Interesting

Enjoyed reading each faith and the background, origin. Interesting to read although not a guide of faith or why people believe what they believe. However this book is Interesting and informative. Thank you!

Brief Overview

This was a short overview of ANE religions. Not bad for someone who is not looking for a heavy book on AND religion.

Garbage.

Anyone who is looking for an unbiased comparison of religions should avoid this. This is not a comparative view of the different religions and their belief systems - this is a comparison of everything that is not christianity and christianity, only to say that none of them are quite as wonderful as christianity, because reasons.
No, seriously, I'd really have loved to be given a reason as to why christianity is supposedly so great. Something other than "true", "pure", "developed" and "religion of the civilized world". Something that can be understood by someone who has not stopped thinking in favour of the actual childishness that is "Because I say so, that's why!".

Looking at the historical background, I can understand how this could have been published. However, that doesn't change nor excuse the extreme arrogance of Scholten, to call every religion that is closer to nature than christianity "childish" and "fetichism". I wanted to stab my eyes as I read that garbage. This work is heavily intolerant, arrogant, presumptuous, self-centered, unscientific and just not worth any money spent on it.
Anyone who wants to read a scientific comparison of religions should avoid this work like the plague. Same goes for everyone who is opposed to ultra-hardcore christian self-centeredness, as that is so present in here that I considered swallowing cyanide only to escape it.
But then, I wouldn't be able to rant about this trash, so fuck you, cyanide.

Its only an essay

it is informative, yet lacks much detail... also it's missing the great conclusion of you are either doing, our it is done.
