"The Works of John Buchan" gave me many enjoyable hours of reading. This exceptional writer entertained and instructed me in his novels set in various places of the world and at varying times.
I liked "Prester John," set in South Africa, which explored and prevented the power grab of a native leader. "The Thirty-nine Steps" was a tantalizing tale of how to stop Nazi spies infiltrating England during the times of World War I. "Greenmantle" has also a spy motif and I guess I like that strong people can stop the rise of evil. John Buchan's style is fluid, learned, and he captures characters and settings that kept me reading.
