It was strangely organized, and some of the things she suggests directly counter what is provided in the sub training for the district. The anecdotes were the most valuable part of the book. I still don’t think you should make copies of things in the room to take home with you, though. Some of those things have limited licenses that you shouldn’t violate, or the teacher paid for the resource and it isn’t fair to expect him or her to share it with you, especially without permission or knowledge they’re doing it.
Having done a career pivot from business professional to a first time substitute teacher, I found this book to be full of helpful and practical tips that made my jump into the world of education much easier. I wish school districts gave this book to all brand new subs.

If you have no formal education training, this is a good overview of teaching tricks, tools, and methods. The web resources are mostly up to date and are extremely helpful.
I have yet to receive my first teaching assignment since I just graduated. I felt this book had a lot of good tips and tricks. I really enjoyed it and feel a little more prepared for subbing.
