While staying at a trailer park in West Virginia, Logan, an easy rolling, ex-NYPD homicide detective, is approached for help by a woman on the run. Her husband has been murdered, and she and her daughter are being hunted by two hitmen. Logan gets involved and the body count rises as he investigates why the women are such a threat to someone that they have to be eliminated.
I write the type of original, action-packed, violent crime thrillers that I know I would enjoy reading if they were written by such authors as: Lee Child, David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly and their ilk. Over twenty years in the Prison Service proved great research into the minds of criminals, and especially into the dark world that serial killers - of who I have met quite a few - frequent.
I live in a cottage a mile from the nearest main road in the Yorkshire Wolds, enjoy photography, the wildlife, and of course creating new characters to place in dilemmas that my mind dreams up.
What makes a good read? Believable protagonists that you care about, set in a story that stirs all of your emotions.
If you like crime fiction, then I believe that 'Deadly Reprisal' and 'A Reacher Kind of Guy - Aftermath' will push all the right buttons for you.
Joe Logan is the latest (to me) in a long line of ex-police loaner adventurers. With no ties, he moves around, living a quiet life. However, given this is a novel, obviously something gets in the way of that quiet life, in this case a woman in a trailer park whose husband has been murdered who needs help. Logan investigates and a rapidly rising body count ensues as his 'outside the law but gets results' methods gradually uncover the reason the woman is being chased by hitmen.
The writing is good, the character developed enough to keep you interested, but there is also more to learn. Sure I will read more of the series.
About a 2.5- it's another Reacher want-to-be but doesn't make it. Former military, former cop Joe Logan is a "nomad"- no house, no car etc. He gets drawn into situations like this where he is staying in an off the grid trailer park for a few days and his neighbor comes over and spills her problems to him. She needs help, her husband was killed in front of their home and her daughter's college roomates are killed just as she's asking Logan for help.
Seems weird to trust a total stranger and of course she doesn't tell the whole truth until later in the book. Lots of killers for hire, most of which are inept.
Just a fill in read until some new releases come out.
Nòthing exciting or new in rhe wgole story BUT I kept reading until the end which for me shows it was an OK story with an OK ending. Time passed easily whilst I enjoyed plodding along with Joe Logan and the 2 women he'd befriended.
Joe Logan doesn’t look for trouble but it finds him. When a frightened lady asks him for help he can’t walk away. A true hero helping a damsel in distress. Great book, lots of action, easy to read, you won’t want to put this down.
I love the reacher books and really wanted to like this. The trouble is that it's an almost exact clone of those preacher books with very little originality. In fact the main character is so paper thin that I found this was like a photocopy of a photocopy. Just faded and lifeless. It's a shame as there was promise that simply never materialized.
Great Villains and Handsome Hero! No mysterious in the plot, but still a good read. If you like killings and fist fighting this is the book for you! There's even better beautiful women and a little sex thrown in.
This is a fast and furious read, exciting from start to finish. The fact that it calls Joe Logan a Reacher kind of guy says it all--ex-cop who is now a nomad meets up with damsel in distress and sets out to help her by fair means or foul. Perhaps a tad violent in places but pure entertainment!
The main character Joe Logan bares a lot of similarities with Jack Reacher, and I can't complain about it, I love Jack Reacher. The story is gripping enough that I read it quickly and the action starts within the first few pages. The plot might not be as complex as some novels but each to their own it was pretty enjoyable.
