I really loved this book. This was an action filled, fast paced story. The suspense was also very good. Lots of twist and turns along the way. The romance and friendship between Cale, and Cassidy was sweet! I would recommend Glitter and Gunfire to anyone that enjoys a good action packed romance.
Sample from chapter 2 He shoved the car into drive and slammed the gas pedal down to the floorboard. They raced from the scene with bullets chasing after them. His right hand still held the gun, and his left kept a white knuckled grip around the steering wheel. “Are you okay?” Cale demanded as they rounded the next corner. The shooter could be pursuing them, so he barely slowed. He was pretty sure the sports car lifted onto two wheels.
Sample from chapter 7 “Look, if you don’t want the assignment” He eliminated that two feet of distance in less than a second. “Lets get one thing clear. I don’t think of you as an assignment.” Oh. That was good. It sounded good, anyway. Her heartbeat had sure picked up plenty at the news as it raced in her chest. “How do you think of me?” She and Cale were finally away from the other agents and any prying eyes. The rest of the world was locked out. The stillness of the night surrounded them. Cale’s gaze darkened as he stood before her. “I’m starting to think of you… as mine.” The words were rough, possessive. And they were the last things that she’d expected him to say.
Cale has been assigned to keep Cassidy safe. He has been given no other information about why he is babysitting this party girl. When armed men attempt to take her Cale steps in and keeps her out of their hands. Her actions make him think there's more to her than he had been led to believe. Meanwhile, Cassidy is furious with Cale since she had set herself up as bait so she could stop the man who has been kidnapping and killing her friends. Cale quickly realizes that Cassidy is determined to find and rescue her friend. He is impressed by her capabilities and disobeys orders to help her do so. He is also determined to discover just what it is she is hiding. He is stunned when he finds out what it is.
Cassidy has been protected all her life. She hasn't had many close friendships and those that she had are suddenly disappearing to death. She is determined to find out who is doing it and has set herself up as bait. I really liked her determination. She also had some pretty good skills that had come in handy over the past few years as she would elude her bodyguards. I loved the way that she was surprised by Cale's ability to anticipate her actions. One thing she hadn't expected was her attraction to Cale. I really liked the way that she refused to be separated from him for any reason. Her feelings for him grew rapidly. Even when others were telling her that he wasn't good for her she refused to accept it. I thought that her focus on her investigation made her take some unnecessary risks at times but it all certainly worked out.
Cale is new to the EOD team. He had been the focus of an attempted frame up in an earlier book. Now he puts everything he has into every mission. This one has him puzzled. He has been assigned to protect Cassidy but hasn't been told why or from what. I loved his reaction when she tried to chase him off. After the scene in the ballroom he realizes that she has secrets and he won't be satisfied until he knows what they are. I liked the way that he agreed with her that her friend had to be rescued and how he and the team disobeyed orders to get it done. The events after they returned to DC and he found out who she was just made him more determined to protect her. He was also fighting his growing feelings for her, feeling that with his past he was no good for her. He also quickly discovered that he didn't care about that, nothing was going to keep him from protecting her. It was very tricky trying to do so with the bad guys still after her and also some other manipulations coming from his boss. His part in the final confrontation was very intense and nerve-wracking. Loved the epilogue.
The suspense part of the book is very good as the attempts on Cassidy continued. The perpetrator was pretty well hidden for me until close to the end when I had my "aha!" moment. I found Mercer's actions at the end pretty interesting. I hope that Drew will get a story - he seems to be in need of the hassles the right woman can bring him.
This was just too EASY. I can smell and pin point the bad guy from the start.
And Cale Lane needed a more in-depth background to go with his 'wild-card' demeanor. I remember him being a great dark mystery in book #2 and Cale was a lot hotter then too. No intense or ferocious drama at all here.
What a great book! Action packed and a little romantic, especially towards the end. This can definitely stand alone even though it's number four in the series. I am going to have to go back and get the previous books.
Exciting continuation to a great series. As usual the book was written really well. Full of suspense twists and betrayal. Nothing unexpected from this wonderful series. However, there were more emotional suspense in this book than the former ones.
Rating 3.25 stars What a disappointing read and that maybe because I had built this book up so much in mind because it was Cale and who the heroine was but alas it fell short. The heroine was irritating and well seemed reckless, Cale was Cale. The romance, the sexual tension seemed forced. And I so knew who the bad guy was. I smell Drew getting a book.
A TSTL woman with a death wish seems to think that she can take down a kidnapping slash extortion slash murder ring all by her lonesome. I can't keep reading this nonsense.
I loved ❤️ this book's storyline. I loved ❤️ the action in this story. I loved ❤️ the suspense in this story. I loved ❤️ the hot 🔥 & steamy scenes. I loved ❤️ Cade. I loved ❤️ Cassidy. I loved ❤️ Cassidy's toughness. I loved ❤️ the ending. Awesome job Ms. Eden.
I had so much trouble with this book, I loved Cale but hated Cassidy, making it very difficult to rate properly. Cale was great and surpassed all of my expectations I had for him. He was everything I wanted to see and more in his mission. He was always one step ahead with his quick thinking and clever wit. He knew how to approach and apprehend the enemy before they could make a move. He was patient and cunning. His intelligence was unmatched by the others and he pretty much carried the team. I think he should bump Logan off as team leader but then he might not get as much action since Logan seems to pretty much stay in the background most of the time. Now I'm being mean though, so I'll stop. I have no complaints about Cale other than falling in love with a brainless idiot who thought she could play superwoman with no training whatsoever.
Cassidy has got to be one of THE DUMBEST heroines I've ever read. I'm a little disappointed because I was hoping she'd at least be somewhat likable as Cale's counterpart. What I didn't expect was worse than the other women of the series so far. She's got confidence, she's got pride, but what she doesn't have is a brain and common sense. This girl takes stupidity to a whole new level. It's ironic that she claims to use her "cover" as a spoiled debutante to fool everyone as if in reality she's some sort of highly intelligent, trained, and experienced agent capable of bringing down a dangerous killer targeting girls like her. She's none of that, she's exactly what she's supposedly "pretending" to be, she is nothing but a rich girl going to parties and living off of her inheritance. Her genius plan was to go along with getting abducted by the Executioner's men all on her own, no training or knowledge of escaping captivity whatsoever, and either killing the men responsible even though she's never killed anyone in her life, or stopping him and magically turning him in to authorities when it's her against who knows how many men there are. The only reason she could successfully get away from previous bodyguards was because they were incompetent and got distracted by her looks and seduction tactics or she never would have got the drop on them as proven by her failure to ditch Cale. She was an idiot who would have gotten herself killed had Mercer not assigned Cale to her that night. Her refusal to follow Cale's orders almost got him killed throughout the book because she doesn't know how to shut up, listen, and follow instructions that will get them out. Cale's in the situation because of her, the least she could do was let him call the shots since HE'S the one who knows what he's doing and how to get her and her friend out of there alive. She is one of those girls who get other people killed because she won't listen to reason and wants to do things her way resulting in innocent people paying for her mistakes and stupidity with their lives.
I did like the story as a whole and the final showdown wasn't cheesy to me. His almost death was probably one of the most realistic I've ever seen in a book. It was believable enough to take seriously and no corny overdramatic confessions of love to ruin it. Cale is a straight to the point man so I loved that his only words for her were simply "I love you" before he passed out. Simple and direct but a powerful statement nonetheless. I might read this again at some point for Cale but then again might not because of Cassidy. It's up in the air for the time being. I did like reading it even if this is the only time I will and the author didn't let me down with Cale's character. It was worth reading at least once.
All the right ingredients where here but it just wasnt as strong as the previous books.
Cale Lane was once suspected of being a killer of EOD agents when it was found out he was being framed. This was from the 2nd book in the series. Since then the anticipation of waiting for his story was even more exciting when it was told who his heroine was going to be at the end of the third book. Mercer is the boss of all the EOD agents and when he puts Cale in charge of keeping Cassidy Sherridan safe in Rio you know there has to be a connection between Mercer and Cassidy and boy was there. With the complexities of all three characters I felt there should have been a more in depth look at each of their histories to see how they all got to this point in there lives. We are given enough to get the jest but it was all so rushed - everything felt rushed in this book - the romance, the conflict, the telling of Mercer's tragic past.
I was happy to get to know more about Mercer and how that all tied into the main plot of this book but was left feeling a little unsatisfied by the end of the book. Hopefully this was just a one off and the next book in the series will get back to the exciting action series it is.
Cale Lane’s orders were simple, keep Cassidy Sherridan safe no matter what. When six gunmen stormed the Rio ballroom to take her out he has to wonder just what is going on and who is behind it. The party girl isn’t giving any information so Cale is going to have to find a way to get the information if he is going to have a chance at keeping her alive.
Cassidy Sherridan doesn’t need Cale to mess up her cover by playing hero. She is determined to bring a killer to justice even if that means using herself as bait. How is she going to do that if Cale is determined to shadow her every step? Another thing she doesn’t need right now is the feelings Cale is awakening in her and that can cause her to put both her life and her heart on the line.
This is one book that has so many twists and turns that it will keep readers guessing until everything is revealed. This has some twists that are sure have readers saying they didn’t see that one coming. The series is turning into an action packed series that is sure to please any one. The story lines are woven together and yet are always different and fresh. This one will also have readers hoping there will be more books in this series. This is one series not to miss.
Another great read by Cynthia Eden. Glitter and Gunfire was a fast moving and action packed novel. Lots of twists and turns throughout and of course a shocking who-done-it that Ms. Eden always puts out. Loved the characters of Cale and Cassidy and it was nice getting to know more of Mercer in this.
A great romantic suspense novel and a great addition to Cynthia Eden’s Shadow Agents series. Can’t wait for her next one.
Well anything by Cynthia is good. She usually does the paranormal books but this Romance Suspense series is about an Elite Operations Division going into danergous situations to get someone out. Books about strong hero's that will do anything to get the heroine out, falling for her hard at the same time. Love love love these books :)
I loved this book and couldn’t stop reading it. Cale is supposed to watch over Cassidy. But he falls for her quickly, but what is she to his boss Mercer? There’s some twists to this story, and I was shocked by the betrayal. Loved getting updates from prior characters including multiple points of view. I did cry towards the end. Totally loved the ending. I highly recommend this book.
Another great read! I'm really loving this series. I've been wanting to read Cale's book since the second book in the series, and I was not disappointed. I just loved how he knew what and whom he wanted. No dramas and commitment phobias. A great romance.
Non-stop action, mystery, murder, crosses and double crosses, and mayhem every day. Cynthia Eden has all the ingredients for a murder mystery plus more book. Very well written and a very good action-packed murder and mystery plus more. Never disappoints.
At the end of the last story, Cale (that brother of the girl Jasper married 2 books ago who was a suspect in that one) gets sent to Rio to "babysit" some girl, but he isn't told why or really who she or what she's up to. So Cale is flying blind protecting Cassidy Sheridan, who is a tempting little debutante. He soon learns that there is more to Cassidy than meets the eye. Cassidy, on her own, has been investigating a criminal known as "The Executioner" who kidnaps young society women and ransoms them to their families for money, secrets and connections...and if the families don't pay up, he kills them. Cassidy is his latest target, but Cale pretty soon realizes that he will do anything to keep Cassidy safe and will not leave her side. But Cassidy's family connections could be a constant danger to her, and an obstacle to their happy ever after.
This was a fun story, with good action and pacing and plenty of chemistry between the MCs. As long as you don't analyze it too closely, it's a solid beach read sort of story. For me, the best part of this story wasn't the romance between Cale and Cassidy...that was fairly run of the mill, but exciting enough...plenty of angst and a pretty-close-to-insta-love kinda relationship. Cale never really reveals any of his background other than that he had "violent tendencies and an obsessive personality" and Cassidy doesn't really share much of her past growing up either. WE learn about it, but they don't share it with each other. So it feels like a love-on-the-run kind of thing. Would have liked to have seen more depth there. The best part of this story also wasn't the suspense, because you really do figure out who the villain is, especially if you've read any of this author's books before. Follows the same pattern as previous stories. The best part of this story absolutely is the relationship between Cassidy and her father. That is a relationship fraught with complexity and a lot of hurt feelings which leads to a pretty impossible situation for them. There really is no way for them to resolve everything within the span of a book. Her father does see Cassidy happy and free in the end and he does at least admit what he'd done to her in his protective love, but there is a lot of resolution that doesn't get done here. It feels like you need it, but at the same time you completely see why it can't be.... Like I said, most complex and interesting relationship in the story.

Menarik!
Dalangnya tentu saja orang terdekat Cassidy.
Tipe ranger sejati. Setia pulak. Kayaknya karakter para agen bayangan seperti itu semua deh, hehe.
I almost didn’t read this one because of the reviews about Cassidy, but decided to give it a shot anyway (I already read the first three, might as well continue the saga).
Cassidy was not the issue for me. It was the whole plot and the push and pull between Cale/Cassidy and Cassidy’s father-Mercer, aka head hancho at the EOD. It was one intense scene after another, with a short break in between where Mercer demanded such an such, while Cassidy/Cale decided ‘Nope, we’re going to do this instead’. If there had been an iota of teamwork, the bad guys would have been taken care of after chapter 5.
Both Cale and Cassidy came across as a little immature and with blinders on; thinking they could just Rambo their way through any situation. It got old. But they did seem like the were meant for each other, just two peas in a pod. The romance was very insta-lovey, and the sexy times were questionable, not that hot.
I don’t know, in every book of this series I just find myself thinking of how much better it could be if this change or that change had been made. The writing is good overall, but there’s just these details that keep piling on that make me crazy.
Glitter and Gunfire by Cynthia Eden is on fire. It has all the action, suspense, and danger to keep readers on the edge. It's also a bit of a cat and mouse game between the main protagonists and then between them and the evil guys. A military man working for a top military force is stuck guarding a Madonna type of woman. She sets his blood on fire but he reins it in because she's his mission. Keeping her alive is his top priority. Only thing is the princess is not having it. She keeps escaping him to put herself in the line of the bad guys. Her friends were captured and killed by the bad guys. Now, she wants them to catch her so she can know their location. But her plan is not that great. Because she instantly is in a deadly game, and it takes everything the Texas ranger has to fight for her life. He gets multiple gunshot wounds and is still attracted the fiery woman. She's still a mystery to him until her real identity becomes known. Even then, he does not back down. I loved his face down with his director aka the woman's father. So much tension, attraction, and humor all rolled into a fabulous read!
