Now in paperback, The Great Chicago Fire presents a complete narrative history of the 1871 fire that destroyed 73,000 miles of streets and 17,500 buildings, and which left 100,000 people homeless. More than 150 photographs and illustrations help tell the inspiring story of a heroic American city.
This was not what I was expecting. This book is like a written map. It literally takes you minute by minute and block by block in what burns up. So......it gets kind of boring at times. It also gets into the politics of the times which I am not interested in. Great drawings and pictures though.
✒️ I borrowed this from the DS school library, and reading it was educational and enjoyable. The book cover is memorable. It is a fascinating and shocking historical fact (the fire, not me reading).

A beautiful book with many photographs and eye witness drawings, stories, descriptions of exactly what happened hour by hour. A fascinating book for anytime.
