The Baddest Chick Motto: Your time at the top is short-lived. Enjoy it while you can.

Kola, the reigning Queen of New York, has Harlem on lock and is making paper hand over fist. If the stresses of hustling hard weren't enough, the love of her life is mixed up with a Brooklyn chick, a bounty has been put on her head for a hit she didn't sanction, and her sister's ex-man, Chico, is trying to rock her to sleep. Kola has 99 problems, but Apple ain't one.

Apple, gone but not forgotten while trapped in a Mexican hellhole, is still the most hated chick in New York. She's low on friends and can't seem to climb back up on her pedestal. With revenge in her heart and murder on her mind, Apple attempts to overcome her situation just in time to reclaim her title as The Baddest Chick the world has ever seen.

Nisa Santiago came bursting onto the literary scene in 2009 with her debut title, Cartier Cartel. The book garnered rave reviews and left her readers wanting more. She followed up with the sequel, Return of the Cartier Cartel – which turned into a national bestseller. The Library Journal declared that Santiago’s sequel, [Return of the Cartier Cartel] “Will keep readers hooked to the last chapter.”

Born and raised in Brooklyn, and now living in Harlem, the author is moving at full speed with her writing endeavors. Coined the Duchess of Hop-Hip lit, Santiago humbly admits, “I’m just grateful to be doing what I love as a career and not just a hobby.”

Her latest novel, Bad Apple – The Baddest Chick is slated for an October 2011 release date. The author emphatically states that her decision to start a new series instead of penning part 3 to Cartier Cartel was a brave one. “My readers love Cartier and they wanted more.” Santiago wants her readers to know that she has so many stories to tell and shows no signs of slowing down. Dirty Money Honey is an anthology with her peers, Erica Hilton and Kim K., Melodrama Publishing’s new trinity of authors.

Checkmate picks up with all the drama that Coca Kola left us with. Apple is trapped in the whorehouse waiting on Chico to hopefully rescue her, while being degraded more and more by the day. Even though I didn't like Apple you couldn't help but to feel sorry for her, with all that she was going through. Kola is still hurting from Cross's betrayal, but still flooding the streets with product. Eduardo (Kola's supplier) is still trying his best to get her to be his woman. Edge was up to his usual antics trying to get at Kola and trying to turn Cross against her as well. We are introduced to some new characters like Two-Face and he definitely lives up to his name. And Denise, the twins mother, is still up to no good and getting on everyone's nerves. There is still a war going on between Chico and Kola, but while Chico constantly thinks of Apple, Kola could care less. Kola's enemies are stacking up by the day, while Apple is still plotting her revenge. Will Apple make it out of the whorehouse? Will Kola lose the war against Chico? I read this book in one sitting and I wasn't ready for it to end. People are slipping and getting careless and I can't wait to see who will finally claim the throne. If you liked Bad Apple and Coca Kola then you will love this one.

Man there was a lot going on in this installment! Kola took Edge out the game and Cross is in jail and Eduardo is out for revenge cause he thinks she hit his spot. Kola leaves town to regroup and find another connect. Turns out Cross was listening to Edge's lies and got jealous. It comes out that Edge was snitches so Cross is really in a bind that he may not come out of.

Apple was rescued from the brothel by an unlikely source from the past and she returns looking like her old self.

Chico wasn't able to find Apple so he finally gave up and him and Blythe are now official. Since Cross is in jail and he has a legit connect he is now the man about town. However Apple shows up and crashes Blythes party looking like her old self. Chico is at a loss for words however Apple is like I am back CHECKMATE nigga! lol Chico also had to take out his enforcer Two Face but he knew it was coming.

There is only room for one top dog so lets see who comes out on top, this should be good

Book 3 of The Baddest Chick series picks up with Apple in Mexico, as a sex slave. She never loses hope that Chico will find her and bring her home. Half of her dream comes to fruition, and Apple is right back to seeking revenge in the streets of New York.

Meanwhile, her twin sister Kola, is making a name for herself in Miami, the city she fled to, after being ambushed. Little does she know, trouble can follow you everywhere you go!

Denise, their mother, is still holding it down in Harlem, and would like nothing more than to see her girls back together. But I’m just wondering, where is she getting her information from.

I’m still on a high from this 💎💎💎💎💎series, and I still have four books to go! This author @nisa_santiago, has certainly caught my attention, and I don’t plan to go anywhere.

Hmmmmm...I can't quite decide if I'm happy with this book or if I'm disappointed. I think I'll just straddle the fence. I don't want to spoil it for those who have not read it, so I will just say that as always Nisa Santiago has delivered, but I don't think it was (or any of the books to follow) will meet the standards set by Bad Apple. I think the storyline was brilliant, but there were some aspects of it that just don't sit well with me, that I think should have been addressed. Stop reading now if you haven't read the book because I can't review it without spoiling a little.
For example, Apple was basically force fed heroin, yet it was never addressed that she had any addiction issues or rehab needs. She also had her child taken away from her, yet when she was financially capable, she made no efforts to locate the child. Instead she focused on plastic surgeries, sex, and revenge on Chico. I know you may say that's typical Apple, but wait until you read how she reacts to the baby after she gives birth. And again as with book 2, how is it that Chico had this connection to a guy who could find Apple and he waited months and months before sending him to find her. I could go on and on about Apple, but there are more characters, such as Kola. She's still on top of her game, but she played with fire and got caught up with Cross and their connect. She never had sex with him, but with the way things turned out she should have. Cross played her, she lost her entire crew, and was basically ran out of "her city." All in all, another hit from nisa, just not as hard as the others before it.

Okay so this may be a trend: a plot full of twists and turns. I’m trying to make sure I keep up. Cross is locked up. Eduardo has vanished thinking Kola set him up. Guy Tony rescued Apple from Shaun and they are doing it big in Dallas Tx. Kola and her cousin Nikki are doing it big in MIA with the help of a guy named OMG. Chico is in Harlem with his new Queen, Blythe, but Apple just let him know that she back!

So far Supreme is dead (killed by Guy Tony)

Edge(Cross friend) is dead (killed by Kola)

Two Face is dead (killed by Chico). His dad Roman may want revenge on Chico for that.

This one felt like a filler. Apple's abuse was a bit too much even for me lol but I guess what I like about this series is that things actually happen to the heroines. I was glad she's on top again at the end tho and her face is miraculously fixed LMAO . The blowout between Cross and Kola was cool. I wonder if Eduardo is gonna come back and hunt Kola or sth.

This was DOPENESS at its finest! I am reminded of the old adage ... " Watch how you treat people on the way up the ladder, because you will see those same people on the way down! "

This was the best by far. When Apple went missing all hell broke out
.There was so many twist a d turns. My heart broke when Shaun did all that to Apple that and took her most precious commodity. They thought they had Apple she about to show them why the call her The Baddest Bitch

Back Against The Wall

In Checkmate readers find twins Apple and Kola still fighting but surprisingly not with one another. Apple is trapped in Mexico fighting for her life while Kola remains in New York fighting to maintain her reign on top. In this installment Kola is definitely the HBIC but it might be short lived as she's unsuspectedly ensnared into a war with her supplier. Kola is struggling to remain on top while Apple is desperate to reclaim her place on top.

With their backs against the wall readers will see just what each sister is made of. The malice in her heart against her enemies is the only thing helping Apple to survive her deplorable conditions. That and the faith that her knight in armor Chico will come to her rescue. To the outside world it may appear that Chico has moved on but he's still hell bent on finding Apple. Although Apple was ruthless in part one I wouldn't wish her circumstances in part three on my worst enemy. Kola is still reeling from Cross' betrayal and hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Ironically its Cross whose feeling betrayed especially when he swayed by Edge's influence. When the body count begins to rise Kola may have to regroup and formulate a new plan of attack.

Although parts two and three were not as enthralling as part one author Nisa Santiago still manages to keep readers invested in the Apple versus Kola saga. Hopefully the culmination in the final installment will be just as satisfying as its onset was in the first installment.

I'll have to go back and skim the others since I picked this one up not knowing that there were more (before and obviously to follow), but I was pleasantly surprised at the action, albeit repetitive. Though some of the scenes are heartbreaking and raw, including most of Apple's existence in a brothel in Mexico that is entirely too realistic and would make anyone want to vomit. But, Apple wants to fight through this to get to a place where she can retaliate.

Has all of the pieces with plenty of sex, violence, retribution, guns, and fashion.

So the saga continues lots of drama and gun play....I kinda feel sorry for Apple. All the misunderstandings that have her jumping through hoops to get her life back together. Everybody has turned there backs on her or at least that's how she feels. I take pity on Chico cause he tried hard to find her. Now Guy Tony I ain't trusting that dude at all I need to know his true intentions so that means I have to read Face Off right. LOL Here I go...Good read Author Santiago.

Excellent! Excellent! My, my, my! Coca Kola, you go girl. I feel sorry for Cross, he really fell victim to his best friend, Edge but, Kola took care of Edge. Cross Dodgers Kola wrong and she never forgave him. Poor Apple was finally found and had her face restored. She's ready to reign again.Watch out for your twin Kola.

Some people might say that this book was a little slow and too drawn out! But not me see I started reading the series last week and I have all the books at once and when I say Nisa is the definition of a Real Writer, I really mean that. This series will take you on a roller coaster ride with these sisters and their lovers and the lives they choose to live.

Not one of my favorite. Her language was repetitive, and that's my pet peeve when it comes to reading. It kinda switched from a decent place to like what is really going on--and not in a good way! But I will say what saved it at the end got me wanting to read the next one definitely :)

Another excellent read! This 3rd part of the twins corrupt behaviors was just as good as the first 2 books. Between the betrayals and the rescues these sisters continue to rise to the top. Looking forward to reading the next book!
