I couldn’t get past the fact that the author, in so many words, states that the NFL is the only professional football league in the world, totally ignoring that the Canadian Football League has been around since 1958, and that football has been played in Canada as far back as 1903. I knew this book was about the American version of football when I bought it, but that introduction turned me off right away.
A good, if basic, introduction to the sport, focusing on the rules of the game and what each player does. Written in plain English, it achieves what it’s intended to do. Suitable for young readers, and for those who are either new to the game or casual fans like myself.
Pretty good book, but not what I was looking for. I'm a neophyte at football, but I was looking for a book that would answer questions like "why would a team punt on 4th and Inches?" not "What is a football?" This book is almost entirely the latter.
