On her wedding night, Sabrina will share the bridal suite with one of her brother’s best friends. Which one? She has no idea!
Sabrina Fitzpatrick helped plan her dream wedding last year—for her brother and his wife. Now, she wants her own fairytale ceremony. She’s tired of waiting for commitment-phobe, Detective Luke Marino, to realize she’s been crazy about him since puberty. Consequently, when Luke’s billionaire friend asks her to marry him, she’s compelled to accept BJ Elliott’s proposal, especially after he suggests their impending marriage might induce his idiot pal to finally step forward. Unfortunately, a week later, adrenaline-junkie Luke risks his life again and ends up temporarily confined to a wheelchair.
BJ would love to give Sabrina an unforgettable wedding night, but he fears she’ll never be happy with him if she doesn’t resolve her feelings for his buddy, first. Therefore, even knowing he could lose her, BJ persuades her to become Luke’s live-in nurse—offering her one last chance to convince the man she loves to take BJ’s place at the altar (which BJ doubts his friend will ever do). If nothing else, he hopes Love’em and Leave’em Luke can convince Sabrina he’ll make a lousy husband.
Luke has two secrets not even his best friends know. The first is he aches for Sabrina with every fiber of his being. The second is he loves her enough to spare her the heartbreak that being his wife would undoubtedly entail. Much to Luke’s dismay, his resolve to resist his buddy’s fiancée is tested after Sabrina steps in as his nurse and starts prancing around in nothing but his threadbare T-shirt. If he surrenders to her seduction, it may destroy his relationship with BJ. And, worse still, if he gets a taste of loving Sabrina, how can he ever stand by and let her marry his friend?
I honestly have eye strain from the number of times I rolled my eyes while reading this book. Ridiculous plot, irritating characters, ugh. Here's the lowdown, and you decide for yourself. Sabrina loves Luke, and has loved him for years. Luke loves Sabrina but refuses to acknowledge it. You have to slog through almost half of the book before you find out why. Ben loves Sabrina and knows that she loves Luke, but wants to marry her anyway because "I love you enough for both of us". Even though everyone in town knows she's in love with Luke, when she gets engaged to Ben, no one questions this?! Then Ben tells both Sabrina and Luke that they should sleep together so that Sabrina can get Luke out of her systems - as I said, ridiculous! THEN, after Sabrina and Luke do sleep together, and admit their love for each other, he still wants her to marry Ben and she is considering it!!! This book was like watching a train wreck - even though I was hating the whole experience, I kept reading, because I thought that surely it HAD to get better. That's time I'll never get back.
I had such a hard time getting past the premise of this book. Having read (and enjoyed) almost all the other Redemption books, I didn't really read what this one focused on before starting it.
Sabrina's in love with Luke, Luke's in love with Sabrina but can't marry her, Ben's in love with Sabrina, Sabrina loves Ben, but she's not "in love" with Ben... Nothing about this makes sense, and no man would be ok his fiancé having sex with another man to "get him out of her system" before they get married! I sort of wish Sabrina had grown more of a backbone and told both of them to take a hike. Why would any woman let them make decisions for her?
Despite the convoluted premise, the book was very readable, and I enjoyed much of the banter between Luke and Sabrina. I also enjoyed the little peeks of the other Redemption residents from previous books.
A Heart Decision is the fifth book in the Redemption series by Laurie Kellogg. Ben loves Sabrina and wants to marry her. He can give her whatever she wants as he is a billionaire. Sabrina is holding off because she just can’t get over loving Luke. Luke, however, is unavailable. He says he will never marry and have children but never tells anyone why. In a moment of weakness, Sabrina agrees to marry Ben. However, she soon changes her mind. Luke has never told his best friends, Ben and Tyler, why he is determined not to marry and have children. He is haunted by the idea of being a carrier of Huntington’s Disease or of getting it himself. Things get even more bizarre when Luke finds out that his Father is not his biological Dad but his uncle. What a twisted web pf deceit. Can Ben and Luke keep their friendship in spite of fighting over Sabrina? Doesn’t Sabrina have a say as to who she will marry? What does Luke find out about his biological father?
This is the second book in the Redemption series by Laurie Kellogg that I have read, but it is actually the fifth. While it does well as a stand alone, I enjoyed it so much I'd like to go back and read the rest of the series. Readers may be a bit surprised at the book summary when they read that Sabrina is planning a wedding without knowing which of two men will be the groom. So while it may not be the norm, the book itself will pull you into the story immediately, or at least that was the case for me. Since I don't want to give away the ending, I'll just say I can't wait for the next book that will probably be about the jilted groom!
The love story of Shrine and Luke. Shrine and BJ (Ben) are getting marry. One problem, she is in love with Luke. Luke is injured in the line of duty and BJ suggestion that she became his private duty nurse. He known she is not in love with him but hope my taking care of him she will fall out of love. Who will be the winner BJ or Luke? Ok story.
3.5 I have read several books in this Redemption Series, and they have all been enjoyable. They have relatable characters, with real life situations, true struggles and life lessons. Laurie has a gift for taking difficult topics and providing insight, education, and realistic outcomes without banging the reader over the head with it. But along with this socially conscious dynamic, she always throws a precious, heartfelt, sweet romance to pull at your heartstrings. We were also given glimpses into some of the couples that we have enjoyed from previous stories in this Redemption series, which is always fun to see the couples that we have grown to love doing well. What is also wonderful about this series, is that each book stands on its own, and can be read and enjoyed without having read the previous stories, but they are all so unique and enjoyable, that you should just go ahead and take the plunge for the entire series. I hope that Laurie will give Ben his own story, as he deserves happiness. The whole three way dynamic between Sabrina, Luke and Ben was a little hard to stomach at times, but everyone's heart was in the right place, and ultimately, the right couple emerged in the end. Thanks Laurie for another wonderful read.
I got this book by mistake as there was something wrong with the amazon download of No Exchanges, No Returns. My kindle shows me the cover of No Exchanges, but the content was A Heart Decision. I really liked the book. I didn't want to put it down. I thought BJ was . . . well a pushover. Why he would want to marry someone that obviously wasn't in love with him is just weak. I didn't get it. I loved his generosity but let's be a man. The lady isn't in love with you. Why wouldn't you want to find better? The whole premise of planning a wedding - with invitations - and leaving the groom unknown was too far fetched for me. Had those two issues not been in this book, I'd have rated it 5 stars. :)
I don't get why she agrees to marry somebody who she knows she isn't in love with. Then proceeds with the wedding plans without really being sure whom she'd marry - the guy she's in love with or the guy's best friend, her fiance.
Such quandary made me lose the romance factor here because I think it's a really lousy thing to do. Imagine- there's even an engagement party! And I don't understand BJ- he's so nice to the point of being moronic. And wait, there's more - Luke, Sabrina's man of her dreams - who's equally emotionally myopic.
Arrrgghh! And to think, I read every page of the book till the end!
There was a lot going on in this book. It could have been better without some of the subplot. The main thing that was a bit hard to read was the reason why there was the the two suitors. I'm also not a fan of leaving the other guy out in the cold once her choice was made. It was a bit sadistic for him to be strung ain't like that. I was happy to see information awareness about the illness but it seemed a bit harsh to assume most would go to the negative end of extremes. I gave this a shaky 3 stars. I do hope there will be another book to give the other guy his HEA.
Another great story! Sabrina is in love with Luke and has been since she was a child. He is her brothers friend. However Luke has a secret and won't even consider getting married because of it. Now Ben is also in love with Sabrina. He wants to marry her but feels she must first get Luke out of her system. When Luke gets hurt Sabrina moves in to help him. And let's just say things get heated up! Now the big decision is who will Sabrina marry? Read the book because I'm not telling!
I put this book series on hold for awhile but I really do enjoy it and I'm glad I decided to read this book finally. I think Laurie Kellogg is a master at intertwining the characters from other books seamlessly and tying the storylines together. The outcome of this book is so bittersweet. I can't say much else without ruining it for the next reader. If you are a fan of this series of this author then this is a no brainer...read this book.
I really enjoyed this book. There were places I laughed out loud and places where I just shook my head and had a one-sided conversation with the characters. It's a definite stand-alone book but you would benefit from reading the prequel and other four books as well. I'd like to see Ben have a book of his own and see where he sailed off to on the Sabrina and if he ever finds love.
Ok so Sabrina is a nurse who is planning a wedding. The groom will either be Ben who she likes but doesn't love, or Luke who she loves but he won't marry her because of a deep dark secret. As a nurse some of Sabrina's action and conversations are not like the typical nurse.....but it was an interesting read.
Just as was the case with the other books in the Redemption series, I was hooked from the outset. It is fun to "meet" aagain the other people you have come to know and love in the other books. I love Laurie Kellogg's books.
Fell in love with Luke and how a strong man like him wants happiness and love yet is afraid of what ifs. These two started as friends but you can tell right from the sentence these two are more than hot for each other. Loved it.
Loved the characters. Did not love the storyline about two men loving the same woman. Perhaps I am too old-fashioned. Well, there's no 'perhaps' about it - I am. Lots of good writing, though. I just couldn't find myself invested in the battle of who would win the girl.
Ok this book is my second favorite book in the series. It's a really good story. All Redemptions favorite people are in this book since Sabrina is Tyler's sister and Luke and Ben are his best friends. This is another must read!
I like reading anything by Laurie Kellogg or L.L. Kellogg. This book was an interesting story and I liked it for the most part. But really two guys and they each want the other to get the girl. This book was a little repetitive, I got tired of hearing the same woes over and over.
OK. while the premise behind the book was illogical, overall it wasn't a horrible book. the writing itself was decent. the dialogue was good. but the whole "sleep with my best friend to forget him" part was weird. if you can get past that, you can enjoy the book.
I think she did it wrong. I would of choosen ben. He never put her through the hell Luke did. He kept her at arms length far to long. And Ben loves her more then anything. This story was backwards.
How does one choose between two perfect men? My heart broke for Sabrina and all of the hard moments she had to go through only to watch at least one man's heart get ripped to pieces. So beautifully written.
Probably read one too many of these in a row, there's only so much braincandy you can take before your brain craves something with a bit more substance. This was a bit more serious in tone also, but still over the top. Fun, but need something more challenging once I'm done traveling.
I have really enjoyed this series. This book started out slow, but it eventually picked up. I enjoyed seeing the characters from previous books. I do hope that Ben will get his own story.
Everything I've read in this series has been a five for me, except this one. I just didn't like the idea of two friends being pitted against each other. Ben was a really nice guy. I didn't like how it ended for him.
Predictable, but still a good read... I hope we eventually get Ben's book. He definitely needs to fall head over arse in love with someone who can return the sentiment. :)
This was my second novel by Laurie Kellogg, I believe I read the first one in the series as well. I really enjoyed this one, just feel horribly sad for Ben.
