Baby Peter Connelly is a name that will be forever etched in the Nations heart. His short life was one of misery and torture. What turned his mother, Tracey Connelly, boyfriend Steven Baker and his brother Jason Owen into the monsters they were. Peter was tortured by Baker and Owen in the most sadistic fashion while his mother looked on. Social workers and doctors paid over 75 visits to the flea infested dump Connelly called home but despite his constant injuries and neglect never acted to save him. Connelly herself was a victim of abuse, sent to school in rags she had the nickname Tracey 'Tramp' at school and was the victim of abuse off her mother and all around her. As youngsters Baker and Owen tortured and skinned live animals, beat and terrorised the own granmother, locking her in a wardrobe in a bid to get her to change her will. This is the full account of not only what happened to Peter and his siblings, it is the full story of the three evil people who caused his death. The unforgivable incompetance and the mistakes made by Haringey authorities. The public backlash and all that followed plus the culprits time in jail up to the present date and what became of the people from Haringey social services and healthcare who played a major part in the death of an innocent angel baby boy. Baker was also convicted of rape of a two year old girl. The trial made history and what happened is told for the first time.
How did this happen under the eyes of so many supposedly protecting this little baby. Plus the rape of a two year old. Peter had his spine broken and ribs he was dead. Then it’s hunt the scapegoats to deflect blame on the services who supposedly protect. I hope prison justice is dished out regularly. The mother appears to have some kind of mental incapacity to see what she has done. They should all have a life sentence it was cruelty beyond belief and murder. A full life term leaving prison in a box.
I don’t feel I can star rate this book. Based on how it’s written, 5 stars but as for the content and nature of the book -1 stars. Though I knew that before I picked it up. It’s completely beyond me how many people in authority let this poor boy slip through the net. I vaguely remember seeing this story on the news years ago and even then being completely gob smacked. Now I have my own baby, re visiting the story hit me in a different way. May that poor boy rest in peace.
Such a sad sad story of those that where meant to love him he should like the rest of her children never be left with her it’s just sick that a 2 year old gets sexually abused how can this happen and the failing of those who are meant to know better shocking I just wished the 3 of them would have been locked up forever. Good night Baby Peter RIP
Very very sad read how authorities missed what BABY P was going though He now in the hands of god and the Angels god bless him RIP little man This book hurts your heart 🙏🙏🙏. Poor baby
A book which has detailed the immense abuse and torture a poor defenceless boy endured, it was hard to read. It went on to tell the reader about the failings of professionals involved who neglected to identify and escalate concerns, i feel this latter part of the book was rushed and didn’t offer thorough information.
This wasn't an enjoyable read but you have to get past your own feelings. What that baby went through and we all remember the newspapers at the time. I know his mother had a bad start herself but she let her son down, badly as did social services, doctors, gp's and other family members. A lesson that somehow continues even now.
