This is not an audio book this is a podcast repackaged with an "audio book" label slapped on the front. The lessons are 5-10 minutes long and have titles like "Our five favorite Hispanic dishes" and "Five things a Spanish instructor won't teach you." Cultural things are relevant to learning a language, but I think that starting with buzz feed articles is not the best way to learn a language. It is a very hodgepodge collection.

That being said, I did find their pronunciation tips helpful. Because I've done other "Learn Spanish in Your Car" audio books and Duolingo, I had some context for their cultural episodes and did learn some things. This is 3 hours of two guys mostly talking in English very quickly and throwing in Spanish words here and there and only mostly explaining what those words mean. The time spent listening to conversations in Spanish is about 4 minutes. The time spent hearing a Spanish word, with time to repeat it, and then the English translation is about 15 minutes. So the number of words taught is extremely limited. But they also do explain some slang words so there is vocabulary covered which other books and programs don't spend much time on (because the others are focusing on the staples).

“Audiobook”

They’re podcasts, there’s no particular order, and it suddenly becomes more cultural and pronunciation tips than, like, basic conversational Spanish. Not what I wanted, not particularly useful for new learners- I’ll discover the nuances of the Argentine dropped “s” once I get that far in Spanish, ya? You telling me that and numerous other pronunciation differences between countries- I get making a note of it, but the back half of this is mostly that and cultural stuff. Not the most basic or fundamental.

This is a podcast-style 'lesson' that includes some basic beginner Spanish words and phrases with lots of mentions of different pronunciations depending on the location and origination of the language. Also includes some pop culture and commonly used, modern slang/lingo.

This felt rushed. Even the parts in English, they talked so fast that I had to slow it down a bit. I'm a native English speaker. They also didn't start speaking the Spanish parts slowly until chapter 4, with the numbers of all things. The German audiobooks from this company are much better.

I listen to this Audible to it's completion every day to it's completion. In addition, I allow it to play on low volume throughout the night as my white noise to avoid the sounds of my neighbors and their animals.

My goal is by the end of the month to have actually not only understood lessons 1 through 4 nailed them down. I would like to speak these lessons of Spanish as natural as possible with my southern accent. I would also like to be able to read, write, and translate the language using proper grammar in both Spanish and English.

Wish me luck!!! My over all goal is to completely understand all aspects of Spanish Level 1: Introduction to Spanish, Volume 1: Lessons 1-25 before the New Year.
