Just ok, the Portuguese people sound wonderfully friendly and welcoming, but as with many foreign countries, so many things sound much too much of a hassle to contend with if one would wish to become a permanent resident there, from renting a home, getting utilities put in your name, to buying a vehicle, waiting for the required paperwork would be enough to drive many mad!

Too disheartening to be a pleasant read! :(

The highs and lows of one couple's experience of moving to Portugal

Great advice and very informative. Through their own experiences the authors have given a true picture of the ups and downs of moving to Portugal. I agree with Louise that many ex pays and holidaymakers don't want to embrace the country they are in. They would rather have fish and chips, a full English breakfast and a pint down the pub. Perhaps they should think about staying in England!! Well written by Louise and Ben. Enjoyed reading this book very much.

Reminiscent of Peter Mayle's "A Year in Provence," but lighter, more easygoing. Great for poolside reading!
