Nutrition for Life capitalizes on students’ natural interest in nutrition by demonstrating how nutrition relates to their health. A unique aspect of the text is its presentation of nutrients based on function, not on chemical classification. Making It Work for You, The Human Are We Really What We Eat?, Bountiful Sources of Energy and Nutrients, An Essential Energy-Supplying Nutrient, Crucial Components of All Body Tissues, Micronutrients with Macro Powers, Tissue Builders and Impulse Transmitters, The Inner River of Life, Achieving and Maintaining a Healthful Body Weight, Nutrition and Physical Keys to Good Health, Nutrition Throughout the Life Cycle, Nutrition The Production, Safety, and Security of the World’s Food Supply For all readers interested in nutrition.
Absolute crap. Faithful to the FDA and not to common sense.
The most terrible book on nutrition and health ever written. I am beyond disgusted about its recommendations and even more sickened by the fact that my university - a supposed place of higher education - would choose to teach out of such an awful text. Beyond the most crude facts, such as protein equals 4 calories, it spouts meaningless and HARMFUL suggestions. I am amazed that in this day and age these backwater ideas still linger when it comes to food and health.
Any dietitian or nutritionist will advise against the opinions in this book - especially when it comes to food additives, sugar substitutes and what goals you should have in your daily diet. One would think that massive tumors in lab animals would be enough for this book to realize that fake sweeteners are not a healthful alternative for daily consumption.
