Tony Buzan was an English author, educational consultant, and pioneer of the mind mapping technique, which he developed to enhance learning, creativity, and memory. Born in Middlesex in 1942, he studied psychology, English, mathematics, and science at the University of British Columbia and later became a graduate student at Simon Fraser University, where he served as the inaugural president of the student society. Buzan was a strong advocate for mental literacy and radiant thinking, drawing inspiration from figures like Leonardo da Vinci and Albert Einstein. He authored or co-authored over 80 books, including the bestselling Use Your Head, The Mind Map Book, and The Speed Reading Book, and gained international recognition through his 1970s BBC series Use Your Head. Buzan co-founded the World Memory Championships, the Mind Sports Olympiad, and the Brain Trust Charity. His legacy lives on through his books, seminars, and iMindMap software.
I was very excited to read this book. I thought it was a creative and exciting way to introduce productivity to one’s life. The introductory chapters 1-3 were intriguing and I enjoyed them. Chapter 4 was also good too, but started to become repetitive. I stuck with the book, but the remaining chapters were so repetitive and became too much. Mind Maps are great. Using them is useful. But to read an entire book on them - turns something exciting into something redundant and boring.
A brief overview of how to create mind maps and their potential applications in a business setting. I have never read a book before about mind mapping, so it was useful to get a broad view of the topic. However, nothing really in-depth, a lot of common sense, and it repeats itself frequently.
The book I read to research this post was Mind Map For Business by Tony Buzan et al which is a very good book which I read at http://safaribooksonline.com
Mind maps are an intuitive way to express thoughts in a drawing that shows the relationships between them. They always have a central theme and branches and subbranches come out of this each one with a different aspect or part of a subject. This was invited by Tony Buzan one of the authors of this book. This book looks at how to apply mind maps to business situations like appraisals and negotiations. With appraisals you can put the persons name in the centre of the mind map and have branches coming out of the centre about different aspects of the job. Out of these branches you will have sub branches coming out with the components that make up each aspect and other sub branches with whether he did well or not. If you use pictures in the mind map that will help you remember better than words. Our brains are hard wired for remembering pictures. If you are going into a negotiation you might want to do a mind map first looking at your point of view with what is negotiable. Then do one looking at the other's point of view with what you think should be negotiable from his point of view. If you are bringing different departments together for a single project there is no better way of showing them what they need to achieve than with a mind map. The same goes for if you have to do a presentation. There is also various mind mapping software some especially the proper business packages are very expensive. There is a software package recommended by and endorsed by Tony Buzan called iMindMap. One thing about this kind of software is your mind maps will always look neat and also you can tweak them till you get them just right. This book contains loads of examples of mind maps including ones done on a computer & it's a moderate length. It amazes me that Tony has written over a hundred books but always has something different to say in all his books.

It is a shallow book. Most of the content are just examples of how you would frame a concept using mind maps. Also it felt sometimes as a marketing content I payed to get as it heavily advertize their software.
I have been using mind maps for many years on my own. I thought getting the book by the Tony Bozan "the inventor of mind maps" would help me become better. Alas, for me it was a waste of time.
Useful processes on building mind maps. Contains information on how and when they should be used. Far too much space is spent on cheerleading the idea of mind maps and repetitive case studies.
Could be a pamphlet.
Giving it two stars because it is helpful, but you'd probably be better served reading about mind maps from an online article.
In 'Mind Maps for Business,' Tony Buzan outlines a Swiss army knife of business applications of mind maps. If you're in business or work as an employee, you'll want to master these creative thinking and innovation skills.
