship or some other plot
Sealed With Love is the second in the series of the DiCarlo Brides. I first read all of the series several years ago except the last one, and decided to reread the series before buying the last one. These are light, quick romances that is pure escapism. You meet the six DiCarlo sisters, only two are by his wife - Cami and Lana in the first book in the series.
This is the love story of Sage Parker and Joel Watts, an ex-Navy Seal. Sage is the second eldest of the Dicarlo sisters, who's mother is Darla Parker. Sage had a stalker and her father hired him to protect her. After moving to the resort, Joel discovers that her father hired him to protect Sage but also chose her as his bride. Sage is the head of the Spa and Joel head of security, in addition to being Sage's bodyguard
I didn't realize that I never finished nor reviewed this book, so I must have read them out of order. Just as the first book, the DiCarlo sisters are living together and running the resort. They getting to know each other and also learn the things their father did for them all their lives. Sage has the ability to see the future of others, but not hers. She's also considered an earth child because of her lifestyle; partly because of being raised by her mother, who was hippie. Sage endured ridicule from her sisters and others about it until they begin to see the truths in some of her statement. They also finally find out about Sage's stalker.
This book deals with Joel trying to find Sage's stalker. As they are always together, they easily fall in love. Joel was never told outright that he had been chosen to be Sage's husband but realizes that her father had approved him for Sage. As her stalker closes in, they both accept how they feel about each other.
We also see the dynamics going on in the sister's lives which keeps things interesting. There's steam but nothing descriptive or graphic. Still it's escapism but the the intrigue with the stalker keeps its interesting. I'm looking forward to the next sister's story.
Audio review This is book 2 in the series. The series continues with another sister story. The sisters find each other after their dad passes. They are half sisters. Valerie did fantastic work on this audio. Her voice is smooth strong and clear . She brought all the characters to life . Hero is Joel. Sages father , George has other hopes for Joel and Sage but he didn’t live to see if what he wishes came true . Joel is dedicated to his assignment, and he knows the know how, he’s a former Navy Seal. Sage is special, she has gifts , a sixth sense , a clairesensentice , as the proper use is . A deceased father who throws 6 girls together (2 from his marriage and 4 illegitimate daughters to four different women) to build his hotel. Each daughter has something to bring to the table but they must all live on the premises with each other. While trying to come to grips with this curve ball he also has another curve ball for each daughter.....a husband he has personally picked out! !
Sage Parker has been receiving letters from a stalker and decides that after what her father revealed in his will that she needs to move to Colorado to start fresh with her new found sisters...except she doesn't realize that the one man following her is the bodyguard her father assigned to protect her in LA and that man is Joel Watts. After arriving at the hotel things start to escalate again with the stalker and Joel is determined to keep Sage safe no matter what it takes....
Will Sage and Joel find their HEA or will the stalker keep them apart???
This series is a group of stand alone stories with a common thread runner by through them. After the death of their father, a group of girls found out he’d cheated on his wife & that the 6 of them were sisters. In order to earn their inheritance, they had to make a success of the newest resort.
Sage has been bothered by a stalker for some time. Her father hired an ex-Seal to protect her & try to discover who it was. Her father has also been working as a matchmaker, trying to set each of the girls up with someone. Will Sage & Joel admitted to their feelings?
I enjoy the common thread of these books that basically have the six girls learning to love each other & becoming a true family. The guys they are set up with become close & actually end up feeling & acting like brothers. The interactions between the sister & the guys really make these stories realistic.
This second book in the DiCarlo Brides series is the story of Sage and Joel. Sage, second oldest of the six DiCarlo daughters (from five different women) has been stalked for months. Before his death, her father, George DiCarlo hired ex-Navy Seal, Joel Watts to be her body guard. Coming from totally opposite backgrounds, both fight their attraction as they struggle to find out who is threatening Sage and Joel. The plot moves quickly and steadily. It is well written with a great cast of characters with varied personalities. There are some overlapping events from the previous book but it is fun to see how Sage perceived the event instead of seeing it from Cami’s point of view. Language: clean Heat level: moderate (pre-marital relations but nothing graphic)
This was the second book in the DiCarlo bride series. Sage is down to earth, vegetarian and is a reflexologist. So one of the stipulations from her dads will is to run a spa at the hotel he left for her and her sisters. Sounds like it should be easy but not when you have a creepy stalker bothering you at every turn. Her dad hires joel an ex Seal/navy guy to be her bodyguard and he also works security at the hotel. Being close 24/7 especially when the crappy stalker follows her from LA to Colorado, sends her packages, flowers and even leaves her “ vulgar presents” on her doorstep. Sage and Joel grow closer and they both realize they have been hiding their feeling for each other. Good story a little predictable but overall I enjoyed it minus the creepy doorstop package!!
This is book two of the DiCarlo Brides series. This story is about the sister Sage, who is dealing with a stalker when her father passes away. She then tries to start a new life with her newly revealed sisters in her father's hotel chain while contemplating her feelings for her bodyguard. I actually enjoyed this book more than book 1. I loved learning more about Sage and following her love story. This book is also full of suspense as you are always left wondering what her stalker is up to and who he may be. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a suspenseful romance. This book will definitely not disappoint.
Bodyguard sort of dual point of view/kinda omniscient Can be read standalone but you will miss a lot!! Sage has a stalker who follows her across the country when she starts managing the spa at her father’s resort. Joel, the bodyguard her father hired to protect her, works as the head of security for the resort while trying to identify the culprit. Can the pacifist and the warrior be more than enemies once the danger is gone? Sweet, like the family, like his friends Kept me wondering about the identity Found discrepancies in descriptions of his place - sometimes house, sometimes apartment.
I absolutely loved this book and I have to say that I really didn't think I would enjoy it as much as the first one because Sage just seemed different. She wasn't really that different or she grew on me one but I really enjoyed Sage. I loved her ability and how she didn't push it any but yet would try to tell people things in a unique way. I love her and Joel together especially when they finally admitted their attraction to each other - or should I say when Joel finally gave in. I can't wait for them to get married and I hope we get to see it in the next book. I can't wait for the next one in the series.
Sage was living in LA when she started getting upsetting notes and gifts. She went to the police but there wasn't much they could do. Joel was hired by her dad to protect her and also head of security for the hotel. Sage has already to take the job in CO and meets Joel by accident when she sees him. They both move to DO as friends and he is still her bodyguard after she finds out about her sisters. But the stalker follows. But they finally admit more after his old SEAL friend passed away.
I really enjoyed this book. I love when tough guys get all wrapped up in gooey feelings like love. I admire Sage and her ability to embrace her uniqueness. Her upbringing by a vegan, Mother Earth type mom has led Sage to some lifestyle choices that are quite different from the average American woman, yet she is comfortable with being different. I love that we get some insight to what makes Joel tick in this book, he has definitely earned a place of respect with me.
Sage is the 2nd of 6 daughters of George DiCarlo. He had two daughters w his wife and four with other women. Some were close to their father. When he died, he gave them all instructions to open a resort. Using their gift to work at the resort. They had to live together in one house he bought for them all. Sage started receiving letters from a stalker. Her father hired an ex Navy seal to protect Sage. Joel was w her all the time. As time went on, their feelings grew for each other.
SEALed With Love is the second book in the DiCarlo Brides series. Each book in this series highlights a different sister and this one focuses on Sage. Sage has been getting letters from a stalker. When Joel follows her, she starts to think he might be the stalker, not the bodyguard hired to watch out over her. I enjoyed their story.
I really enjoyed this story. Loaded with suspense and good, fade-to-black romance (tastefully done), I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. I thought the plot was original enough that it didn’t feel overdone. The romance was clean but hot. I really enjoyed it and I will definitely be seeking more of this author’s work.
Head of Security, Joel Watts, was doing everything to protect Sage Parker from her stalker. As her personal bodyguard, he monitors her every move. It may not be enough. The sparks between them are getting harder to ignore. A sweet romance. Recommend.
Sage hand Joel met up when Sage's father hired him to protect her and find the person that is stalking her. From the moment they met they both had that love feeling, but sage felt like she was not good enough and Joel never had anyone that loved him and didnt think it was possible.
Sage and Joel have great appreciation for each other and their differing attributes. They make a great couple and help each other through difficult moments. I enjoy getting more insight into all the DiCarlo sisters life, yet be focused on one sister's story. There was suspense, but not enough to keep you up all night, and intriguing enough to not want to put the book down.
Her dad setup an ex seal to be her bodyguard after she gets a stalker. But her dad was also ensuring her a husband. Things get tough but her saves her from the stalker and marries her.
I really enjoy romantic suspense novels and this one was over the top! Stalkers, death threats and love filled this exciting, not to be missed story by Heather Tullis.
