Naiari James is the last person to run from a fight, but when it comes to the love of her life, that’s all she can do. As a woman that loves hard, she puts her feelings to the side to protect the one thing she can’t lose. Her past taught her not to expect much, so disappointment never fazed her. Sawyer is the man you wanted stepping behind you. He showers those close to him with unimaginable love and affection. In his world, nothing is out of reach, except the one woman he’s sought after for years. If life taught him one thing, it was to cherish what was in front of you because it can be taken at the drop of a dime. Love tends to bring you back to the life you tried to ignore but so does the past if you aren’t careful.
I’ve been sleeping on Ms. Easton but a bish is wide tf awake now!!!! This was such a good story and from the very beginning I knew this was going to be a wild ride!
Forbidden love stories are my weakness and this one was no different! I will say that the synopsis did not match the actual storyline. It had me thinking the story would be about one thing and what I actually read was totally different!
This was a true representation of the heart wanting what it wants! Raven “Saw” Sawyer and Naiari were drawn to each other like moths to a flame from their very first encounter. He knew she was for him and she felt the same! Their connection was otherworldly magnetic and they did their best to fight the hold it had on them. It would only make sense for them to give in to temptation but there’s just one well two minor issues. He’s 20 years her senior and also the father of her best friend. So what do you do in a situation like this?! 🎶 So I creep, yeah, just creepin' on, On the down low 🎶 and creeping they did!
However, like ya granny always said….. what’s done in the dark comes to light! And when it did emotions were high and things went way left!Listen I honestly didn’t see what the issue was. Everyone involved were consenting adults. Kenzie was a brat and she deserved an ass whoopin! She was too grown, in a whole relationship and about to be somebody’s mama to be carrying on the way she did!
There were a few timeline discrepancies and errors that confused me at time and certain parts of the story felt rushed. Overall this was a really good read and I’ll definitely be back for more from this author!!
I loved this book. This is definitely 4.5 stars. Saw and Ari have a complicated relationship as Saw is Aris best friend dad. Saw was all BDE and gave not one fcks about his daughter knowing he was with Ari. Ari was annoying denying her blessing and happiness because of her bestie. One thing I loved they was nasty 😈😏. This was my first read by the author and can’t wait to read more
4.5 ✨ I knew I was going to be in for a ride and Connie delivered with this story. Naiari should have been off-limits but Saw couldn’t hold back any longer. I loved his energy! Saw was a man who loved hard and was a straight shooter. The way he finessed his way into finding out where Nai lived had my mouth on the floor-I was like, “Yesss, Saw! Get your woman, sir!” I think their relationship was sweet, despite the 20-year age gap. Nai had a maturity that matched Saw’s energy. I completely understood Kenzie’s reaction to her father and best friend. However, I think she hit below the belt with her words and was acting entitled. I appreciated that she voiced her feelings and made amends with them separately. Let’s be clear, Nai should have listened to Saw and told her early on!! The book moved fast, but there was never a dull moment. There were moments of miscommunication, but I had to remember they were still learning from each other in a relationship setting. I loved that Connie shined awareness on sickle cell disease in babies. The scenes in the hospital with RJ were pivotal moments in the story, and I felt it was a unique addition. Overall, this was a good take on a forbidden romance. I would recommend it.
I had an arc from the author, all thoughts are my own.
3.5 ⭐️ Raven “Saw” Sawyer falls in love with his daughter Mackenzie’s bestfriend Naiari the first time he laid eyes on her.
Saw was still dealing with the loss of his wife & had basically given up on love, until he laid eyes on Ari. Naiari dealing with being abandoned by her mother and having never been loved the way she felt she should have been, until she connected with Saw.
Saw & Ari did the back and forth dance for 6 years, with a number of things happening during that time. That included Ari stepping out on her boyfriend with Saw. They finally gave into their want for one another and became an official couple, which tarnished relationships & caused problems with family members, past friends, & Exes. However, their love transcended through it all in the end. Although this book had the potential to be great, it was a very good read!
I loved this read. The storyline has secrets, lies, love, and family. With well developed, likeable characters that can't leave each other alone. A cute read with a little drama.
What an exquisite story! It gave me a new perspective on the definition of love and friendship.
I was happy to see Naiari made the choices she made for her friendship with Kenzie. She was never vindictive in her way of thinking. She fully loved both father and daughter.
She believed in love, although she was given nor showed it.
I'm happy Saw what she needed all those years of separation.
So good that darn ex was a lunatic he really didn't want Ari he didn't want her to be with anybody else. Saw was the man he gave BDE he was crazy as ever he was determined to get Ari by all means necessary.
I enjoyed this one from beginning to end. I couldn’t wait to see Kenzies reaction 😂. I love that Ari found her own family. Don was a great friend. I don’t normally dig age gaps but Saw made this one 🔥
He kept his eye on the prize! Lol Saw was the perfect amount of crazy for me💜 I love it when the FMC matches energy, she wasn’t a pushover! Great read, simple storyline 🖤
I feel like I wasted my time reading this book. Had the synopsis matched the book, I wouldn’t have read it. Typically I’ll finish a 200 page book in 1 day. It took me 5 days to read it because the characters got on every one of my nerves.
Saw wanted Ari knowing she Kenzie best friend, at he waited until she graduated from college. Ari played too many games for me. One minute she curse him out next minutes she was on him. Even though Kenzie was in her feelings and called Ari every name in the book, and I don't blame her. Dre didn't let her disrespect her daddy. It is hard knowing her godson is really her brother. Hakeem sister ain't ish but a messy heaux. Hakeem got everything he was looking for, except Don got hurt in the process. Saw didn't have to go off on Miranda like that she was only doing what Air asked her. Kenzie and Ari made up, she told Ari that she was pregnant. Everyone heard their conservation though the baby monitor. It was good to hear from the Hoffman' s. Ari, Saw, and Kenzie are spoiled.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I mean I understand Ari being apprehensive with Saw because the age difference and he's her best friends dad, but to say she was older than the rest of her friends, she did things in my opinion in a childish manner. I'm not about to downplay anyone in an abusive relationship, but you have all these people who love you and obviously knew something wasn't right, but you stuck around without help from anyone?🤔 Saw was a good dude because he accepted Ari for who she was attitude and all and her borderline toxic behavior. I love Mama Gael! She definitely put Saw in his place too. It was good to see the Hoffman Clan again and that was probably the highlight of this book. I'm glad Mackenzie accepted things and got over herself. I just didn't love this book like I thought I would, but that's ok. Ms. Easton is known to make it shake otherwise so I can devour the next one. Happy Reading Y'all!💋
I am generally not a fan of age gap stories. I don’t find them romantic, because the older person who’s lived life going after a younger person just figuring themselves out is predatory, IMO.
This book was even worse because it’s an age gap where the supposed best friend gets pregnant twice in less than a year by her best friend’s father, keeps it a secret until the child is diagnosed with sickle cell then springs it on the best friend in the doctor’s office, and had the nerve to make the best friend the god mother of the child while keeping best friend in the dark that she’s actually the SISTER to her “god son.” Just trash all around.
This series is getting better and better!!!…I love the older man, young woman love story!!!…The fact that these 2 main characters fought their feeling for 2 years and was able to pull it together and blend their feelings!!!… Saw was a man that loved how he did and let it be known how he felt!!!…His wife gave the ultimate sacrifice to make sure she left a part of her with him!!!… I loved how the 2 ladies were able to apologize and fall back into their friendship!!!… Don was truly a great friend!!!. Although Ari felt alone because she lacked a relationship with family, she had a village that became the family she needed and wanted!!!…
Idk I had faith this book was going to be GREAT but it was just I don't know. Ari was soooooo annoying that I wouldn't even tell her seek therapy. Like I just wanted to yell, "Let that man be then! It's always something and you doing tooooooo much!" Now as for Saw, sir you were living a peaceful life and knew what you wanted but you were doing a lot forgetting that that girl was 20 years younger than you! As for Kenzie? Tsk tsk, you was only gonna be able to lay hands and call me out my name one time before I showed you who I was. Overall underwhelming book.
This was such an entertaining story right from the beginning and to the last page. The writer gives us a complex relationship that's reminds you that May/December love affairs do work. I love that Saw the hero in this story does everything to keep his family together and managed to do this all the while working around a psycho. You are not going to be disappointed in reading this ,and you are going to love reading about real love.
This book was cool, but Naiari got on my nerves sometimes. I get she's way younger than Saw, but she came off super immature and jealous. Like, she expected him to be single after she kept running away from him. He wasn't perfect either and had his own drama. At least his daughter was chill after a while about him being with her bestie. Still a solid read overall.💖💖
I couldn't even finish the story. 😂 Saw and Ari were selfish and truly delusional. Like when she told her "best friend" that is was bump the friendship. I was done ain't no way you messing with my dad giving him kids and you say we'll accept it. Nah big dog this story was toxic but maybe someone will like like it lol
I enjoyed the story, but the daddy and daughter's best friend weirded me out, but I'm glad they finally found a balance even though Ari seemed more mature than Saw at times. Kenzie had every right to her feelings, because what tf😮 craziness, jealousy, betrayal, toxic, but those s scenes were 🔥
Ari irked my nerves from the moment it was revealed that she had a baby to the end. I hated her attitude. My goodness she was beyond selfish and annoying. She did wayyy too much. Way too much and I really disliked her for it. My goodness
I wish the synopsis was more clearer on what this book was about. Had that been done I would of skipped this because I don’t not care for the best friend hooks up with the best friend dad.
Saw a man that know what he wants, and won’t let any outside forces or even his own family stop his love for Ari. True definition of an alpha. Connie really did her thing on this forbidden romance. Recommend
This is a must read. The age difference never was an issue for me. Because like they both said, he never looked at her like a daughter and she never looked at him like a dad. I'm happy that the girls friendship survived.
Sawyer found love again. Ari finally got the love she deserves. Mackenzie was being a brat but come around and saw the love her father and bestie had for each other. Ari has a real group of friends that is truly her family.
What is it with the head strong ready to pop off famales? Every story has the rebellious chick who is extremely immature i cant read anymore of the series. I dispise those type of women
I always try to push through & finish books but i’m sorry Ari didn’t do it for me, she was too much. Not the first time I DNF a book by this author due to the female character so maybe her writing style just isn’t for me. I hope you guys enjoy thou.
