I rather liked this text. I didn't feel as though I were being talked down to, nor did I feel that I was being spoken to as if I were twelve--common practices in academic texts about education. On the contrary the information was presented in an easily understandable manner without being too cheesy, and I felt that the information was relevant and helpful. Recommended for educators looking to improve their assessment methods.

There are many books out there on classroom assessment. If you are a teacher new to the field of AfL, AaL, classroom assessment, etc., this is the book for you. The language it easy to understand, there are references to other authors that talk about something in particular and there examples from the classroom that can motivate you because you know someone out there has already done it and it works.

I read this for a course I took online. Some very cool theories about assessment for educators. I would recommend it to all teachers who want to change they way they use assessment in the classroom.

Earl uses great strategies to have teachers look at how they use assessment: is it to guide where students need to go to learn?

Or it is an end-all, final determination? Very interesting indeed for an educator...
