From the Number One Bestselling Author Saxon Andrew comes the first book in his newest series, Star Chase-The Lost Prince. This new series takes place a thousand years in Earth’s future after mankind has moved out into the galaxy. With new Characters and powerful enemies, the series will hook you from the start.
The worlds in the Orion Nebula had been planning rebellion against the Galactic Union for more than a hundred years. Now the rebellion has started with a sneak attack against the Royal Family on Euclid. The planetary defenses were temporarily suppressed and the attack on the Royal Palace killed everyone including half of the invaders. But one member of the Royal Family wasn’t in the palace when the invaders struck. The attackers were forced to flee as the Obelisk began defeating the suppression field and began to come back on line. The attacking transports fled the planet but not before two of them were vaporized. Before they left Euclid, they determined that the Prince was no longer on the planet.
The Nebula knew that if the Prince was to return to Euclid, the main Obelisk would power all the other Obelisks on the worlds of the Union and the rebellion would be over before it began. Only a member of the Royal Family could power the Obelisks and the Nebula knew that the Prince must be found and eliminated.
The Nebula chose their most powerful warrior to find him. There was little chance of the Prince escaping the Dark Officer. He was a High Genetic and possessed unique tracking skills. The only question was how many were going to die before he was successful.
What the Nebula and Union didn’t know was that all of them were at risk of being destroyed and the Prince was the only one that could save them. Would they find out in time? The action is nonstop in Star Chase as the Prince runs to save himself and the Union
Excerpt from Star Chase
Ian said, “They’ve brought in sixty more ships. We might as well determine where we stand in comparison; prepare to attack.”
“Gary, you come in at the center; I’ll go left and Drey you go right. Hit them hard and stay on your edges. Ready…go.”
Abby watched Gary fly the ship between two of the battleships and spin the wings. Two blaster beams shot out of the wing tips and the two ships were left burning and drifting in space. Gary yelled, “Thirty more ships have just jumped in; keep them in sight.”
Ian flew between a four ship group, spinning the wings as he fired at all four. Two of them were left burning but the other two withstood the hits and turned to pursue. He left normal space for an instant and emerged directly behind the two, giving chase and fired a missile at their thrusters. The missiles hit and the ships blew up in giant explosions that Ian flew over just as eight ships emerged into normal space directly below his path. All eight immediately fired, but only three on the port side hit the fast flying warship. E attempted to drop out of normal space, but failed as two large holes were blown through his port wing.
Abby yelled, “Ian’s been hit!”
Gary whipped the ship around and went to a brief FTL run and was on the attackers under Ian in a heartbeat. The giant white ship spun and fired a red beam at the eight ships taking aim at E. All eight ships had holes burned through their hulls. Five were left burning and three exploded in massive blasts. “IAN, GET OUT OF HERE!”
This review is from: Life Warrior (The Fight for Creation (Book One)) (Kindle Edition) These 13 books (so far) are the best SciFI I've read and my favorite Series.
Saxon Andrew is a former social worker with a degree in Psychology and Education from Mercer University. He has taught school, managed several sales organizations and owned his own business.
He has devoured science fiction since he first learned to read and his stories are the product of years of personal experience and exposure to the universes created by the genre’s great authors.
He lives in Tampa, Florida with his wife and two dogs who still appreciate his sense of humor after all these years. "Dogs are always ready to smile."
While trying to hide from a violent dictator, a planet is discovered with an Alien race that been destroyed. Acquiring new technology Ian fights to save others.
“The Lost Prince” was published in 2013 and is the first of the "Star chase" series. It was written by Saxon Andrew who has published more than 30 books.
I obtained this novel for free through https://www.bookbub.com. This is a Science Fiction novel and I would label it as a Space Opera. In fact it reminded me quite a bit of books written by E. E. “Doc” Smith (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._E._Smith) in the 1930s - 50s.
I at first wanted to stop reading the novel, but I held on and I am glad that I did. This is not a deep novel with rich characters. Once I accepted that and took it for the pulp fiction story that it is, I enjoyed it.
Prince Britain Ian Montgomery is one of the few surviving royals. Most of the others were killed in an attack by the Rebels. The story follows Ian as he avoids both the Rebels and the Union who are looking for him. As he hides, Ian makes friends and develops an interest in a young woman.
As he and his companions struggle to find a way to oppose the threat of the Rebels, they discover the first evidence of non-humans. The struggle soon changes from opposing the Rebels, to finding a way for humanity to survive and remain free.
The novel contains near constant action. It could easily have been a Saturday morning serial thriller with each episode leaving the reader on the edge of their seat. As mentioned before, the characters are not very deep. I found it odd too that multiple times “inferred” was used instead of “infrared”. On the whole I enjoyed the 4.5 hours spend reading the 272 page book. I would rate this somewhere between PG and R, only leaning towards the R for some violence. I rate this book a 4 our of 5.
With this book Saxon Andrews starts yet another book series and, again, it is a good start. When reading the previous series I didn’t really get the feeling that all of them was really concluded so I hope he is not trying to do too many things at once but, anyway, about this particular book…
As I said, it is a good start, a really good start. I have criticised quite a few of Andrew Saxon’s books for them quickly going way out of scale with millions and millions of ship and worlds, even entire galaxies, being destroyed from one page to another. I was very happy to see that, in this book, this is really dialled back a lot. It is a new story that has nothing to do with his previous stories about the Star Realm (Annihilation, Ashes of The Realm) nor with the Lens of Time series. In this book we follow a few, emphasis on a few, people on their road to adventure and our heroes only have a few ships at their disposal. This makes it a lot easier to get close and care for the main characters than in some of his previous books.
As usual Saxon Andrew’s books are appealing to, or at least suitable for, a young adult audience. There is little in terms of hard science in these books. The story is swift and filled with action and the obligatory romance. There is the usual simplicity and naivety where good guys are really good and the “baddies” get turned from bad to good with a few seconds of “explaining” by the heroes.
In short, this is a classical Saxon Andrew book and will appeal to everyone that liked his previous work. I would say that this book is indeed better than some of his latest books before this one. It feels more worked and not so rushed as those books.
The Lost Prince by Saxon Andrew is another great scfi book. It begins when Civil War breaks out and they murderer all the royal family except for the crown prince. He escapes with the unknowing help of a young woman. He flees to his spaceship. It's called E and it's computer is imprinted with Prince Ian's memories. Ian is genetically enhanced as are all the royal family and upper class. The person responcible for most of the butchery is Frey. He's also genetically enhanced. He doesn't know that he was kidnapped and his family murdered by the Dictator, the rebel leader. Ian and Violet, a royal who escaped her life in the royal family. She was to be married but she was in love with someone else. Her lover was killed while exploring a far out planet. Ian confronts Drey about the truth of his lineage telling him he was destined to be king. Ian and Violet find superior weapons on the planet. They fear that these aliens will come looking for them. Meanwhile Princess Andi escapes Euclid with her brother Cole's help. Drey and Andi are paired together and fall in love. They comprise a plan to chase the aggressive slaver aliens away in a different direction. Plans go haywire. Read more of this book for a fantastic part one of the story.
While I made it through his "Escape to Earth" series, this one stopped me cold. The plot is extremely simplistic: with trillions of humans in our galaxy, the characters manages to stumble on their long lost love interest, without any explanation of how those odds were beaten. Repeat three times.
And to avoid doing it dozens of times, the XXXXXXX (naming them wouldn't really make a difference) are Deux ex machina on call, in every chapter. Here's me getting off.
There were some good ideas in this story but, overall, the story development and actual writing were simplistic. The story actually could/should have been quite a bit longer...with many areas including much more elaboration. In addition, the audio book narrator was not very good. He spoke way to fast most of the time and often ran the sentences together with almost no pause.
Somewhat slow to develop the plot for the series but maybe that is the primary value of the first book in a series. Ended ok though and I just ordered book two. Congrats on a good start and your enthusiasm.
I'm not sure but think even the kids would want more imagination than this cardboard cut-out of lazy thoughtless writing. Its certainly young kids .. not young adult level.
This was one of the book I couldn't stop reading until I was finished. A good variety of characters and lots of action kept me, as a reader, interested.
