Tommy "Two Thumbs" Giordano will have Adrian, one way or another. It's only a matter of time. And Adrian knows it too.
She knows it in the way he looks at her. The way her blood heats up whenever he touches her.

But there's a nagging feeling in her heart, one that won't let up no matter how hard she tries to silence it. Despite the crushing headaches that suddenly plague her, the constant threat of the gang war surrounding the club and the terrible blow she takes to her dreams of ever leaving Chicago, Adrian can't get one thing off her mind; Drew. The man who in a matter of days shook her up and left her wanting for more. The man with the intense eyes and the deadly air. The man who walked away and told her to forget him.

But some things are easier said than done.
Some melodies, once heard, simply cannot be forgotten.

"Swan Song 2 - Gin & Toxic" by Audrey Cole is the second installment in a serial drama set in late 1920s Chicago.

I received both books one and two for free in eBook format in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is regrettably short, but the author has managed to pack quite a bit of action and detail into a small amount of space.

Adrian is still headlining at Chicago's Cotton Club which is a gangster hangout run by Al Capone's older brother.

Lust, longing and dreams about stardom take center stage in this novella and I am very much looking forward to the next part of the story.

4 out of 5 stars due to a few editing issues such as referring to a brassiere as a brazier. But definitely worth reading.

I am a fan.

I'm officially a fan of the characters. I'm loving Tommy and Adrian and all the others. The relationships/friendships in the novel are really growing. The interactions in this book are just as fresh and witty as the first book. And I really am liking the way certain relationships are turning out. I also really enjoyed the unexpected turn this book took. It sets up really well for what expect to occur in the series. Again, my issue is the length, I want more than what is there. Maybe I'm spoiled because I usually gorge myself on book series the way other people do netflix, but I still feel like I want to read more than a little novella about these characters and this time period. But I guess if the biggest problem is that I want to read more, than really something's working well. Lol

Well let me start by saying that this was at least a bit of an improvement upon the first installment. I still maintain that it really should just be one book. But this one had enough redeeming qualities to make me excited for the next 'book' so I suppose that's the plus side. The ending did not make me nearly as peeved (although still a bit peeved) as the first one did so for that I gave it a bump up in ratings (really it's probably a 3.5). But now I'm immersed in this world and all I want is more right now. I feel like I'm literally stuck in the middle of a good book that I can't finish because it hasn't been written yet. A very frustrating feeling for sure!
