Hailey Baker was a normal teenager- friends, the occasional party and a great boyfriend. But that all changes one night when an accident kills her parents and leaves Hailey with a serious back injury. Seven months after the accident, Hailey has struggled to learn to walk again and is now about to start at a new school after moving in with her uncle. Determined to live a normal life, she doesn't let her injury slow her down. When she meets Blake Adams, her life changes once again- this time for the better.
Blake was the school's golden boy until he lost his sight in a freak accident two years earlier. Going through life withdrawn and miserable, he expects to remain alone for the rest of his life. But then he meets Hailey, and all his expectations are thrown to the wind.

“Since I’m blind, you shouldn’t get mad when I don’t see things other people can see.”
This book was brought to my attention from one of my GR friends. Once I read the synopsis, I was intrigued. I love stories involving damaged Heroes. I find them extra brooding and extra moody. More often than not, that hard exterior is just a cover up. Buried underneath all that lays a man who’s sensitive, caring, loyal and loving. And boy was I right.
“What if I decide to keep going the way I have been?” “Then I feel sorry for you. Life’s full of too many wonders to waste it wallowing in misery. Do you want to just exist? Or do you want to actually live?”
Our heroine, Hailey is on the hard road to recovery. She’s been through a lot in the past year. She’s lost her parents to a horrific car accident, while in the same accident leaving her brother in a coma and leaving her with a severely injured back. Depression and doubt was plaguing her, especially when her prognosis for walking again was low. However, with the help of her Uncle Liam and her brother’s best friend, Jared, she was able to overcome a lot. Though she’s not a 100%, she is able to walk, but does have bouts where she still occasionally uses a wheelchair. After the accident, she wasn’t ready to face her friends so she moved in with her Uncle and started at a new school.
He nuzzled at my neck. “I can’t change who I am.” I shivered a little as his breath tickles me. “I’ll never ask you to change who you are. Although I might try to tweak you a little bit here and there.”
Blake lost his sight about two years ago. A lot has changed since that time. He no longer wants to hang out with his friends, he’s become unapproachable and known to have a quite the temper. When he meets Hailey he was rude, harsh and just downright unfriendly. What did this girl want from him?
Hailey didn’t know what to make of Blake the first time she met him. She sensed a connection of some sort from him despite his cranky and moody disposition. It wouldn’t take long to find that out that she and Blake share a commonality. It was this commonality and empathy for each other that eventually brought them together.
He gave me a light kiss. “So you’ll be my girlfriend? “Yeah, I’ll be your girlfriend.” “You’ll probably regret it at some point.” I laughed. “You’re probably right,” I agreed teasingly.
This was story had lots of emotional moments and is very heartwarming. I really enjoyed seeing Blake’s moody exterior coming crashing down. Bailey didn’t try to change him. As a matter of fact, he was still pretty moody, but just a toned down version of him. I loved it. The pace was just right and nothing was rushed, nor was there a ton of unnecessary drama nor angst. Just an all-around good, YA story.
This is one of the OG Wattpad stories I read and loved in 9th grade. Right now, I can see the many faults this book has. I still think the story is interesting. It definitely held my attention (the writing could use some work - the character growth and dialogue especially).
5 stars from 15 y/o me 1.5 - 2 stars from 21 y/o me 😶🌫️
Edit: 19/06/2023 Don't ask me why I reread this. The rating is the same as last year.
This book started really slowly for me but the more I got into, the better it got. Its about two high school seniors, Hailey and Blake, who have had their share of drama in the lives. Blake was an athletic, well liked high school sophomore who had an accident on a dirt bike and was left blind. He has now developed a major woe is me, angry attitude toward the world since his accident.
Hailey's parents were killed and brother left in a coma from a terrible car crash. Hailey herself was wounded badly in the crash when the back windshield shattered and the glass penetrated her back leaving her severely injured. She has learned to walk again, but there are times that she is confined to a wheelchair because her legs are just not strong enough to carry her.
Hailey and Blake meet in one of her classes, and it takes awhile and a determined Hailey to open Blake up a little. Slowly she builds his trust in her and she helps him get back a lot of his self confidence and interest in life. I liked their relationship a lot. Because of what they had gone through, they both were probably more mature than typical high school seniors and I found that refreshing.
I wanted to like Love is Blind so much...for such hard subjects as blindness and physical disabilities can be, this lacked serious depth. Everything was wrapped in a pretty bow.
Hailey and Blake are sweet together but it just was just that; sweet. I needed more from this book. I wanted more.
four stars i loved the story and found the plot interesting and original. I fell in love with Hailey and Blake from the very beginning even when there was a time that i wanted to hit him he always manege to make me go 'Aww!'
Not very well written. At times the writing style feels almost like a high school student is only doing this to get a completion grade for an assignment in class.
Dialogue is also pretty boring a lot of the time. Lots of "It's nice that [name] did [something nice]" "Yeah, I [like that too]", over and over again.
Even the "banter" is pretty lacking. "You're weird" "Yeah, but you love me" "Shut up!" x50
I had a more detailed idea of what I'd be including in my review as I was nearing the end of the novel but the epilogue absolutely killed me off and made me forget it all because all I feel now is just even more unexplainable disappointment
Why is the epilogue basically a recap of what you just read instead of a well thought out ending? I don't know either
edit: I'd also like to mention how painfully obvious it is that the author did little to no research on actual blind people before writing this. From minor details like Blake grabbing onto people's shoulders as a guide to the cringe-worthy face touching scene, there's just no end to how awful this is
In a bout of nostalgia, I read the whole unedited version and felt all the tingles I felt the first time I read this book. Then, when I was done, I found out about this version and got so excited that someone I followed and waited for and constantly checked my phone to see if there’s anything new is now an established writer :’) congrats Blondie!
My expectations for this book were not met. I liked the message this book was trying to convey. Something about the plot seemed to lack depth, it was all to easy in a way. The first half of the book was purposeful but then after it seemed slow and a bit forced.
I first came across this book on wattpad before it was published. I absolutely love it back then!
It's a very emotional and heartwarming story. I always loved a good story about damaged heros/heroines despite ending up bawling my eyes out every time...I love how Hailey and Blake both helped each other through their struggles with their own disabilities and help each other to heal. I loved that Hailey changed Blake, in the sense that she made him happier :)
The pace of the story is good and there were no unnecessary drama or angst.
I'm pretty sure there is a book 2 to this series called Love is Silent which features Hailey and Blake as well. It's just as well! A very good YA romance series <3
This is one of those books that have great potential, the story was great but it was lost for me in the details. I started out really enjoying it but as it went on too many things were just not believable enough. One example is how Hailey got hurt, I just can't see how that amount of damage can be done from the way she explains it. I had no idea where they were located till the very end, minor detail but one I like to know so I have some idea of the setting, never would've guessed Canada. The timeline was confusing at times, may have had to do with the way schools in Canada work differently from America but something I might have figured out if I had known. It was a little too "sugary" towards the end but overall it was an okay read.
A Wattpad novel, Love is Blind is an amazing story that was beautifully written. No matter who you a piece of this book will always remain with you. This story causes you to grow and change into a totally different person.
I definitely recommend this book. If you are a romantic at heart, it is guaranteed that you will fall in love with this book.
I read this book when it was still on Wattpad and fell in love with it. This is the book that sparked my interest to learn braille and now I can read it! This book is what started my want to work with blind people when I'm older, so I shall always be grateful for this book. I love this book so much and I'm glad I found it again.
