作者写政治方面带有一些个人主观色彩，对荣氏家族总结的倒为详细，荣德生与其子荣毅仁性格相似，踏实稳重，思想开放且眼光长远。而荣智健的对资本运作能力极其像荣宗敬，爱好投机，甚至比荣宗敬更为大胆，结局也不难想象。
