NOTE: This is NOT by the SF writer of the same name!
This is the only book that EST/Werner Erhard tried to stop, in a US Federal Court. The suit failed, and the title rocketed to the #2 slot on the New York Times list, selling more than a million copies!
"EST" has now changed its name to "The Landmark Forum", but the message is still the same, and you can get it in this 2011 Revised Edition at a fraction of the cost for the theatrical experience.
The book describes in detail how most people are stuck in the "Fishtank Of Effect", and it shows the reader how to move upward, onto the "Cloud Of Cause" and in the process, assume control of one's life, and proceed to win the games you create.
You will also discover how to become a true leader ("guru") in your chosen field(s), the secret to healthy relationships, the successful way to handle your kids, and finally, why the author considers life to be a game.
Don't miss this opportunity to get this important message before you pay big money for the actual experience!
Carl Frederick was a devotee of est, Erhard Seminars Training. He wrote a book about the practice while working to become a Seminar Leader for the est training. The book became a best-seller, and Frederick quit his job to travel, first to Hawaii, and then around the world in a sailboat. He eventually settled in Costa Rica, where he constructed and managed a tourist resort in 1997.
Frederick received his B.Sc. in Psychology from Penn State University and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. Before joining est, he worked in advertising and marketing, first for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio, as a product manager, then for Heublein in Hartford, Connecticut, as Director of New Products. Later, he became VP/Director of Marketing for Hot Wheels at MattelToys in Los Angeles.
A quick and complete look at the message of Landmark Forum. Good for reviewing after the course, or for tasting the sauce before ordering the immersive experience.
Ideas from Buddhism - compassion + calling people a**holes = EST
The only thing I learnt from this is that books can be passive aggressive. Otherwise I am still wondering...what the hell did I just read?
But seriously, if you want to know more about the idea of living in the now or about how we are responsible for everything we create in our lives, just learn Buddhism or any similar spiritual practice. Their key message is the same but they teach with kindness and not with emotional abuse.
My copies keep being stolen by curious friends. This is a time capsule for those who've been there and done that. Very much written in the vein of a fireside chat. Highly recommended.
A case study in shoddy craftsmanship; poorly executed and very poorly written, Frederick is one of those people who was in on a trend at the right time, but a look back reveals the weaknesses of the work itself. Dramatically inferior to Luke Rinehart's The Book of Est considering they both more or less cover the same ground.
