Ann Spangler is the best-selling author of numerous books, including Praying the Names of God, Women of the Bible, and Finding the Peace God Promises. An award-winning writer, Ann’s books have sold millions of copies over the course of her writing career. The mission of her books is to help readers strengthen their connection with God by encountering him in Scripture.

Before becoming a writer, Ann was an acquiring editor at various Christian publishers. From her unique perspective as an author and publishing professional, she believes readers are looking for well-written books that address the deep spiritual hungers that characterize our world.

She is the mother of two teenage daughters, both of whom were born in mainland China. In her spare time (what is spare time?), she loves to read, have dinner with friends, spend time on Lake Michigan’s beautiful beaches, travel, and stream British TV shows. An admitted Anglophile, she harbors deep prejudices in favor of anything British.

I was really frustrated by the quoting of other authors. A large amount of the time, their thoughts took up the vast majority of the daily devotional.

But the final straw for me was comparing something in a Harry Potter movie to anything biblical. I know I’ll get some flack for this but Harry Potter is magic and the Bible very clearly states to not have anything to do with magic. I felt that was a very poor analogy.

Peace, Comfort & Joy

I read this devotional every morning before reading the Bible, as part of my goal to grow spiritually. Ann Spangler’s writings are comforting and thought provoking. We live in such a fast paced world that it is easy to forget the promises our Lord has given us. His peace is always with us. All that we have to do is stop, take a breath and ask him to helps us through.....

so wanted to like this book but it just fell flat for me. I wish the devotionals were a bit longer and more in depth, but I understand the mass appeal of a single page per day.

I wouldn't recommend this book if you want to go deeper intro Scripture with your devotional reading, but if you desire a quick few minutes to get into the habit, this book might work for you.

These devotionals are nice and short, but therefore mostly not quite meaty enough for me.

I found most of the devotions to be personable, with words of wisdom to carry me throughout the day. I highly recommend!

Ann Spangler has written a fabulous book – The One Year Devotions for Women – which is designed to help us explore this concept and to experience the peace that Jesus promised us in that verse!

In The One Year Devotions For Women – Becoming A Women Of Peace, Ann has written an extremely readable and relevant devotional that speaks directly to the needs of women from all walks of life, providing them with a daily Scripture to meditate on – an interesting devotion filled with personal anecdotes, stories or quotes to mull over – and a short but meaningful closing prayer.

Perfect daily devotions for even the busiest women. These are easy to follow and can be started any day of the year. I loved everything about this book, even the beautiful cover. Each day is designed to be simple to understand and take very little time out of our very busy lives. It's easy to read and lovely to behold. This would make a perfect gift, even as a gift to yourself. Following the daily devotions brings a sense of peace and a deeper understanding of our inner selves while strengthening our bond and relationship with God.

The three one-year devotionals below are intended for people and families who lead busy lives. Their daily use takes only minutes from busy schedules and establishes enjoyable habits that foster togetherness. In addition, their consistent use increases Bible knowledge, encourages prayer, spiritual growth and intimacy with God.

With Christmas and New Year’s just weeks away one-year devotionals are a good gift choice as thoughts turn to new beginnings in the New Year.

I discovered this devotional in October, through the Bible app on my phone, and began binge-reading the entries in an effort to finish the entire book this year, with the intent to start on January 1 by reading one entry per day and really let the truths sink in. My greatest take-away has been that shalom, biblical peace, implies wholeness. It's not a feeling of serenity, but knowing that you are complete in Christ.
