The greatest gift at Christmas is love. Love is all around you. It’s never too late.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I haphazardly added it only because it was a Christmas book and it has a high rating here on Goodreads. Also, my friend Cara wrote a wonderful review about it so I thought I'd give it a chance. When I cracked it open I was dismayed to see it was a Lifetime movie because I despise them. But this was unexpectedly different and I think I enjoyed it so much because of the "A Christmas Carol" vibes. The 1951 movie version with Allistar Sim is the best Christmas movie ever made...there I said it!

I loved that the romance wasn't central to the story. In fact, it's hardly there at all until the end. This is not your typical cheesy, schmaltzy Christmas story and that was a very festive surprise. The story has a sad background because our main character, Alexis lost both her parents on Christmas Eve twenty years ago. She now despises Christmas and anything that has to do with the holiday so she focuses solely on work. She isn't very nice to her employees or herself for that matter. Will visiting the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future heal Alexis's heart which has frozen over? You'll have to read the book to find out.

Do go and read Cara's review by clicking her name. It is much better than mine. Thank you Cara for bringing this book to my attention.

Yeah this was a good one.

This was such a heart sting puller 😫 I reallllly enjoyed reading this!! Although it was sad, it was also so touching.

It was slightly repetitive, this author really loved the word “incredulous”. That aside it was a very lovely Scrooge retelling. I guess now I should watch the movie.

Not a whole lot of reviews, but it's supposed to be a scrooge retelling! I have high hopes!

Every Day is Christmas is a new book coming out based on the movie that Karen Schaler wrote a few years ago by the same name. As with her other works, this is a heartwarming Christmas tale sure to bring a smile. But not at first. This is based on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The Scrooge is Alexis Taylor who threw herself into her career twenty years ago when her parents died on Christmas Eve, forsaking love, friends, or anyone who could leave her. And she especially does not celebrate Christmas personally. She owns a very successful finance company and lacks nothing monetary. An interesting Christmas Eve visitor or two helps her put her life into perspective and helps her see where her future is heading. Lovely ending.
I received a copy of the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts.

“You make time for the people who matter most.”

This retelling of Dickens’ classic, ‘A Christmas Carol,’ has all the feels, making it a perfect holiday read. Interestingly, this book came AFTER Schaler’s movie!

Upfront and honest: I dislike retellings. BUT this one won over my heart. I loved the characters and their development. In fact, I’d watch the movie after reading this book…something I rarely do. The cover of this book features the Christmas ornament showcased in the movie.

Alex Taylor is the perfect Scrooge; orphaned, workaholic, a loner, and commitment-phobic. She’s worked hard to make her company, Taylor Investments, one of the top financial firms in Atlanta. As everyone around her is gearing up their Christmas cheer, Alex finds ways to sidestep it while squashing her employees' reverie. Why? She couldn’t care less about Christmas! Gasp. In fact, “Merry Christmas” is not in her vocabulary. When she is visited by a ghost from her past, the experience transforms her and she begins to embrace the Christmas spirit, melting her frozen heart and allowing people to get close to her.

Despite knowing how it will all work out, the character development and love interest (aahhh, Justin) kept me turning pages. A little hesitant at first because I don’t care for retellings, this one softened my heart and I ended up loving this story about second chances, redemption, self-discovery and empowerment.

If you’re looking for an uplifting holiday read, this is it. There are recipes and exclusive photos from the movie included!

I was gifted this copy by HawkTale Publishing and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I received a free copy of, Every Day Is Christmas, by Karen Schaler, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Alexis is Scrooge in a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol. Orphaned in her early twenties, Alexis turned into Scrooge, she was all about work and making money. Alexis is lucky to have such dedicated staff, who didnt complain too much when she wants then to work Christmas, and no bonus this year. I liked this retelling of the classic, A Christmas Carol. I look forward to watching the movie this Christmas.

Everyday is Christmas is the latest release from Karen Schaler, arguably one of the Queens of Christmas. Her stories are Hallmark worthy, truly. In fact, most have been made into movies on the festive channel and this story is no different. This is a modern-day Christmas Carol retelling to the T.

In this Christmas story, we follow Alexis Taylor, who after a tragic accident years ago, lost both of her parents. In order to deal with the pain, she hardened her heart to Christmas and to love and has turned her sole focus on building her company and making money, the only thing she believes she can count on. With this mindset, she has alienated her employees and does not tolerate Christmas in any form, unless it serves as a marketing tool. Like the famous tale, on Christmas Eve, while working late into the night, she receives a visit from her deceased mother who takes her on a journey of her life, helping her see that life is not worth living without love and joy, even at the risk of losing both.

This story is a very quick, predictable read, but also charming in it’s simplicity. I found the mother a bit odd and immature at times, but overall, this was a sweet story with a feel-good conclusion.

"Every Day Is Christmas" by Karen Schaler is a heartwarming and heartfelt holiday do-over story that revolves around Alexis Taylor, a shrewd money manager who prides herself on being a workaholic and "humbugging" Christmas and love. For Alexis, the only holiday tradition is breaking up with her boyfriends right before Christmas, keeping her heart closed off.

However, everything changes for Alexis when she receives a holiday visit that turns her world upside down. Her past, present, and future collide, forcing her to confront her choices and the walls she has built around her heart. As she goes on a journey of self-discovery and transformation, Alexis learns that there are some things money can't buy, including the power of true love and the magic of Christmas.

Inspired by Karen Schaler's beloved Lifetime Christmas movie "Every Day Is Christmas" and the classic "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, this novel is a heartwarming tale of redemption, family, and second chances. The story embraces the spirit of Christmas, emphasizing the importance of love, hope, and the belief in miracles.

Karen Schaler's signature warmth and humor shine through in her writing, making the characters relatable and endearing. Readers will find themselves immersed in the festive ambiance and touched by the messages of empowerment and transformation.

The inclusion of bonus content, such as exclusive movie photos, Christmas recipes, and holiday activities, adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the book, making it a delightful experience for readers seeking a heartwarming holiday romance.

"Every Day Is Christmas" celebrates the magic of the holiday season and the power of love to change lives. It is a perfect choice for fans of Christmas romances, and anyone looking for a feel-good story filled with hope, love, and the joy of Christmas miracles.

Every time Karen Schaler announces a new Christmas book, it automatically becomes one of my most anticipated releases of the year! I’ve read all of her books and enjoyed them very much. They are always filled with Christmas spirit and Christmas cheer. This one was no different. It was the perfect book to read on Christmas Eve since it is a retelling of A Christmas Carol and I always enjoy reimaginings of that classic story. The story was fairly short, but there was a lot of character development in Alexis. I also liked that the ghosts were her parents which gave the story a more personal touch. As always, there were a ton of Christmas elements which I loved. This was such a poignant story and I can’t wait to see what Karen Schaler will release next!

3.5 rounded up. Thank you NetGalley for my ARC. This book was basically a modern retelling of a Christmas carol. I really enjoyed the story and the characters in it but I tend to prefer Christmas stories that don't use the Christmas carol plot line as I feel it's over done at times. If you enjoy spins on a Christmas carol this is the book for you! It's fun, cute and has a lot of Christmas elements sprinkled throughout. I want the gingerbread cinnamon pancake recipe sooo bad cause they sounded delicious!! The ending was cute but I wish it had an epilogue at the end to give me a little more

A lovely Christmas read. A brilliant twist on a Christmas classic.

Alexis has a very heartbreaking back story, and I loved how her ‘ghosts’ were her parents and they still led from their hearts and showed her love and understanding. Sometimes I think if we all had the chance to step outside ourselves and view situations and people we might make better and more considerate decisions.

A very easy read that filled me with the Christmas spirit.

I enjoyed this book! While it was super predictable because the Scrooge story is done all the time, I found myself enjoying it anyways. It tugged on my heart strings big time. Very festive and heart warming. A true reminder to choose love in this day and age.

I wanted to read this book as I saw that the author was the writer of ‘A Christmas Prince’ on Netflix and I love that film series! Whilst this book was a quick and easy ready, it wasn’t quite the heartwarmer I was expecting.

Every Day Is Christmas is a modern take on A Christmas Carol. Alexis is a high flying corporate genius, the only thing she loves is money, and she is absolutely vile to her co-workers. It’s Christmas Eve and she has just refused to give her staff their annual bonuses and she is forcing them to come back into work on Christmas Day or else they’ll be fired. That is until she is confronted by two figures from the past that evening - her parents who died twenty years ago. As her parents guide her through her past, present and future - Alexis starts to realise just what kind of person she has become. Can she change her ways to avoid a future of loneliness?

To me, it just felt like Alexis had a complete personality transplant and I didn’t find it a believable transformation. I understand that the death of her parents at Christmastime was the catalyst for becoming the way she is, but it just seemed like a very dramatic change, and then the change after the visit from her parents also just seemed like too much. I also didn’t one hundred percent buy into the Alexis and Justin romance - considering that they had shared zero aspects of their personal lives with one another until that moment, I don’t know how they could know that they were ‘in love’, given that they don’t actually know each other!

Obviously the Scrooge aspect is always a winner, but I think it needs to be done a little bit better than this to really resonate. But like I said, a quick and easy ready, with all the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future vibes!

I’ve read and enjoyed Karen Schaler’s previous holiday novels, and this new book, based on the script she wrote for the Lifetime movie, was a wonderful experience.

Inspired by the timeless masterpiece, Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, “Every Day is Christmas” offers a rollercoaster of emotions!

At first, Alexis Taylor comes across as the worst boss one could get. A combination of Scrooge and the Grinch who’s tone deaf to her employee’s aspirations for a healthy work-life balance. Considering how far the lead character has to go to redeem herself, I was seriously wondering how Schaler’s would pull off a credible character development and actually make me appreciate this really off-putting character. And she did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed this festive, feel-good read about second chances.

Alexis’s journey to realizing the errors of her ways and bettering herself was a heartwarming tale. The whole background story about her parents was so poignant. In the end, everything ties well together, the story is told with an entertaining, consistent pace. I also loved how the author solved the Marc/Justin situation. The ending was romantic and satisfying, giving all the cozy vibes.

Boasting a beautiful cover, Every Day is Christmas is an uplifting must-read for the holiday season!

Karen Schaler delivers an early Christmas treat in the form of her latest novel, Every Day Is Christmas. A modern, re-imagined take on Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, this one spreads joy from beginning to end.

Alexis has never once celebrated Christmas in the years since her parents were tragically taken from her in an accident during the festive season. Vowing to work hard and build a successful life for herself in spite of being alone, Alexis builds a financial empire that rivals the very best. This modern day Scrooge will soon realize, though, that all the riches in the world mean nothing if you don't have anyone to share them with.

I love Karen Schaler's books, and always look forward to sinking into one as an early holiday treat. Once again, this latest is as cosy as being wrapped in a cashmere blanket while nibbling on a shortbread cookie. And I am absolutely going to add crushed candy cane to my favourite recipe!

Many thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this title.

"Every Day is Christmas" by Karen Schaler presents a charming and fresh retelling of "A Christmas Carol." The story's strength lies in its deeply developed characters who evoke a strong emotional connection, making their holiday transformations both captivating and heartwarming.

The novel's pace is swift and engaging, allowing it to be devoured in just 24 hours, perfect for those looking for a cozy, quick read during the holiday season. However, this brisk tempo sometimes leaves a desire for deeper character interactions, which could further enrich the narrative.

Overall, Schaler's novel is an enchanting and modern take on a classic story, blending festive spirit with heartfelt moments. Its captivating charm makes it an ideal read for embracing the Christmas spirit.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about a retelling of A Christmas Carol since it’s been done so often but this one has a twist to the story that I loved.

I went in with a certain expectation and when the story flipped I was instantly hooked and couldn’t stop reading.

Another Christmas Classic and one of my favourite retelling of A Christmas Carol.

P.S A great song to listen to in the last few chapters is “A Little Bit of Christmas” by Jim Brickman featuring Kris Allen. It just fit so well with Alexis’ journey

Thanks to HawkTale Publishing and NetGallery for his eArc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Enjoyed the book tremendously. Alexis reminds me of someone in our family; a classic workaholic. The meetings of past, present, and future is something I wish we all could do. The world would be a happier place. She needed a boot in the pants and the ghosts provided that. Christmas is a time for family and Alexis with help from Dickens has one now. I’m glad I started my Christmas reading with this.

A very unique and clever take on the Charles Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol". The protagonist, Alexis, is a mean Scrooge that her employees fear and despise. However one magical Christmas Eve, Alexis is reunited with her parents who have been deceased for 20 years. We readers are treated to the great side of Alexis that had been bottled up since her parent's tragic death 20 Christmas' past. Great read.

I’m not sure why this book was titled Every Day is Christmas because there was no repeated day scenario, no one said that phrase, or even alluded to it as being the lesson. Anyways, the book was fine. It was basically a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, which is a common Christmas trope, but made it very predictable and not really unique. Entertaining enough since I listened to it as an audiobook, but I wouldn’t have been very interested if I had read it on paper probably.

"You have to look like money to make money."

"The more decorations, the Merrier!"

"If I was going to bet on someone, I'd bet on myself."

Alexis shook her head. “Because anything is possible at Christmas,” Lydia said. “This is the one time of year when miracles can happen. Everything can change. You just have to believe.”
