Prosperity: How to attract it

Rate this book
Prosperity: How to Attract it, is perhaps the most important classic on Law of Attraction, and one of the best written books on the subject. In it, Marden analyzes at length the law of attraction –in one of the best explanations ever conceived, and explains how a positive mind and self-faith are magnets for prosperity and joy, and will allow you to bring out the person you can be!

The author dedicated his life to gather the messages inspired in the wisdom of the ages, and to transfer them into dozens of books and thousands of pages, each and every one of them a true gem of the ages. In those books -considered ‘the premiere self-help collection of all times’- Marden was able to capture the essence of life, self-development and true success.
Although they are one hundred years old, his message is so current, that it seems to have been written precisely for our convulsed time. A time where, more than ever, we need perseverance, we need achievement, we need happiness and we need love.
The broadness of Marden’s education in history, philosophy, spirituality and more, and his ability to condense and transmit knowledge with remarkable clarity, and in an entertaining and engaging way, make these readings a requirement for whoever in this life is searching for success, or just looking for life’s answers.

Orison Swett Marden (1850-1924) was an American writer associated with the New Thought Movement. He also held a degree in medicine, and was a successful hotel owner.

Marden was born in Thornton Gore, New Hampshire to Lewis and Martha Marden. When he was three years old, his mother died at the age of 22, leaving Orison and his two sisters in the care of their father, a farmer, hunter, and trapper. When Orison was seven years old, his father died from injuries incurred while in the woods, and the children were shuttled from one guardian to another, with Orison working as a "hired boy" to earn his keep. Inspired by an early self-help book by the Scottish author Samuel Smiles, which he found in an attic, Marden set out to improve himself and his life circumstances. He persevered in advancing himself and graduated from Boston University in 1871. He later graduated from Harvard with an M.D. in 1881 and an LL.B. degree in 1882. He also studied at the Boston School of Oratory and Andover Theological Seminary.

This is the 15th book I have read written by Orison Swett Marden. My interest in Marden started when I noticed a quote in another book I was reading. Looked up Marden on Amazon and the rest is history. I can't get enough of his books!

Marden's books all contain information that back in the 1890s through 1911 all related to those times and how people were squandering all the wonderful advancements in literature that clearly shows the pathway to success yet are being ignored. In over 100 years, nothing has changed.

This is another one of his writings that every youngster beginning at 10 or 12 through high school should read AND STUDY. Marden discusses all things leading to the development of a person's character and how a person's character can lead to becoming the optimal man or woman.

Each of his many books thus far can stand alone where you don't need to read one to get the message of another. But when all of his books are taken into context, they provide a constant and repeated theme on the need for a personal plan to secure the success everyone desires.

I love the way Marden writes. Easy to read and follow. Each sentence/paragraph could almost stand alone as a memorable quote. I could not recommend his writings, all of them, any more. Everyone should read them. You will discover as I have that a great many books written much later in time and more recently have already been written by Marden. Sadly the trials facing young people in Marden's time still apply today. We as a society have learned very little over the past 100 years.

Timeless Truths

This is a good read. As a Christian, it reminded me of my divinity within and God's plan for my prosperity. It is a really good book even if you're agnostic because the principles are universal. it was written long ago (hence all the male language and "he" pronoun usage) but I find the basics are timeless. This book will encourage you for sure!

A good book, straight to the point with some repetition but done in a way that reinforces the message. I first listened to 'He can who thinks he can' and liked the style, then I purchased books from Orison Swett Marden. I found two large tomes with 7 of his books inside and I'm glad to say this is but the first one. Great anecdotes and great flow in these books. I recommend them.

In this book, the nuance of new age belief felt on the beginning of this book. The last part more on motivation how to success. If you read the other books by the same author, you would find that basically the content more or so the same, only the change of sentences and examples.

This book too talks about the power of the mind to attract anything and everything. It talk about why men do not achieve whatever they are capable of and how a slight shift in mindset can change all that.

I will recommend this book to everybody. A must read.
