Ever since I can remember, I've always had a passion for Creative Writing. There's something special about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen--or in today's world a touch of the keyboard. Maybe it all started with the soap opera-level drama I used to script for my Barbie dolls. Plot twists, emotional arcs, surprise twins—it was basically a writer’s room before I even knew what one was. Whatever the spark, storytelling quickly became my favorite way to explore, create, and shake up reality just a little. I love stories that keep me on my toes. The kind that push me outside my comfort zone and introduce me to characters I either want to be friends with... or dramatically argue with in a fictional diner.

I love traveling to scout out new and exciting settings for my books—but nothing beats a peaceful walk in the woods or a seat by the ocean close to home. Turns out, plot twists and inspiration show up just fine with a sea breeze and squirrels.

A warning. Rant review ahead and spoilers à gogo (aplenty). Continue at your own risk.
note : We are on a second or even third degree here.

I wouldn't even know where to start to actually explain why I didn't like this book. I thought I'd signed for a sweet romantic comedy, maybe a little angst to spice it up... Boy, I was wrong!

Although, I'm afraid you would ever recover from the things I have to tell you regarding this story. I know, you say you're a tough cookie, but look at me, I'm effing Wonder Woman and I lost my damn mind reading this book.

Nicole Morgan aka Miss Morgan is a young 20 something just fresh out of school and out of a solid relationship. No, nobody dumped her. Au contraire, she decided she couldn't stay with Andrew any more. Our Nicole has issues. Commitments issues. She literally gave him the speech " It's not you, it's me, you're too good for me." Huh-huh.

Meanwhile, she just applied to a new job, a teaching position in the town' school. (She had this "little poor me" act all through the book that drove me nuts.) She's persuaded she'll fail the last interview, even though she disqualified 47 opponents so far.
Yes she got the job.

Another reason why I started this book, the plot promised me a sexy Irishman. I mean, alright, I was sold! Dailan O’Maley(douche #1), I had to meet him! (The name sounds too much to you too, huh?)

What? Am I the only one thinking Conan is THE man? Okay I did use sexy just before and maybe I'm just alone on this one. Nevermind.

But reality crashed down and I had to lower my expectations.

Miss Morgan teaches to second grades and has in her class a little Ryan O’Maley. The boy has some troubles learning, therefore Nicole contacts the little man's legal guardian for a meeting. Yes, Ryan's parents passed in a car accident not so long ago, leaving his uncle, Dailan and aunt, Lisa to take care of him alternatively.

Dailan O'Maley just earned his first grade for the douche competition with his answer to Miss Morgan's invitation to a meeting. A real asshole. Though we all know even jerks can redeem themselves, right? (I was sincerely hoping for it.)

Same evening, Nicole decides to go out at a bar with some friends, and finds herself flirting with a gorgeous man...

Over a dance they exchange niceties, Nicole casually telling him about her day as a teacher and how she just had words with a "pompous ass" over a meeting concerning his nephew.

The gorgeous man appears to be the infamous Dailan O'Maley, and only too well aware of the situation he makes the official presentations. Nicole doesn't stay to explain herself, no, she just runs out of here without even looking back.

Er... Wrong movie. I know.

Day of the meeting at school, Dailan is delighted to see Miss Morgan again, and powers on the charm to its fullest, going at her very boldly.

This is where the charm -if it ever was the case- stopped to operate for me. Over his discussion with Miss Morgan about little Ryan behavior towards girls, Dailan made this little comment, and it completely put me off reading the book.
"Okay, and what are these things that you are referring to?"
"Well, I had to talk to Ryan several times in the past few weeks about his behavior. In particular, lifting up the girls' skirts during recess."
He began to laugh loudly. "There's nothing wrong with that, I'd be more worried if you told me he was chasing after the boys."

From this moment on, I had a lot of feelings for Dailan... And a lot of thoughts and pictures came to mind...
Mostly...

Anyway, call me stupid but I continued reading the book, truth is, despite my growing hatred for Dailan’s character, the premise was one I love reading about. Enemy to lovers plot are a favorite of mine and so I kept on hoping this will get better… I must remember to stop being that optimistic!

The story goes on, Nicole and Dailan seem to slowly go from casual relationship to a boyfriend/girlfriend one. In the middle of course, little Ryan, who begins to see his teacher as a potential mother. You would think that both adults would act with enough awareness toward the young boy’s feelings… Well, no. I thought they were pretty reckless and had no consideration for that poor little orphaned boy.

I liked reading about their nights together, they really were a family then, sharing a meal, making homework… It was very sweet with some funny moments. But still it felt odd, for the main reason that when they would have a night together with Ryan, their interaction felt forced. And when morning came, Dailan would go back to work, leaving Nicole in the dark for several days without a text or a phone call. But he would reappears out of the blue with some pitiful excuse (my phone fell in the airport toilet, duh!) and Nicole was alright with it. But throughout the whole book she was glued to her phone... Sad, sad, sad.

Somewhere in the middle of the book, we understand that Dailan planned to go back to Ireland with little Ryan, for good. But as his relationship with Nicole became more and more serious, they never talk about his departure. Nicole was dreading this moment but she wouldn’t engage the conversation about it. Real mature, guys. And how could you never talk about it?

Then, something that felt even strange in this book was Nicole relationship with her family. We get to see her interact with her mother and sister, and it was not pretty. Somehow the author tried to make us believe that her family was ALL bad. When in fact there was an underlying issue, but Beth Rinyu chose the easy and convenient way of never addressing it. So you have no choice but accepting that her family is atrocious and that Nicole is a poor little thing…

Another odd thing was her interchange with her brother. Her brother is deployed overseas for the most part of the book, and she stays in contact with him through texts. I imagine the guy seeking for news from his family but she never answers his questions or writes back more than 10 words. It was really off. To me it seems like it was just an opportunity to fill the book. But in that case it served a purpose. The author was building for drama.

She went so far as reneging her parents, her sister, creating a scene in a public space, the same day they first met Dailan… Himself preferred to take a call (faked?) and leave her facing the "wolves". Talk about awkward.

But she really acted like a petty child, and I felt sorry for her then. Where was the responsible teacher we witnessed at school? She really had 2 faces, and I did not understand how she could act so differently.

From this moment on, fasten your seat belts, drama is all what’s going to be on the menu.
I still am flabbergasted over all the things that happened in the last 50 pages. So much to address.

First, Nicole FINALLY addresses her concerns over Dailan’s possible departure to Ireland, but better than share her worries, she chooses the mature way and back-pedals. Yes, the famous : We need a break.

Off course Dailan sees red, after all, he shared his feelings for her —granted it was both times in the throws of passion— and chooses, too, the mature thing to do, and ends things with her.

Okay, I may have jumped a time or two then.

Meanwhile, in a little coffee, Nicole is being accosted by Rick (douche #2), a colleague of Dailan. He tries to charm her, but she declines, he still insists to pay for her coffee, she reluctantly accepts. Fatal error!

The coffee gate comes to Dailan’s ears, and man, he just lost it over a freaking coffee!!! What do you think they exchanged? Seriously it was like she had sex with the man or something.

Maybe the bigger the cup you share, the bigger the... Nevermind. Wrong analogy.

Ensues a huge fight, over a coffee cup, yes. At this point, I was lost and couldn’t understand for the life of me why they were fighting. I sincerely hope that they were as clueless as I was.

Dailan goes back to Ireland to finalize his moving over there, or at least, that’s what we are leading to believe.

Simultaneously, Nicole’s brother, Justin, dies overseas. Nicole is brokenhearted, so is her family. And the only person she’d love to lean on, doesn’t want her anymore. Waaaaaaah. Booh ooh. Whatever.

Ad interim, (I swear it all happens at the same time) Rick (that’s our douche #2) knocks on Nicole’s door, and assaults her in her own apartment.

Nicole only thinks of one thing to do, she calls her ex-boyfriend, Dailan, currently in Ireland.
But hey, she must have had foresight, because that very phone call saved her, Dailan was here, he came back when he heard about her brother… Sure. I was more like :

Rick is arrested before he could rape her, we learn he was having an affair with little Ryan’s mother, (Dailan’s now deceased sister in law) and even causing their tragic car accident.
Huh-huh.

Dailan and Nicole reconcile. They fuck. Little Ryan is happy to see them back together. Nicole’s family is happy she is alright and realize how they were stupid for ostracizing her.
So you’d think, that all’s well that ends well, right? RIGHT?
NO!

There is more! Out of her big bag of tricks, Beth Rinyu, reserved us a special surprise. Something to coat all that bullshit wonderful story in sugary sweet.

Nicole realizes that little Ryan O’Maley is the son she gave up for adoption when she was 19!
Because, see, little Ryan, blankie is non other than the same elephant she gave him when he was born. The same elephant that still has her dead brother’s initial on it. There it is, proof!

Dailan literally proposes to her instantly after the huge revelation. She accepts.

There’s an epilogue. Hooray. She gets pregnant. She rekindled with her lost son. She married. Dailan.

And there is a sequel.

So all in all, this was way too much drama for this little book. It's been a while since I had that much of it. But Unplanned Lesson, learned.

No, No, No! This book can’t be over! It just can’t!!! I want more and I want it now Dammit!!

I love it too much for it to end and do not want my new Irish sexy book boyfriend/lover Dailan O’Maley to be out of my life. He is simply perfection… he is sexy as heck, has an Irish accent, is a lawyer, and is an amazing guardian to his cute 8 year-old nephew. Plus he totally charmed my panties off! I couldn’t put An Unplanned Lesson down and couldn’t wait to finish it but at the same time I was sad each time my kindle’s percentage of the book I read was going up… I just wanted it to last forever.

description

An Unplanned Lesson by Beth Rinyu is an adorable story of new second grade teacher Nicole who recently got out of a relationship due to her commit issues who falls in love with one of her students Uncle’s, Dailan. Dailan is the legal guardian of the boy (Ryan) after his parents were killed in a car accident. Nicole and Dailan meet in a unique way at a bar one night after a lot of drinking and to her surprise it turns out he is the trouble maker of her class uncle. Dailan is sexy and he knows it. He doesn’t do the relationship thing much either and is very confident in his looks and sex appeal. He wants into Nicole’s panties and she wants him to but doesn’t act on it because of how arrogant he is and the fact his nephew is her student. As Nicole begins to help Ryan with his inappropriate classroom behavior the two become attached and start to spend time together outside of school along with Dailan. The three of them are adorable together and of course Dailan’s charm begins to wear on Nicole and soon the two begin a romantic but platonic relationship. Both going in thinking Dailan will soon be moving back to Ireland with Ryan and the their platonic relationship will end but soon both Dailan and Nicole begin to feel love for one another but can they go past the walls of commit they both have to be together and admit their feelings before it’s too late?

Let me tell you, I was not expecting to really love this book. I thought the synopsis sounded adorable and as a teacher I am sucker for romance novels involving teachers. I thought I would like it but not love it. Once I started reading I was hooked and on the Dailan O’Maley ride and did want to get off!

Ms. Rinyu is a wonderful writer who wrote amazing characters and very cute plot. I adored Nicole, Dailan (of course), and Ryan who was incredibly cute! I usually get annoyed with young children in books but not Ryan. The sarcastic banter between Dailan and Nicole made me laugh out loud. I love their teasing of one another which was totally hot foreplay if you ask me! I loved that the ending was not rushed and I felt everything connected and came together not leaving anything out. I was very happy with everything at the end. I also really liked that both Nicole and Dailan had issues with making a commitment, not just the guy. It was different and enjoyable to see how they both were changing each other for the better all during their “fun” relationship.

An Unplanned Lesson is not a book full of emotions though there are sweet and sad parts written in. It is a fun adorable romance novel that helped me escaped my own word of grading papers, lesson plans, and cleaning my house to get to know Nicole, sexy Dailan, and Ryan. I thought it was one of the best “fun” romance novels out there and I highly recommend it. Though I usually save my 5 star ratings for books more in depth and a bit of a more emotional edge to it I found An Unplanned Lesson to be a book I loved and will definitely want to reread and connect with my new book lover Dailan again.

I give An Uplanned Lesson 5 stars and on my favorites list!

I can’t wait to read more from Beth Rinyu in the future.

This book was given to me by the author in return for an honest review.

I just wanted to tell all of you how SUPER excited I am to share this story with you! Since I made everyone cry with my last novel, I decided that I would try something a little lighter with this one. I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I had writing this. Nicole and Dailan are my new favorite couple. I'm now having a major writing hangover because I can't get my mind off their story and move on with the next. I think you will all love Nicole and the crazy messes that she gets herself into. And Dailan, well I'm positive that he will grow on you! I cannot wait to share their story with all of you guys. It won't be much longer! Happy Reading :)

4 stars. Entertaining cute read. Well, since I can't go to Ireland a HOT Irish guy would have to do!
Both characters had baggage and insecurities but believe it or not it worked well for them since neither had any expectations for the future....yet.

What could have made this book better? More schmexy steamy scenes. The "it" scenes were not exactly fade to black but not much more. A tiny bit more was given at times but not much. The author seems to be uncomfortable with writing the steamy scenes,-example; the use of the work penis- who refers to the lovely male part that way in a romance novel? I get it I really do, I am sure it is difficult to write those type of scenes. Even though this was not one of "those" books more descriptive sex scenes would have knocked the book out of the park especially since that is what attracted them to each other in the first place.

The witty banter and sarcasm made me laugh out loud. The chemistry between the two characters was undeniable. I will definitely read more from this author

-- A Romantic Book Affairs Review

Nicole Morgan just got a new job teaching second grade. She’s a sweet and compassionate woman who wants to do the right thing by her students. So, when one of her students, named Ryan, starts acting mischievous and gets behind in his schoolwork, Nicole contacts his Uncle/guardian by email to schedule a conference to figure out how to help him. But Nicole wasn’t expecting a rude and arrogant email back from Mr. O’Maley. This man really tested her patience and, little did Nicole know, he would be the one to change her life.

Dailan O’Maley is a smart and successful lawyer who knows he is all kinds of sexy with his sinful body, sexy Irish brogue, and devilish smile. He was appointed guardian when his brother and sister-in-law were killed in a car accident. He’s inexperienced at being a father but he is determined to do everything he can to make sure Ryan is taken care of. Not only does he carry around his own emotional baggage, but he doesn’t do relationships either.

Before Nicole and Dailan actually meet, they happen to run into each other at a bar, not knowing that she is Miss Morgan, the teacher, and Mr. O’Maley, the rude guardian. They end up flirting together. Nicole was on the verge of going home with Dailan when they figure out who the other is. Embarrassed and annoyed by the smug but very sexy Irishman, Nicole leaves the club immediately hoping Dailan will forget this happened. Oh, but Dailan doesn’t let it go. And when they do see each other again, Dailan makes it very clear that he wants Nicole naked in his bed. He’s definitely hot for teacher.

Nicole and Dailan work together to help Ryan get back on track and, during this time, the sexual tension between Nicole and Dailan continues to heat up. But, for eight years, Nicole has been punishing herself with guilt and shame due to a mistake she made that changed her life. Because of this mistake, she has commitment issues, unable to let herself settle down with someone. Which is why Nicole does her best to keep her distance from Dailan, but the man is stubborn and relentless in his pursuit of her. Trying to say no to Dailan proves to be impossible for Nicole and soon a deep connection is formed that leads to a sexy and sweet romance when their walls start to crumble. But will they both be able to let go of their past so they can have a future together?

As the story continues, there are hints as to what happened to Nicole in the past, but the secret remains a mystery until the end. It was a constant guessing game for me trying to figure out what she was hiding. It killed me not knowing and had me reading faster to find out. When this secret is finally revealed, I was shocked and then I cried. I really did not see that coming. What an emotional twist indeed.

This book is charming and sweet with some drama that made for an emotional read. The chemistry between Nicole and Dailan is fantastic with all of the flirty and fun banter. They are passionate together, but don’t expect a lot of detailed sex scenes. Sorry smut lovers. I will admit that Nicole was very frustrating at times with the way she went back and forth over her feelings for Dailan. She was hot one minute and cold the next. If there was any man that could tear down her walls that would be Dailan with his melting words and smoldering kisses. I was smitten with him right from the start. Dailan is my favorite hero Beth Rinyu has written to date. He’s definitely the sexiest.

This is the third book I’ve read by Beth Rinyu and she continues to impress me with her lovely writing. I can honestly say An Unplanned Lesson was an unplanned wonderful surprise. I wasn’t really sure what to expect going into this story. All I knew is that the hero was Irish and I had to meet him. So glad I did! This is an emotional, sweet, swoony, sexy, and heartbreaking story that I highly recommend to anyone who likes to read contemporary romance with an adorable, awesome kid in the mix that nearly stole the show. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel, An Unplanned Life. But this book can be read as a stand-alone.

I'm so glad that I read this book. It started off slow in the beggining but as the story progressed I got really into it, but then I also got frustrated like really frustrated. Nicole has a major issue throughout this book and its a huge stumbling block for any relationship she's ever been in and her relationship with Dailan O' Maley. I got really angry at her and would have slapped her if I could have. I almost didn't finish reading this book just because I was at 60% and I still didn't know what her problem was. The way I saw it her behaviour was ridiculous there was no issue that bad that could make her act so stupidly! Not to mention her parents and sister especially her dad who basically treated her as if she was a stranger all because of this one issue! I was fuming, I mean her own father! And I still didn't know what it was. Then finally at the most perfect moment I realised what it was, I mean I had my suspicions but my suspicions and what it actually was were completely different. I was flabbergasted, blown away. I just sat there with my jaw on my knees. And then everything made sense and I felt so bad for her but not her family because there was no excuse for how they treated her! The ending was perfect and everything just fell into place wonderfully. Excellent!

Loved it!!!! I laughed. I cried. I swooned. This was such a great story. Totally binge read this one.

These two had me laughing out loud during their first few encounters. Dailan's crassness is definitely balanced out by Nicole's "appropriateness". I think I had a smile on my face for nearly the entire book.

I know there is a sequel, but I'm not reading it. Why not if l loved this so much? Well, I love where An Unplanned Lesson ended. I don't need anymore. To me it was perfect, and I don't want to spoil that "ahhhhh" feeling was a left with after the last page.

Great story. Nicole is Ryan's second grade teacher. Dailan is Ryan's very sexy guardian/uncle. a really nice story build up with great characters. Both have somewhat of a troubled, mysterious past that adds to the drama especially the last 20% of the book. Nice ending with a sweet epilogue. Looking forward to the next.

Oh my heart *sniff sniff* tissue please.

I received a copy of An Unplanned Lesson from the author in exchange for an honest review.

What a sweet, warm, refreshing love story. I couldn't get enough of this book and devoured it in a day. Beth Rinyu is a true talent!! Her writing is clear, clean and very enjoyable to read. An Unplanned Lesson is an extremely well written book with strong defined characters and story line. Rinyu blew me away with the way she closed the story and tied everything together, that was unexpected and impressive.

Nicole Morgan and Dailan O’Maley fit together so perfectly. Nicole is a young, independent, second grade teacher. She seems to struggle with some self esteem issues but holds her ground when she knows she’s right. Dailan a successful lawyer from Ireland is the guy you love to hate. He’s successful, gorgeous, and just about the best damn womanizer there is and very aware of the fact. Add in a cute little boy named Ryan and you have the perfect dynamic of a family that is meant to be, but struggling to get to that perfect happy ever after.

I love that the story was more about the characters and their relationship rather then the sex, although that was really hot too. Nicole and Dailan are both very stubborn. The two of them just feed off of each other and it is quite comical. I couldn't wait to read the next witty come back or see who was going to give in first. Both have their own secrets and inner demons, but how the two of them come together to workout and support one another is what makes this story so magical. It is just simply a beautiful love story. *sigh*

The ending is a doozy!! I was NOT expecting that at all. I don’t know what made me cry more, the pain Nicole was going through or the pure happiness she felt. To sum it up Nicole’s and Dailan’s story rocks and I can’t wait to get my hands on An Unplanned Life book 2.

4 Whose Your Uncle? Stars

I'm a teacher. I have taught Kindergarten through High School Seniors. I can tell you...the younger they are, they harder you work. Not that high school teachers don't work hard. They do. But elementary teachers...they work their butts off. So what reward do they get? Well Nicole, the second grade teacher in Unplanned Lesson, gets a great reward....a Super Sexy Uncle of one of her students. Where was the sexy Irish accented Uncle when I was teaching second grade?

Dailon is raising his nephew after his brother and sister in law are killed in an accident. He is not sure he is doing it right, but he is trying. Trying to do right by his nephew, trying to do right by his job and would like to do right by Nicole. But what does that mean? He doesn't have a lot of time to give to her. But he can't stay away.

Nicole is a sweet young teacher who wants to do a good job and it tired of having her heart broken. So she is concentrating on being a good teacher, a good friend and trying to avoid her family. They abandoned her after THAT happened. Dailon seems like he wants more. But can she trust him? Can she trust her own judgment when her family questions her past choices?

Dailon O'Maley had opened his heart to me. Now I had to decide if I wanted to enter.

And the end....the end of the book? WOW. I really did not see that coming. This is a sweet romance. Not too steamy. (I really wanted more steamy cause Dailon is oh so sexy) Fun, romantic, not to angsty, read. Much better than grading papers.

This book was part of a blog tour I received a copy for my honest review

Nicole has issues with relationships, she is a great teacher and puts everything she has into taking care of the kids in her classroom. When Dailan walks into her life she slowly begins to thaw towards him. This was a a cute read, the two main characters fit well together. Their problems seemed realistic and I respected the fact that Nicole and Dailan both put Ryans needs ahead of their own. I loved the fact that the editing in this book was done really well. Nicole and Dailans story was a sweet read, the secret at the end added a little twist that was frustrating to me at times but I think the author revealed it at just the right time. This book was a good quick read that holds your attention without gutting you.

VERY GOOD: The characteristics of a 4 star book include: a great story; I loved the characters; and there was an interesting plot and unique story elements; there may have been a few odd things kept the story from being amazing. I would read it again and I would recommend it to a friend.
Book Description:
Nicole Morgan, the new second grade teacher at Pineview Elementary school, has it all together in the classroom; it’s her personal life that she can’t find peace with. Unable to let go of the guilt that she is harboring from her past, she punishes herself by running from all potential relationships.

Unbeknownst to her, he holds more than just the key to her heart.

Initial Reaction:
Wow. I was just not expecting THAT. Excellent twist there at the end.

My Thought:
An Unplanned Lesson was an unexpected gem of a story. It was a little sad in spots but mostly very sweet and very funny. Dailan and Nicole's unauspiscious introduction was absolutely hilarious and the cat and mouse game that ensued was truly entertaining...especially every time Nicole succame to Dailan's advances. The erroneous text messages, the witty retorts, and the banter between them kept me laughing through the first quarter of the story.

Nicole's strained relationship with her family was woven all throughout the story. Ms. Rinyu alluded to an earlier event that caused the strain but the reader is journeying through the 8 year aftermath. The only person that Nicole has a decent relationship with is her younger brother, and Marine, Justin. Justin was her rock and her only real familial connection throughout most of the story. It really and truly broke my heart when that changed. I was actually in tears. *No hints from me...you'll have to read it to find out what happened...keep your hanky handy* :) But because of Justin and one other situation, the family was able to reconnect and reconcile.

Little Ryan was such a sweetheart! You just wanted to hug him. He was the bridge that connected Dailan and Nicole in more ways than one.

At about 95% the big secret hadn't been revealed and I was getting a little irritated thinking that the author had forgotten about it. I mean seriously...it was a major part of the story and it was forgotten?!?! *eye roll* With 5% of the story remaining, Rinyu nicely closed the loop and tied all the little details together. It was remarkably well done. The reader was able to understand everything.

In a nutshell, the story was sweet, funny, and very charming. Read it. Love it!

A swoon-worthy Irishman, an adorable little boy, a sweet love story…yes, please! This was a fun, quick read that will hit all the high points for anyone who loves a good romance with just enough other stuff going on that it doesn’t become overly mushy! A great read for those who love love!

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I felt connected to them and learned enough about their backgrounds to feel like they could be friends of mine…so, it made me care about what happened to them. Nicole has a past she’d rather not think about and a family who doesn’t care enough about her, but she also has strong friendships she can rely on. She’s strong and, even though it takes her a while to get there, she is moving forward in her life. And, lucky for her, she finds Dailan O’Maley. Dailan is one of those characters…a guy who gets under your skin and burrows into your heart before you even realize he’s there. He’s cocky, confident, smart, caring, sweet and sexy-as-heck! He’s got a lot on his plate looking after his nephew (who’s adorable, by the way) and dealing with the death of his brother. He’s carrying guilt and sadness with him and really isn’t looking for love. The good news is that love finds them both! Their chemistry was perfect…explosive from the very start. And that might have been enough to make this a good book. But, I loved that the author chose to give these two a slow burn, some angst and a few bumps in the road to romance. It made it all that much sweeter!

So, by now you’re wondering why 4 stars and not 5. After all, the story was great and I loved the characters. Well, for me, there were two things that could have been done just a little bit differently. First up, the intimate scenes. Although they were shmexy, for me they were just a bit off. I know it’s very difficult to write those types of scenes and, to be honest, I’m having a hard time putting into words what was missing for me, but I think, ultimately, it might have been the flow. All the elements were there but at times the scenes felt a bit too choppy to get my heart racing as quickly as I’d like. However, they still made me happy. The second issue is not really an issue at all. I loved and hated the end at the same time. It was shocking and surprising…win! It was sweet and perfect…win! But it felt too perfect, too contrived…not such a win for me!

So, do I recommend this book? Absolutely. It had great characters and a wonderful story. It was filled with romance, angst and a little steam. And made me smile. Better yet…book 2 is already out!!

This was a great story that I really enjoyed.

Nicole Morgan is a second grade teacher whose past haunts her and prevents her from committing to a relationship long term. She is loving, caring and a great teacher, but doesn't have a good relationship with her family due to her past, except for her brother Justin who she loves dearly. When a student in her class continually misbehaves she is forced to contact his guardian.

Bring on the sexy Irishman!
Dailan O'Maley is a hot as hell lawyer, who is the legal guardian of his 8 year old nephew Ryan. Although a bit of a jerk at first, he is charming, charismatic and completely sexy. After an unexpected start the two embark on a tentative relationship, never making plans for their next encounter. As things progress and become more frequent, titles are given and Nicole forms a strong relationship with both Dailan and Ryan.

Through lack of communication, mishaps, a meddling mother of a student, an evil work colleague and the inevitability of Dailan and Ryan going back to Ireland, Nicole and Dailan's relationship breaks down. However, through loss, heartbreak and a near horrific event, the couple find their way back to each other and both profess their love.

The ending in this story is just WOW! I was definitely not expecting the secret of Nicole's past to be what it was, but was amazed at how perfectly it fit. I loved the ending and thought it rounded out everything beautifully.

Nicole's families attitude towards her was heartbreaking and had me feeling really annoyed. While I was glad that the riffs were mended, when her secret was revealed I couldn't believe how angry I was at them for way they treated her. I loved Justin her brother and his emails and tears were absolutely shed for him and how his part of the story panned out.

Beth has done a great job with this story. Her writing style is a pleasure to read and flowed easily. I loved these characters, they pulled you in even when they annoyed you and I can't wait to read where their lives take them next in Unplanned Life.

This is such an amazing book about a girl called Nicole Morgan who had a tough teenage life with been disowned by her family except for her brother Justin just because by getting pregnant at seventeen and giving him up. Seven years later she becomes a second grade teacher and she comes across one of her students Ryan O Maley who is disturbed as he lost his parents in a car accident and was left in the care of his uncle Dailan. Dailan loves using a lot of swear words and Ryan is picking up on them and brings it to school. Nicole does her best with him but he always gets complaints from other parents. Dailan is an obnoxious lawyer who can't see wrong by telling Nicole that Ryan is her problem between 9&3. When Nicole meets Dailan he has an instant attraction to her but Nicole wants none of it. As time goes on it gets more intense with them. It was just after Ryan's birthday when it came to light that Ryan was infact Nicole's son she had given away the reason she found out was she was given an elephant by her brother when she was eight then passed it on when she had the baby. When she told Dailan the truth about Ryan he couldn't love anymore than he already did so he proposes. They were married and it was around Christmas time that Nicole was 3 months pregnant and it was her and her sexy Irish hunk of a husband only knew.

Nicole is funny when she is drunk, "I teach second grade and my day ended with an obnoxious e-mail from a pompous a** who's the uncle of one of my students." Dailan has no issue of going past people's comfort zones, "I quickly grabbed my cardigan off the back of my chair and buttoned up the middle button to cover what little cleavage I had. "I liked it better off," he said with a crooked smile." I shifted my head up from the papers and shot him a look of disgust. "I'm sorry; just being honest," he said playfully." Dailan has diharrea of the damned mouth, "do you always take demands like that from a man, darlin'? If so, I think I need to get you in the bedroom," he said as he rubbed the scruff on his cheek." He's no bashful either, "he kissed me on the top of my head before releasing me from his hold. I got up and began to dress, while he remained lying down, watching me. "What the heck is up with that underwear?" he asked." When the boy is pi**ed he hits below the belt, "he looked back up with coldness in his eyes and a sarcastic smile. "What do you miss, Nicole, the sex? Because we can do it right here, right now, if you'd like." I loved this book and I loved Dailan.

A cute, simple, and quick story with the most delicious man I'd love to have for myself. Yum! I loved Dailan's sense of humour, his playfulness, just says what's on his mind, doesn't play any head games, and isn't afraid to admit his feelings for Nicole. I loved how they met and the antics he kept at to get Nicole to go out with him. They were great together. My only issue was the ending; how everything was wrapped up so quickly when the truth came out. I had some inkling as to what the secret was, but didn't see the direction it took; quite the surprise. I really loved the close relationship Nicole had with her brother, Justin; considering how their parents thought so little of both of them, it was really endearing to see how much they loved and supported each other. It's because of this that tears were shed (and you'll see why when you read it yourself). In the end, a terrific story that includes one sexy, charming man that would definitely leave you smiling in more ways than one.

Um, holy shit!
I have no idea what just happened to me.

So Unplanned Lesson was like one of those Lifetime Television for Women movies that you get sucked into on a Sunday afternoon, only to get excited to know that you'll get to watch it again at 9pm.
Nicole and Dailan have to be some of the best heart-warming characters I've ever read. I fell in love with both of them immediately. Okay, so it took a few chapters to warm up to Dailan, but I love guys that start out like jerks - it makes it harder to redeem themselves...and suddenly I'm in love. ARG! So amazingly good.
The ending. OH! This ending. I felt like I was suddenly swept into a whirlwind, and I needed it to slow down! Before I even had a chance to stop sobbing from the chapter before, I was now processing a whole new plot twist. I was completely taken off guard and hadn't predicted any of it!
So I guess now I'll be adding all of Beth Rinyu's books to my To Read shelf, because I was completely impressed with this one.

AN UNPLANNED LESSON by BETH RINYU

The synopsis of this book got me hooked that’s why I decided to give it a shot and luckily, it did not disappoint. It’s actually a feel good read and you should give it a try.

Morgan & Dailan’s story is sweet & interesting. And I have to admit the surprise by the end of the story is something that I did not expect. I was thinking of something more dramatic & tragic that it did not crossed my mind. Rinyu is clever. Before the last chapter I was asking while reading it, “When am I going to learn what happened to Morgan in the past? The story is about to end.” And before I even go crazy, I got my answer. And what an answer that was!

Like I said, it’s worth reading. :)

I was provided a copy of this book for an honest review. I was drawn in almost immediately. I loved the back and forth banter between Dailan and Nicole. I absolutely adored Ryan! Nicole was a complex person who was excellent in her job, loyal to her friends but I was frustrated with her opinion of herself and with most of her family's attitude. Dailan was charming and frustrating all in turns but I knew he was a good challenge for Nicole. I loved Nicole's brother and Dailan's sister-in-law as support characters. I also found Dailan's dad charming and very sharp. I would recommend this to my friends it was wonderful. I think the balance that is struck between the changes in both characters was fabulous.

This was a perfect HEA read. No cliffhanger ending that will have you pining for months waiting for your next fix. Both characters were well developed and had "issues" that they could overcome within the time frame of the book. Dailan was a sexy Irish somewhat bad boy womanizer with baggage, but that could definitely be overlooked if he was calling me "beautiful" :) Nicole's character had a bit more depth, I felt for her as she struggled with all that happened throughout the book. I'm glad I read it and will be keeping my eyes open for more from this author.

I didn't see that one coming! I had my suspicion on what happened to Nicole but not the connection. It was a nice touch. This book is an emotional ride on it's own way. My heart broke for Ryan, so I'm happy with what happened. Nicole is a likable character despite being vague on her reasoning at times. Add in the story a sarcastic (well he's a lawyer after all), sexy Irish who's a sweet uncle and you have a nice read.

This is my third Beth Rinyu book, and I can say she is a new favorite. Next please. :)

I really enjoyed this one. Nicole was so funny, the situations that she found herself in. When she asked her best friend Donna's husband what she was gonna do after a particular situation and he responded with "I don't know, but you sure keep us amused" That was freaking hilarious! I don't think I ever laughed so hard! I'm glad Nicole and Dailan toned it down with all of the joking with each other because at a point I was starting to get turned off. I loved how it progressed. It was sad at a couple of points but there was a reward at the end and I loved it. Brilliant read!!

This book was recommending by goodreads friend. And what a surprise. I was hooked. It kept me on my toes and yes so did Mr Dailan O'malley. God he was sexy. With his crude banter that made your pant.... But most of all how the story progress thru out the book about the hinder and hurtful past of Miss Morgan.
Amazing read!

I really enjoyed this book! Nicole is such a great character and Dailan, while he had some asshole moments, ended up being so great. I mean, what can be better than a hot Irish guy, am I right?!

I had my guesses for how the book would end and I was somewhat right, but I really enjoyed the spin. Small small world :)

5 stars for sure!
