After graduating from Hull University (North Humberside, UK), I went on to do a Ph.D. at Cardiff University where I studied endocrinology in fish. After working as a research associate at Cardiff University I decided I wanted to be a teacher, so went back to University (this time Birmingham) to study for a teaching certificate.

My first teaching job took me to Tenerife, Spain where I met my wife to be. After a spell of teaching in Madrid, we went back to Tenerife. Two kids later, we now live in North Wales.

On a day to day basis, I write "How To" books and courses related to websites, SEO and other topics of interest to anyone running a website.

I was disappointed in this book. It wasn't really a book per se, more of a booklet. It looked new and inviting but at the end of the day just included information you can find for free on the internet. There are other books on Wordpress that cater to the beginner that I have found to be more informative and valuable.

I’m a technophobe at heart, especially where anything to do with IT is concerned. I suspect that the main reason for this is that, lacking any instinctive understanding, I need a detailed instruction manual to help me get to grips with anything that is new to me – and the geeks who are capable of understanding these things seem incapable of writing the sort of manual that I need.
So it was both a relief and a pleasure to find this guide. It starts at the very beginning of website creation with advice on hosting and domain name registration, and then goes through the process of creating a website/blog using Wordpress. It does it painstakingly, step-by-step, with screenshots of every stage.
It has convinced even me that I am capable of creating an attractive, effective site. If only all such instructional guides were this good.

This is a very easy to follow book that covers what people need to start creating content with Wordpress. I think that this book is a great start for any kind of user, although it covers just the basics I think it is a pretty good start. If you are an advanced user this book will help you set up the grounds and from there you can get more advanced resources to customise your wordpress site!

This guide gets three stars because it's kind of average and (now) somewhat outdated (although honestly this is to be expected). It was helpful but not any more so than the average Wordpress guide aimed at beginners. I did like the illustrations/images, but again, these could be updated.

I used this book as my very first look into Wordpress and it really helped me jumpstart my page. Yes, the book is a bit outdated but it's still very useful.
