Cute volume three, where the physical (seeing, though not yet touching, skin!) happens. This is Takeo and Yamato's first relationship so it's a little sweet/funny that the huge Takeo and tiny Yamato freak out when they see each other in swimsuits at the beach. They also have another date in the mountains and get stranded there over night! What will happen? Hint: Predictably, not much between these two innocents. They also plan a birthday party for friend Sunakawa, so the point here is that romance and friendship can co-exist. Very likable series, trust me.

Another funny and heartwarming chapter.

It's ostentatiously a love story, but it is also a friendship story between the three main characters and it's their interaction that is the heart of this series.

3.5/5

Re-read 2021: This was just fabulous. Had such a laugh at mom/dad when they found out their son had a girlfriend (special tea, cleaning the house, etc.), that is so cute! There are dates, worries, lots of love yous, tons of fun scenes, and I love how Yamato/Rinko is trying her hardest to get Takeo excited and he is just too dense to understand, I will be rooting for her! I love what Takeo/Yamato did for Suna, he had even forgotten it was his birthday!
The last chapter had me in stitches, especially because of the last pages. Teehee. Good job Suna!
I can't wait to read more of this one. I love it! So happy I decided to re-read this one.

Not as strong as the first two volumes, but this one has some good moments that highlight Goda's heroism, strength, and undying devotion.

What a lovable lug!

I think this might be my favorite volume yet!!

Another deeply fun volume and LOVED seeing more of the parents this time, especially Takeo's Dad! Oh my goodness, I can't even! LOL!

I loved the opening chapter because I enjoyed seeing what everyone was doing while Takeo and Yamato were out, especially since no one seemed THAT worried. LOL! I guess that says a lot about Takeo and how capable he is! LOL! (I especially loved Yamato's imaging/fantasy of her and Takeo! Bahahaha!)

Sunakawa once again came in as the winning MVP in how he knew EXACTLY what to say to Takeo when they all went to the beach! Goodness, I love his character! He seems pretty laid back, but then when we see him laugh about memories of him and Takeo or like the moment at the end of the volume, which was hilarious, he shows us there is more to his character than appearing "bored" all the time! He really really cares for Takeo and I'm glad they both want to be in each other's lives for a long time. <3 (I never want to see our trio broken!! *laugh cries*)

I confess there was a chapter that made me feel a little nervous that there would be a turn for some drama, but I should have never worried! Our couple only has eyes for each other and have *consistently* had great and open communication about their feelings. I know Takeo feels he's pretty dense and just ends up missing "social cues," but I agree with Suna that he is SO sincere in everything he does, especially with Yamato. I think she sees that and deeply love how sincere she is too. They are such a perfect match! <3

I feel with every new volume I continue to laugh more and more and this volume was no exception! Deeply looking forward to the next volume!

OMG! Soooo adorable. Takeo and Yamato learn to deal with their heart-thumping feelings for each other, especially with physical contact. These two are so naturally innocent it is such a pleasure to see their budding romance as they discover the pure joys of love. We can see that Yamato while more pure in the ways of the world, is also more bold in being open about them. I adore these two and would say they are my absolute favourite manga couple at this time! Now I'm up-to-date with this series and ready for volume 5 coming out soon.

Vol. 1 ★★★★☆
Vol. 2 ★★★★★

Not as good as Vol. 2, but still fun and silly. The volume takes all the shoujo tropes and give them wacky twists. Some of my favorite moments are the chapter about Suna's birthday and when Takeo's parents dote on Yamato while they're supposed to be studying.

The story is fun, but Aruko (the artist) really makes the story shine and embodies many different kinds of emotions from the characters in the most hilarious of ways!

Kazune and Aruko's steadfast-yet-squee-inducing rom-com continues. Despite taking three (3!) volumes to reach the physical level of , I doubt readers will find this manga plodding as it is chock-full of heart-palpitating story. Takeo and Rinko's relationship continues as they undertake a trip to the mountains and to the beach (this is manga after all), meet with one of Takeo Goda's former crushes, and prepare for mock exams.

I'm also a sucker for tough-looking protagonists like Goda, and seemingly apathetic characters like Suna, Goda's best friend.

If you've been reading these books immediately, one after the other then the nervousness of our protagonists and the frequent misinterpretations may wear you out. You may even just get tired of smiling for so long. It's the same criticism I maintain for Kaguya Wants to be Confessed to, so take it with a grain of salt.

If this were judged solely based on romance, it would not stand a chance in the abounding shoujo market. It is an excellent comedy, with hilarious facial expressions and drawings.

But as a RomCom manga, it is a stand-out. You get a dynamic relationship wherein every step of the love story is teased out. While the characters are caricatures of personality traits (manly man and devoted girlfriend), the development feels unique and special.

Goda, with pursed lips and overstated focus swats all around Rinko to disperse mosquitos while Rinko shrinks into his lap and blushes

Check out Aruko's exaggeration of the couple's features. I can't think of another series that uses hyperbole so frequently and effectively. In My Love Story!! these overstatements are a part of the stories charm.

I only wish these books were easier to get my hands on.

~4.5/5

I don’t know how this series could be any cuter. Or any sweeter. This series is pure sugar.

Takeo and Yamato go on a couple of dates in this volume, and they’re full of vanilla sweetness. Even their worries and mess-ups and miscommunications are humorous and adorable. Takeo is such a good guy, and he loves Yamato, and wants her to stay unharmed and good. She loves him just as much, but she is also more open about wanting to move their relationship further, even if Takeo doesn’t notice. Neither one of them has a dirty thought in their heads.

It’s adorable.

But even as the story focuses on them and their relationship, there’s plenty of room to showcase Takeo’s parents and Sunakawa, including a celebration for his birthday. They have so much happiness they can’t help but spread it around.

I’ve found that I really like Sunakawa, and maybe even relate to him. And Takeo’s parents are humorous, and so fitting to have raised Takeo.

This series is just a delight, and I love it.

A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, and Erik Jansen from MediaLab PR. Thank you so, so much!

As with the two previous volumes in this series, this made me smile from ear to ear. Takeo and Yamato just have the cutest relationship with one another and this series really just demonstrates the beauty and wonder of young love. Additionally, the series also emphasizes the importance of friendship - and I think we really saw that in this volume more than the other two. I have a feeling that some more difficult topics will soon be discussed in future volumes involving the couple's friend Sunakawa. I really enjoy how Takeo does not value one relationship over the other and I love how its emphasized that both his best friend and his girlfriend are important to him. I think this is really important for younger readers to see. Overall, this is just a cute series that I know is guaranteed to make me giddy. I will need to pick up the next volume soon!

I like this series but it's pretty repetitive so far. I'd like something to happen to push it forward, because this is a long series to keep repeating everything that's going on. I love our characters, but they all keep saying over and over and over how amazing Takeo and Yamato are. I need a little something more from this series to keep going.

By far my least favourite part of the series so far, while it wasn't so bad by the end (and the next volume is back in perfect stride) something about the start of this volume just did not appeal to me.
We do get to meet Takeo's father Yutaka Gōda who is, again, a nice contrast to Yurko.

The story continues to lack significant stakes, which would be a problem in a more ambitious narrative. However, the goal of My Love Story is heartwarming comedy and aspirational romance. As a comfort read, the series delights.

This manga is so adorable and sweet, I think my heart might burst from reading it. I love it so much! The mock exam plot was probably my favorite of the book.
