The Aliomenti Saga #5

Preserving Will

Rate this book
He's provided for each of them the opportunity to lead a life of health, wealth, and power far beyond their imagination. He's showed them, by personal example, that such gifts are meant to be shared, used to make the world a better place. And he's never asked them for anything in return, showing a willingness to risk even his own life to live to his own ideals.

Now Will Stark needs their help. He's helpless, he's uneducated, and he's about to meet men who can utterly destroy him.

And they'll need to make sure that's exactly what happens.

Prodded by memories and with the aid of future hindsight, they'll work tirelessly, take on alternate personalities, and ensure that the plan is carried out in its entirety. In the process, they'll learn that selfless sacrifice can demand a heavy price. They'll know that even high technology can't overcome the human spirit.

And they'll understand that, even with perfect hindsight, surprises beyond expectation can -- and do -- occur.

I am a lifelong Ohio resident, where I live with my wife and three children. When I'm not trying to be in three places at once with my active youngsters, I'm following local professional and collegiate sports teams, or possibly unscrambling a Rubik's Cube. In lieu of sleep, I read and write fiction.

My debut novel, A QUESTION OF WILL, explores themes of technological advancement, human potential (good and bad), and the love bonding a family together. It reached the Amazon Top 100 in Science Fiction -> High Tech less than a week after publication. The sequels--PRESERVING HOPE, ASCENT OF THE ALIOMENTI, and BIRTH OF THE ALLIANCE--continue to follow Will's adventures, bringing to life the technological and Energy advances he's achieved in entirely new settings.

I am currently drafting the fifth of seven novels in the series.

Going back to Will's past, to when he did not own any energy and was just a young orphan uncared for and unloved by his parents is what the previous books have been building up to. Will at his most vulnerable must depend on the rest of his alliance friends to protect him at the hands of the assassin when they attack his home and family! They have all been prepared for this day however even with foresight and hindsight things which are unexpected can and do happen!! The whole team works together as planned and we get to see some more futuristic innovations put in place but can they save Will? The surprising thing for me was seeing young Will and old Will at the same time, i did not think they could help out one another or be in the same place at the same time but in this series everything is possible!! Also love the character of Will's and Hope's son, he acts a fantastic part keeping his powers hidden from the young Will even though this is the thing that hurts Will the most, thinking his son is mute and unable to communicate or react to anything around him. History cannot be changed and none will do anything to tamper with what is meant to happen however they do their best to save lives and hence the clones. Am so hooked and dying to go on reading the rest of this brilliant fantastic series!

Good Follow Through

This series has been quite pleasing and exciting to read. However, "Preserving Will" was not as tightly written or proofed nearly as well as the first four books. The story line follows and many questions are answered, but the reader is treated as though they are stupid and the author repeats himself often with repetitive descriptions and solutions. So much attention to detail goes into planning the recurrence of Will's abduction, yet I still felt like an outsider. I wanted to be in the nitty gritty of it, not being told what was happening. Believe me I am just as excited to start on Book 6 as I was to begin Book 5, but I feel as though the author has put me on the sidelines looking in , instead of submerged with all the great characters to help Will.

I love this Saga. This whole series represents things that humans wish they could actually do. Alex has thought of all the details throughout. What an amazing imagination to share with us all. I would recommend this to anyone. You are pulled in from the very first book and can't wait to get to the next. I have not found one area yet that I wasn't surprised at the detail and thought that went into this.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Audible Membership)

The saga continues, going back over the original events, now with a whole Alliance group who had analysed each sequence of events, using memories that Will had shared, in an advanced way, that every conceivable moment could be accounted for.
The major events in the current time, that the whole time travel back to Elizabeth's early beginnings, had finally occurred, so what happens now?

One blast after another

This book is a continuation of the series. If this is your first book, go get the first 3 books in the series. I love this series so much, I read every spare moment. Will is a favorite character in the story. You get to meet Angel. Will and Hopes baby daughter. Hope is emotional and unlike her normal self. Enjoy.

This is my second time reading this series. The story sucks you in. It is told in great depth you practically are the characters seeing, hearing, and feeling the entire experience! My ONLY complaint is the lack of a physical book. I get too wrapped up in the story and I forget to check my battery level!

...what a timeline

this was a good close to the original storyline. While I would like to continue reading this series this book leaves me satisfied enough to take a break and read something else.

The day has arrived

There were so many plans put in place all leading to a single moment. But just like real life it seems there is always some last minute surprises. This book does a great deal to fill in many holes I had. On to the next book

After a lull in the third book with a lot of rehashing, the fourth and fifth books have been excellent! I'm looking forward to starting the sixth momentarily!

This one is my absolute favorite! Something about the pacing, as well the extra action tied into the past and future versions of Will Stark.

While this book certainly wasn't my favorite in the series, it was still a good read. The reason I'm not as thrilled by it as the others is you kind of already know what is going to happen. The entire point of the book is to prepare for the night the Hunters show up to murder Will and his family, and there weren't that many interesting developments to distract from the main plot. But a terrible book, but I liked others in the series much more. I'm interested about the next two books though because most of them should be new stuff that hasn't been explained yet.

Nothing really new or unexpected happens in this book, but at last this fifth book tied together all the anticipation building up to this time where it all started. Skillfull writing keeps one intrigued and drawn in to the very last page. Always wanting more.. I definitely want to know what happens next as the next book will be the first set of information we've never read about in the previous books, and yes, what happens to Hope? Cant wait to read the next book!

Brilliant - could not put it down! The author has yet again managed to further develop the story and add even more depth and experiences to the characters. It's a story that brings to life things that we can only dream about. Very clever and I am really enjoying the series. Not quite sure what I will do when I run out of books in the series...

The books are getting better and better in this series. Even though you know way is going to happen (from previous books in the series) it is interesting to see all the other perspectives of the events. Another great read...on to book 6.

Series continues

I love this series. This book gives the back-story for the first one. It's obviously an important part of the larger story but didn't impress me as much on its own as other books in the series. Perhaps I was expecting more detail about Will's innovativeness.

Aliomenti Saga

Can't stop reading this series. Just finished reading book 5 and immediately purchased book 6. The storyline keeps you hooked, always wanting to know what is happening to its characters. Will be sad when I finish book 7, the last in the series.
