It’s deer season and the mountains around Big Lake are filled with trophy hunters. But deer aren’t the only things being stalked. When Emma Moyer, Big Lake’s resident environmental activist, disrupts a guided hunt, it leads to a deadly confrontation. Now Sheriff Jim Weber has to find a killer from a list of suspects that include angry hunters, land developers, business owners, estranged family members, and others that Emma has crossed over the years. And all the while, a perilous winter storm is sweeping across the mountains, hampering his investigation and hiding secrets. Many of the characters that made the first three books in the Big Lake series such a hit are back, along with some new ones readers will remember for a long time. One reviewer has referred to the Big Lake mystery series as “Mayberry Meets Twin Peaks." It’s a combination of humor and intrigue that launched author Nick Russell’s first Big Lake book into Amazon’s Top 100 Paid Kindle books for over 78 days, and Big Lake Blizzard, the fourth book in this popular series, is sure to be a hit too!
This was another good book by Nick Russell. He is such a good writer, and he makes you feel like you are inside the story so much. I find myself reading, and getting made at the character, and wondering why they are being a jerk or whatever they do that makes me angry. To me; that is a sign of a really good writer. I get mad, I cry, and even feel sorry for some characters. I am currently reading book 5 of his 18 book series. I am so looking forward to reading every single one of them. Can't believe I finished this book so quickly.
It was a great day, when I discovered Nick Russell books! It's only been about a week and I've read several of his books. I have to spread them out, so I've got them to look forward to! Lol. If it wasn't for Kindle Unlimited, I would be missing out, on these awesome books. No, I'm not being paid to gush on and on about his books. They are just that good. I love Weber and all the characters. The story plot. There is so much humor and bantering. My husband knows I'm reading a murder mystery, but can't figure out why I burst out laughing! I LOVE Nick Russell books!! You can never guess who the is the killer. I hate when I come to the end. It's like saying goodbye to good friends. But there's always another book waiting. Again, Thank you Nick, for having your books in Kindle Unlimited.
When tragedy again rocks the town of Big Lake, it's up to the Sheriff's department to solve the case. However, it's going to be a difficult process since the victim has more enemies than not. It's going to be an intriguing, yet exhausting, case for these officers, but one way or another, they'll figure it out. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
If you have been following along, you know that Emma is Big Lake's leading activist. An organizer of protests that aggravates even the calmest people. When she interrupts a trophy deer hunt and ends up dead, there is a laundry list of suspects. It is all hands on deck for this intense investigation, but never fear, the Mayor is still around for comic relief.
This time I really thought that Mr. Russell has handed us a long drawn out dull story. And then things start to get a little more lively and he gives us another story with so many twists and turns that I could not decide who was the best suspect in the multiple murders. An exciting read with just enough love and passion to keep it interesting!
Small town murder and everything that comes with it Cast of characters are good natured those who you like and those you do not. A Well written story line about such things and I found it very enjoyable and will continue the series going forward Jimmy is a good guy and easy to cheer for
Who killed the treehugger? Was it the enraged hunter from out of town? Was it one of the developers she tried to shut down? Was it a scorned luver? Who ever it was Jimmy Wil figure it out. Is Jimmy going to ever settle down with Robyn? This excellent book will give you all the answers. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed this book a lot! I wondered what was going to happen to the property. Maybe the next one will tell me. Maybe it won't. Either way I'm going to keep reading.
This story was a little drawn out. Needed more suspense ! To much nonsense between the characters, sexual comments and foolishness. Some is ok... Surprised on who the killer really was ? The artwork, cover of the book is awesome !!!
I love the Big Lake series! Nick Russell can really spin a story! Sheriff Weber,Parks, Robyn all make this entertaining. I laugh out loud while reading this series! Keep them coming!!
Another five star read in a five star series. Off the wall characters to torture protagonist Sheriff Jim Weber along with a taut plot. I read this one in one afternoon/ evening. Very hard to put it down. A must read. Do not miss this series for any reason. check it out.
Small town living is no different than in the big city -- it's just that more people know your business. I really enjoy the myriad of characters in each story. Sheriff Weber continues to have his hands full, although now he has a few more helpers.
I have never heard of this author before, I just got one of his books to try. I love this guy!! The characters are so real. Lots of humor and twists and turns. I'm going to be sad when I finish the series.
This is the fourth book of the series that I've read. While I'm enjoying the stories and the interaction between the sheriff, his deputies and the townspeople, I'm getting really tired of Robyn.
This is just a story, however this is reality in some places.
And not just in Big Lake. Where greed and some people just want to change things, instead of embracing what is beautiful and Serene and nice for everyone to enjoy
I absolutely love the characters in this series, I can’t stand the pompous mayor and his Cling-on council woman. The sheriff is a savvy man with a beautiful girlfriend…. Can’t wait to read the next installment!
I enjoy reading this series but it can get depressing knowing that such a wonderful small town is growing so fast. Maybe next book will bring better news.
Great tale of the effects of progress on the planet on which we live. The desires of the tree huggers and the progressive few with their schemes. Tough case to solve but again one solved more by chance than skill. Still well worth the read.
This is another fast read although the author is adding more romance into his stories. I much prefer action, and although there was some here, I had to skip a lot of pages.
Mr. Russell has a way of writing that is exciting and has no reason for cursing and using the Lord's name in vain. Great job Mr. Wilson and very good story.
Highly recommend!!! Literally laughed out loud a few times. Love the characters and the storyline. It has it all mystery, suspense, fun, romance etc. LOVED IT!!!
