I'm just learning about bead weaving and I think this is a good place to start. The author's writing is clear and concise. I think diagrams showing the weaving techniques would be incredibly helpful, words and photos don't convey enough information. More photos in the Tools section would clarify exactly what the author is trying to describe. That said, the projects are interesting and range from easy to very complicated-looking. My favorite piece is the last one in the book, Coming Up Roses Lariat.
I feel guilty writing a bad review of a beading book since I know what kind of work goes into designing and making beaded jewelry, not to mention writing the instructions, and I hate to hurt the designers' feelings. But I found only one project in this book that interested me enough to make and maybe two that were nice enough but not compelling enough to make. The rest of the pieces looked too amateurish or just not aesthetically pleasing.
A wonderful and simple guide for the beginner as well as the expert. I have made many varied and beautiful gifts with these patterns and will use them again and again. The pictures, diagrams and instructions are bright and easy to follow. I really like this book.
