This book series came along from a ten-episode season written for TV, and has taken on a life of it's own.

Sam is a girl who can hear spirits. Her father bought a haunted house when she was younger which turned out to actually be a portal for spirits to cross through, and Sam has had nightmares subsequently for years.
Now she suddenly finds herself outside a burning church, miles away from where she went to sleep, and with absolutely no idea how she came to be there. Luckily though, she is rescued by Zander.
Zander is a member of SPIRIT – Special Paranormal Investigative Research and Intelligence Team. He can see spirits, and his job is to get rid of them. When he meets Sam, he feels an instant attraction to her.
Strange things are happening though; Sam and Zander realise that when they are together, they have powers – Sam can control fire, and Zander can control electricity and lightning, which they haven’t noticed before. Then it seems that they have actually met before; when Zander rescued Sam from drowning one summer, and they know that they are destined to be together.
Sam still doesn’t understand how and why she came to be where she is now though, and Zander and his team begin to look into the strange happenings. Things get really weird when they realise that the town they are now in is an exact duplicate of the town where Sam grew up, right down to the people living there.
It’s up to Sam, Zander and his team to find out what is going on and fast.
This was an interesting storyline. I got a little confused in places where I couldn’t quite follow what was going on but it all came together at the end.
The romance in this book was lovely. Sam and Zander know that they are meant to be together, even when they have only just met, and are there for each other throughout the book. Both Sam and Zander are very genuine characters, and their love just seemed so real, The ‘love’ scenes were steamy while still being special, and you couldn’t help but be sucked in to Sam and Zander’s romance.
There were a few cases where a word was used wrongly (e.g.: where, were, wear) but nothing much, and it didn't detract from the story.
Overall, I’d say that this book was stronger on the Romance aspect than the other storylines, but if you can overlook a few niggles and enjoy romance novels then you will probably enjoy this book.

Zander Smith was only acting on instinct, but when he saved Samantha he got more than he bargained for; a fireball that sparked a storm in him.
As they uncover the supernatural mysteries surrounding the strange town, will Samantha and Zander survive, or will they become part of it's history?
This is a fantastic story that kept me hooked from the first page. I found the characters very life like, and I could easily see them roaming the countryside looking into the paranormal world. Samantha is a very charming character, but she has a bit of a temper. Believe me, you do NOT want to make this woman angry. I love her tenacity and her stubbornness. She has a talent that allows her to see the spirits of the dead, which she sees as a curse. When she meets Zander, she has no idea how she was transported half way across the country to him.
Zander is in the military, but in a elite group that track and find ghosts and demons. This team is called S.P.I.R.I.T. which stands for Special Paranormal Investigative Research Intelligence Team. Zander is fierce and loyal, and is one gorgeous hunk! Zander also has a talent similar to Samantha, but instead of seeing spirits, he hears them. Whilst on a mission, he rescues Samantha and they both feel a connection to each other. This connection also introduces Samantha to another talent she did not know she possessed.
This story is part mystery, part romance and one terrific tale that has not star-crossed lovers, but parallel universe ones! Dawn Gray is a fantastic author, and I am now an avid fan of hers!
There are some scenes of a sensual nature, so I do not recommend this book for younger readers (below 15). However, I highly recommend that you read this book if you love anything to do with the paranormal/mystery/romance genres.

What a pleasant surprise awaited me, the book is fast paced, filled with two amazing characters, Samantha and Zander. Both of them get to be known by the reader as fully fledged characters. Zander a military man is part of an elite group. Sam, a woman with some amazing memories and abilities is instantly attracted to Zander. Truth be told, so was I. This is a man’s man. No sparkly stuff, no effeminate manners. If I have any critique, it would be that Sam has one or two fainting spells to many. But, again, if I were her, I would have run off, got into the cupboard and started to pray that when I wake up, all the things that go bump in the night is gone.
For those who like romance, you will love this book.
For those who like action, you will adore this book.
For those who like hot bedroom, shower and ... well i'll not be spilling to many beans ....scenes, you will fall in love with this story.
For those who like paranormal, this will put the goose in your bumps.

This book is filled with paranormal. But it is explained. It is delved into, questioned and reasoned out to the point where the characters can’t explain more. So the paranormal aspect reads logically and naturally. For me, this in and of itself would have awarded the book a 5 * review. The fact that this is not all that is impressive regarding this book I feel free to give it a resounding 7 * review. Go get. You want to, trust me.
For those who like romance, you will love this book.
For those who like action, you will adore this book.

Wow!
This is the word that comes to mind when I think of Dawn Gray's Fire Storm. The story "literally" explodes onto the scene. Literally. It explodes. And I really, really enjoyed that. I enjoyed being thrown into the action. I was Samantha. I was confused, I was lost, I was cold, and I was afraid.
This made me identify with Samantha in many ways, and it's important to feel a connection to the main character.
On that note, the romance in the book moved a little fast for me at first. It was instant attraction. And, to begin with, I was slightly thrown off by that despite Zander's serious hotness. I was slighty confused by this, but I was also strangely drawn in. I wanted to know why. Why did she let him kiss her? Why are they suddebly almost a couple? There honestly seemed a reason, and this kept me reading. I'm really glad it did. Because suddenly, the romance made sense.
The further into the book I got, Zander and Samantha's instant attraction was explained, and I began to fall for them as a couple.
The book was unique, the story was fast paced, the romance was hot and emotional, and I found myself absorbed in the complex emotions and situations Samantha finds herself in. And I can honestly say this is the first book I've read with some of the paranornal twists it had in it. You'll have to read to find out what;)
All in all, this book gets 4.5 stars from me.

Sam magically appears in her home town and land in the arms of Zander who is a SPIRIT team member. SPIRIT is the guys you call when things go bump in the night. She has no idea what's going on or why she can feel Zander. Soon she discovers that she is in another world that looks identical like her own. But in this world there is a demon chasing her and Zander and wants them to go away. They soon discover why the demon wants them gone, and start fighting back to put things the way they were supposed to be. Oh wow I loved Zander and Sam. Instantly the two are drawn to each other and sparks fly. Sam doesn't let the bossy captain and his team messes with her and Zander has to bail her out of trouble. Dawn made this an epic journey. Suspense at what's going to happen and be revealed next was around every corner. Well-deserved five stars.

Looking for a hot and steamy book for GROWN-UPS that has a paranormal spin to it? Look no further!
As a fan of fantasy reads, I find myself spending a great deal of time in the young adult genre. But one can only take so much teenage angst before one wants to stab one's self in the eye with a spork. Dawn Gray's S.P.I.R.I.T. was a great way to break out of the mold! Gray meshes the paranormal and real world elements with a flair for realism and detail. Plus those love scenes had me fanning myself and clutching my pearls!
If you liked Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse books you'll love S.P.I.R.I.T.!

I desperately wanted to love this book. Fire Storm by Dawn Gray has a terrific plot, very imaginative. Unfortunately, the application wasn't up there, for me. It felt repetitive in places, and left gaping holes in others. I know, it's fiction, it isn't all supposed to be believable. I also dropped a star for editing. I did really enjoy the ending, though. Right where I wanted these two main characters to be.

I LOVE the SPIRIT Series by Dawn Gray. How cool would it be to be a member of a elite military paranormal team? Sign me up.
This series has all the elements I need; paranormal activity, vengeful ghoul, bad ass military weapons, and a hot guy. Swoon. Be still my paranormal beating heart!

The idea of twin towns and people were interesting and I loved that both sets of MC's belonged together. The writing itself though was awful. There were too many unanswered questions and jumping to scenes that didn't make sense. For example, Zander's captain puts the couple into a cave without them knowing. So how did they knock them out? Drugs? Can't be because they weren't feeling any lasting effects. And then the captain doesn't even explain why he put them there. It was just speculation on the couple's part. We don't get a good description of Sam nor of Zander or of his unit. There are a couple of scenes where the guys stare at Sam. One of them involved staring at her ass. The others didn't again specify. Then Sam becomes outraged. I don't get it. Were they ogling at her chest? Were they leering at her? Did they just think she was good looking? The word stare doesn't do much for description for me. There wasn't even much interaction between Sam and Zander's unit. Did they not talk to each other? Get to know each other because you would think that there would be a sense of brotherhood between Zander and his unit and they would want to get to know his lady love.
Then was the love story. They met, they went to the trailer, Sam walked out of the trailer and then they kissed....???!!!! So because they kissed they belonged together? Would anyone just kiss a stranger after realizing that they are in a strange place and seeing a building on fire? The first time they had sex was on the ground outside. Wouldn't you think that would be uncomfortable for your butt. The issue of unprotected sex never came up. The epilogue was full of holes. I get that they had a baby on the way but where did Zander worked after? The police force? Again just speculation but would his job require him to be out of town to catch bad guys like the epilogue suggested? I'm going to assume they got married even though there was no mention of a ring or ceremony. Must be just me but I don't like books where it requires me to do a lot of speculating as to what happened. And the next book doesn't even feature the same characters so it must be a plot thing.
The one thing I did like was the couple's counterparts. It was saddening that the other Zander was just waiting to be reunited to his Sam.

The Review
Wow, I don’t read ghost stories, as I usually read at night and Yes, I am scaredy cat and would never sleep, but I started this during the day and finished later that day, as it was such a great story, I could not put it down, I just didn’t want to, I loved the way it was written and yes I loved the romance, I know it was quick romance between Zander and Samantha but hey it only added to the story, as they, Oh I don’t want to give too much away, so I will stop right there, I loved how Dawn got you so involved with the story, I loved the idea and the concept of the S.P.I.R.I.T series, I am saying series, I hope it will be one, I would love for the rest of the group to get love interests, and maybe get some powers too, I loved the powers, storm and fire together are a wicked combination, I loved the telepathy between Zander and Samantha, I also loved how Sam was kick ass and was not scared by the bad ghouls or mostly by Zanders boss Everett, she always came back with a classic line to shut him up, as best as she could Thankyou Dawn for letting me read this book, let me know when the next one is out, Please, 4/5

When Sam wakes up one day not knowing where she is, she feels confused and worried, and once Zander and his team arrive to ‘help’, things only become more mystifying. Zander is part of a paranormal ‘special forces’ group and it soon becomes clear that there are things happening that are way out of the control of any ordinary human being.
I found this story kind of disjointed, the information at the beginning was a little sketchy and didn’t indicate that Sam had any special powers. It was quite far into the story before we were given this knowledge. At first we were led to believe that she had no idea what was going on, that everything happening had only just begun… but as the facts seep in we discover that she was aware of the ‘ghosts’ and had been experiencing/interacting with them since childhood. When we found out that there were two identical places with the same people, living the same parallel lives, the how’s and why’s were never really explained so by the end of the story I was left with more questions than answers.
I didn’t quite understand why there were ‘doppelgangers’ of sorts and where exactly this other town was situated. Was it an alternate universe? If so how did Sam and Zander pass from one to the other? At the end was Sam living back in her town or in the copy town? It was just a little messed up for me.
The idea for the story is original and quite interesting, but the specifics are not comprehensive enough to give the reader full understanding, and a clear sense of the history behind everything. I think sometimes writers know their stories and characters so well that they forget that we; as the readers, only know what we are told about them!
I am not completely down on this book it has some up sides, the writing is comfortable and there are scenes in the book that are very visual. I like the uniqueness of the plot and the depth of some of the characters. In the copy I read I found no obvious editing issues and the vocabulary was varied enough to not be boring. Would I read more work by this author? Definitely! Would I read more in this series? Without doubt.

Wow, ok so let me say I did not know starting out that this was a ghost story. I did not read anything about it, prior to reading it. It was part of a book club choice with author I adore. SO I WENT with it!!!
I am so glad I am in the book club. I really enjoyed the book, even though the ghosts scared me. LOL!
This book has a bit of everything romance, CHECK! Action, CHECK! Paranormal, CHECK!... I could keep going here.
I was at first a bit confused by all of it, and then I got into the main characters head. I realized I was confused, because she was confused. It was perfect. I had gotten so wrapped up into her mind and what was going on��� once it clicked. It was a big AH HA moment! Perfect!!!Samantha was a fire ball and had a past that would scare Reagan from the exorcist. Zander was all man and protective of her. This story had me on my toes. I had so many things going on and my brain was working overtime to figure out the mystery.
Samantha went to bed and ended up half way across the country, only be saved from a fire by Zander. Who was handsome and well she was drawn to him. He was drawn to her. Why are they so drawn to one another? Why is Zander unable to control his emotions around her, and why are they tied to her? This was a quick, see you and have to have you romance. Which worked, once you find out the reasons behind this attraction? It all makes sense. (You will need to read the book ��� )
The story line of this book is great, it was fresh and exciting. It kept me on my toes, and wanting more. I love the past and present spin. I enjoyed Dawn���s writing style. I found myself immersed in this world she created and really I hope she is turning this into a series. I think she tied up all the endings nicely and I do not feel cheated here but I would love to read more about this couple and the team. I am excited to see where Dawn takes us next.

I am so glad I am in the book club. I really enjoyed the book, even though the ghosts scared me. LOL!
This book has a bit of everything romance, CHECK! Action, CHECK! Paranormal, CHECK!... I could keep going here.
I was at first a bit confused by all of it, and then I got into the main characters head. I realized I was confused, because she was confused. It was perfect. I had gotten so wrapped up into her mind and what was going on��� once it clicked. It was a big AH HA moment! Perfect!!!Samantha was a fire ball and had a past that would scare Reagan from the exorcist. Zander was all man and protective of her. This story had me on my toes. I had so many things going on and my brain was working overtime to figure out the mystery.
Samantha went to bed and ended up half way across the country, only be saved from a fire by Zander. Who was handsome and well she was drawn to him. He was drawn to her. Why are they so drawn to one another? Why is Zander unable to control his emotions around her, and why are they tied to her? This was a quick, see you and have to have you romance. Which worked, once you find out the reasons behind this attraction? It all makes sense. (You will need to read the book ��� )

S.P.I.R.I.T. Firestorm starts with a bang and a fire, and the fireworks theme continues throughout the book. Samantha, the main character, finds herself dressed in strange clothes, standing near a church which is on fire and the last thing she can remember is that she went to bed hundreds of miles from where she is now. Rescued from being trampled by panicked church goers by a handsome stranger, she is further dismayed to find that this town is a perfect replica of the town she grew up in. When she discovers that, not only is the town similar, but also the house she grew up in and the people living there, she actually takes it with a calm I certainly would not have felt.
The immediate and extremely electrically charged fiery attraction between Samantha and Zander causes electrical disruptions and small fires to start whenever they get emotional or passionate. Think Fire Starter in a really hot romantic relationship! Then there is the military ghost-hunting group to which Zander belongs who don't quite know whether to see him and Sam, with their extraordinary powers, as an asset or a danger.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed this action-filled book, I found that the frequent romantic interludes between the main characters interfered with my concentration - a concentration which I needed to keep track of all the doubles in people, scenery and circumstances. The characters were well-defined and easy to grow fond of; from the two main characters to the Military leader who conveniently always arrived just after the action had passed. The well-constructed plot and continuous forward motion of the story kept me turning the pages and I found that the story had a bit of a lesson for those of us who still have ghosts to lay to rest or demons to face.

There are even some thoroughly scary scenes in the story which you may not want to read after dark. This was just an extremely sexy Hitchcock style Ghost story. I read this back in May of 2012 and with the re-pub with the new cover I thought I’d update my review as well.
Samantha Ricketts finds herself inside a dream, or so she thought. Waking up in a strange place wearing odd clothing and then stumbling across an insanely hot man that you have an instant, electric chemistry with should be a dream. She has no idea where she is or why, but Zander Smith is determined to protect her and help her figure it out. Sam is a fireball with a unique gift, and Zander is a tough as nails black ops kind of guy who has no qualms about helping her put out that fire.
As events unfold the pair learn they are destined to be together, soul mates so to speak. They are actually living on a fault line of sorts that separates their reality with another, and the line between these two realities is blurred. In one reality the lovers are separated by death, but in this reality they might just be able to escape fate. Sam, Zander and his team of Ghost hunters go up against some pretty malevolent spirits in an attempt to uncover the reason for the nightmares and visions that have plagued Sam her entire life.
This book was equal parts sexy and scary. The story reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock via The Twilight Zone with lots of hot, steamy sex as the glue that held everything together. From the first page you really hit the ground running. Action, suspense and intrigue are around every corner; and the twist with the parallel life that weaves around their current one was very unique and fresh. If you’re looking for something juicy to sink your teeth into that has an engrossing story wrapped around the passion that is Sam and Zander, I highly recommend this read to you.
I would not, however, suggest that you read in the dark. Be sure ALL the lights are on and the doors are locked.

Firstly this book is such a yummy bowl of 9 layer dip! Theres sooo much going on its one thing after another after another.. Theres a little of everything.. Ghosts.. Ghouls.. Romance.. Multi dimensions.. Action.. Telepathy.. Super Powers.. Laughs.. Death.. To be honest im probably leaving something out..
The book starts with a bang literally Samantha Rickketts wakes up and has no idea how she got to where she is.. The last thing she remembers is going to bed.. now shes standing on a hilltop wearing someone else clothes.. Suddenly the church behind her explodes then she meets Zander Smith.. Zander cant figure out what Sam is doing there he ushers her to safety! Once safe Zander questions how she can see him.. and to that i say WTFT (what the french toast) is he a ghost? Well now hes a ghostbuster! well no exactly this is far to complicated for me to explain so read the damn book ;)..
Sparks fly far too quickly for my liking.. They went from strangers to make out buddies in 5! pages.. Other than that i LOVED! Their very sexy relationship.. I often times caught myself blushing i honestly didnt blush this much reading 50 shades of gray.. This books is definitely more than their sex life though..
Shortly after meeting Sam helps Zander and his S.P.I.R.I.T team.. While trying to figure out how she got there and what her connection to Zander means.. They are able to speak to each other telepathically.. they both have super powers HEY! HEY! They discover they share a past in more ways than one.. Turns outs the ghoul Zander was after is yet another connection between the two..
I mean I really wasnt expecting 85% of what Gray put out there for me.. Some parts took a little longer for me to comprehend.. but once i did things were golden.. Now the ending was quite interesting and im very curious to see what comes next for the spirit team...

Samantha Ricketts have been hearing the dead since childhood. In an attempt to escape them she moves far away and never returns home. That is until she finds herself standing in the town in front of the church without an idea how she got there.
She runs into Zander Smith and discovers SPIRIT a team that investigates paranormal activities and stop evil. She and Zander have an instant connection and find out that they both holds powers that can’t be explained. The more she is dragged into this world, the more she finds out how her demon came to be, what Zander is to her but also a paranormal world mirroring her own. It’s up to them to solve her others death and send the demon back to hell.
Sam is a strong woman and she doesn’t take crap from anybody. Her character takes the lead in this search, and thou scared she gets the job done and starts figuring out things. Zander’s character was the perfect soul mate. His doesn’t think twice about his connection with Sam and grabs hold of it. I liked his protective nature and sharp personality.
Although it takes some time to start figuring out what’s going on, SPIRIT was an interesting read. I liked the idea of the story line and how things started to piece together. At one point I was dreading the outcome. But save to say they save the day, for now that is. Dawn’s writing is easy to read, and well written. I can’t wait to see what follow next, and how the story will continue.

This story really starts off kind of disjointed and I was trying to figure out if I was reading a romance novel of a paranormal Sci-FY as the two main characters basically just meet and are intimate literally in the first chapter. But then the story starts to unfold and we find the characters have a linked past that they aren't even aware of until memories are triggered. As you read on, the story really takes shape and you realize you can't put it down as you must know what happens next and how is the Author going to tie it all together!
This is really a Paranormal adventure that is based on both the past and present in a small town in Colorado that is a twin in every way shape and form to a town in Vermont.. that just happens to be where Samantha, the main character, is from. She meets Zander Smith, who is part of a secret military unit that happens to be in this town investigating paranormal activity. They are literally thrown together and sparks fly instantly! From caves to missing persons, Sam, Zander and his team of S.P.I.R.I.T. investigators team up to solve a mystery that started back when Sam was a child in Vermont. It has a lot of action and even brings in a bit of Native American Indian Lore and Demon Possession which adds its own twist to the story.
This story has it all, romance, paranormal activity, special powers, demonic presence, parallel lives, and a bit of mystery and intrigue to boot. A surprising end keeps you looking for more... bring on book 2!

Review for S.P.I.R.I.T Fire Storm by Dawn Gray
I bought this book from the author herself. She even signed it for me! I was so anxious to read this book, I always am when an real life author signs their book then sends it to me, who wouldnt want to read it? This author is an amazing author and friend, and I am honored to read her book.
Samantha was put in a town with out knowledge on how she got there. She can remember everything else about her life except of that town and how she got there. But when her life is in danger she is saved but a very handsome Zander. There are two universes and in one they are together by love and death and they brought the two universes together. They have an romantic and thrilling ride together.
This book was a big WOW. It was exciting and on some parts had me on the edge of my seat. Im not big on romance books either but when Dawn Gray combines supernatural (my favorite subject) and romance together it was right up my alley. I couldnt have had ask for a better book from the author.
I give it 5 out of 5 stars! Of course I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I've been a fan of Dawn Gray since reading and reviewing her Vampire Legacy series. So I was more than excited to purchase, not be given, a copy of S.P.I.R.I.T.: Fire Storm. And I'm happy I did. This story has more romance than the Vampire Legacy series but more than enough paranormal to make it not just a "romance".
S.P.I.R.I.T. stands for Special Paranormal Investigative Research Intelligence Team. Zander Smith is a member of this team and, thankfully, is on a scene when Samantha Ricketts wakes up half dressed, in a town halfway across the country. How did she get there? That question quickly gets pushed to the side when the church she is standing in front of explodes.
Zander and Sam, from the first meeting, have a connection that goes deep. How can she feel this way after just meeting Zander. Or is it the first meeting? Zander and Sam are on a race against time, and many things paranormal, to figure out their connection and the bad spirits it has created. To find out why they've ended up in a town a replica of the town Sam grew up in, and ran away from to avoid her scary past. And to find out why this one strong spirit has it's eyes on Sam.
Sam can control fire and see spirits. Zander can control electricity and hear spirits. What ensues is a hot time. Some of the love scenes were hot enough to catch the wastebasket on fire! The S.P.I.R.I.T. team is entertaining in themselves, and I look forward to some more of their stories!

Sam Ricketts wakes from one of the worst nightmares of her life only to see it isn't a nightmare. She has some how teleported herself to a town that is the mirror image of he hometown. The same hometown that she fled from years earlier dur to the hauntings and nightmares. Standing in a field watching a church on fire, Sam is swept off her feet by a handsome stranger.
Xander and Sam soon realize that theie meeting was no accident. In fact, the two of them soon find they cannot stand to be separated for any amount of time. He eases the fire in her eyes while she balances the storm inside of him. Now they must figure out how to unravel the questions surrounding their past to ensure they have a future together.
I have to say this storyline is way out of thr normal which is wonderful. Sam and Xander have a very very passionate love. I love the soulmate draw they have for one another. The author really places you in the novel itself with eerily discriptions. Her words paint vivid mind pictures that flow easily telling the story. She alsio tied all the loose ends up at the end so the reader walks away satisfied but still curious about the future dealings of these two !!!!! More than I ever expected. Cant wait for book 2!!!!!

I fell in love with this book. More specifically with Samantha (Sam) and her hilarious attitude. She had me laughing throughout the entire story, and I couldn't wait to read what smart-aleck thing she'd say next. On top of that, the relationship between her and Zander is just awesome. They're so cute it's almost sickening, but in a good way, and the fact that they really do complete one another is just amazing. And let's not forget the burning trash can..... =)
Aside from the above, the story itself really grabbed me and never let go. It was so intriguing, and I just wanted to keep reading all the time (but wouldn't you know, life had to go and get in the way). I would think about this book while I was at work, driving, and I even had a dream about it, that's how good it is!!! The beginning just pulls you in, because you really have no clue whatsoever as to what's going on, and neither do the characters. You just learn along with them, which is so much fun to do. And the twists and turns the story takes were so great, I'd keep saying "One more chapter" only to find a cliffhanger waiting at the end, and I'd have to keep reading to see what happened!
I definitely recommend this for everybody who likes paranormal stories, especially mysteries, because this one has a lot of it. Go grab your copy, you won't be sorry!!! =)

I definitely recommend this for everybody who likes paranormal stories, especially mysteries, because this one has a lot of it. Go grab your copy, you won't be sorry!!! =)

I am glad I read this book around the Halloween season, it had all the elements of a good thriller, plus some hot and steamy romance to liven things up a bit!
The story starts by putting the reader in the middle of the action, beginning with a bang and moving a long at a pretty good pace from there. Sam has been experiencing the paranormal all her life...but when she meets Zander Smith and sparks fly--literally--between them, her life reaches a whole new level of strange. Zander is a military man, part of the S.P.I.R.I.T. unit tasked with hunting down 'ghosties', or paranormal being. His hunt brings him in contact with Sam. Their connection is instantaneous, a familiarity and heat jumps up between them that neither of them can explain. What follows is a plot full of twists and turns as the two discover that their ties to each other go back farther than either could have imagined and run much deeper.
The story can seem confusing at first, but is so worth hanging in there. I for one, love a story where the big surprises are revealed slowly throughout instead of all at once. As I read and the story unfolded, I understood the characters more and more and grew to like them. Especially Zander. Good lord, the man was hot!
All in all, a great read for those who like it hot, with an interesting twist on the Paranormal.

Other than the name I knew nothing of this book when I started reading it. I had picked it up as part of the publishers read and review book club. And I'm glad that I did.
Now maybe I have been stuck in the YA paranormal world for a little too long, but I assumed this was also a YA novel... oh I was wrong. This is definitely for adults which i discovered fairly quickly.
The story centres around Sam and Zander. One minute Sam is stood in her bedroom the next she is outside a church hundreds of miles away from home about to be trampled by a group of people fleeing a the burning building but rescued by Zander, who works for the military in the paranormal field. Who then tries to help her work out what happened to her.
The first couple chapters are a little confusing as there is very little back story, so you are not always aware of what's happening, but you are soon brought up to speed with your feet on the ground and running.... because this story does not let up. Yes there are a few moments when they are not out on the job and are tucked up inside 'exploring each other', but when they are working the story just motors along and drags the reader along with it. There is no putting this book down.

The first word that comes to mind when I think about this book is...addictive. I was hooked by so many things; the romance, the paranormal, the action, the plot...need I go on?
I loved the fact that Dawn went her own way with the pace, that's the beauty of a book...you don't have to write what is deemed 'normal'. To me Sam and Zander's relationship kicked off just as it should. I thought the instant connection they shared was beautiful. It was as if they didn't have a choice...not that they wanted one. They couldn't stand to be parted and couldn't keep their hands off of each other.
Which brings me to the 'grown-up' scenes, -ahem-, their passion could produce flames...literally!!
I felt the confusion Sam suffers in the beginning transfered to the reader (me) and I found it exciting. Dawn wasn't giving me anything for free, I had to READ for it!! The connection of the past and present gave the story even more depth. It was well written and with incredible detail that made it SO easy to imagine. The characters were relatable and the general concept was original.

When Samantha Rickets suddenly finds herself in the middle of an unknown town, when she was in bed a few moments ago, she ends up in the arms of Zander. He is a military man under a special task force dealing with the paranormal. Chasing ghosts and demons, Sam is soon dragged into the fight.
You quickly realise that there is a special bond between them and they tap into their own powers and uncover a mystery that has been pulling them towards each other for years.
Dawn Gray has a lovely style of writing; it is fast paced and never slows down. You are thrown straight into the story and it slowly unfolds before you in lovely descriptive tones. The adult content is well written without being crude and I really enjoyed the read. The main characters are well developed and I wanted to know how it would end for them.
There are questions that I feel were never answered, such as the identical town, had they been drawn into a parallel universe, were there now two sets of parents but it did not distract me enough not to want to know what happens next.

The characters are really well written and Sam and Zander's relationship is literally smoking hot.
I love the way the story just jumps right in and had me guessing from the very first page trying to figure out what was going on. This book definitely kept my curiosity piqued, I love a book that draws me in and submerges me in the story and just keeps me turning page after page. The story was action right from the start which I love, sometimes a slow start can be the death of a book no matter how great the story might be, and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read such a fantastic book.
I love the camaraderie between the soldiers, and the real cheeky way they seem to interact with each other, and being a big fan of all things Native American, I love how they featured in the story.
I am hoping there will be more to the story as I loved reading it and would definitely read any future installments that Sam and Zander share.

This book was an awesome read! I normally get a book that has a cover that draws me in. I received this ebook free for an honest review. I was excitingly surprised of what a great story it was. This book has action, suspense, paranormal all wrapped in an amazing book. I was immediately drawn into the book and couldn't put it down. I read this story in a day, which is amazing, since it usually takes me a couple days. This is a very fast read that leaves you wanting more from Sam and Zander!!

Sam doesn't remember how she gets to this unknown town to her and Zander is inclined to help. Through a series of different events, Sam and Zander find out how she got there and this pull they have to each other. They also encounter paranormal things along the way. I give this book a four star review!!

This book just didn't do it for me. It seemed to have pretty good reviews and I loved the concept so I thought it would be a good read, but it really came down to the writing on this one. The plot was really jumpy and hard to follow and the author made assumptions that the reader understood concepts that were never properly explained or developed in the book. I felt like the entire time I was reading this I was missing key information which would help me understand the plot better, like this was really a series and I'd picked up the 2nd book or something, but my understanding is it is a stand alone book. Overall, when this was done I just felt unfulfilled, the general concept had a lot of potential and I would've gladly read this book if it was twice as long if it helped the author bring some descriptive narrative to a few more areas. It really just felt like I was reading an unfinished work or a rough draft.

First I have to say “WHOA”!!! Author Dawn Gray, has truly blown my mind with her out of the gate action, sensuality and mysterious awe of her novel “S.P.I.R.I.T. Fire Storm”…… I am truly in love with solidifying bond through the interactions and dynamics of the main character’s “Sam and Zander”….. The on the edge suspense, plot line and the ongoing mystery of Sam…..
I felt as though I was In the middle of “the fantastic four” and “x-men”, with a side order of “I am number four”….. The surprises, that kept me reading on. I was enthralled from the very beginning of the first chapter, to the last page of the ending chapter….. I will read this over and over again…. Hoping that it comes in print copy, so that I may add it to my library…. An Absolute Must Read!!!!
