Monsters are real. For Emily and Jeremy, the price of this truth was extremely high. Ten years after their mother's death, they hunt these creatures. But every once in a while, they become the hunted. When Emily finds herself in trouble, who will save her?
“This glance into Alexandra Nisneru's mind left me reeling. I can’t wait to see where she goes from here.” – MIKE BIRD, Author, Nineteen Vignettes
“This novelette from Alexandra is an engrossing, exciting read, and I still can’t believe it's her debut! Monster hunters, Jeremy and Emily, take on the world and the horrific creatures inhabiting it, the story leading to a gripping climax. If this is Alexandra's first published project, from now on, we can be in for a treat with each new story she brings to us. Our only concern is that not too much time occurs between releases. Off to a great start!” – JUSTIN BOOTE, Author, They are all monsters
"An excellent debut that'll have you on the edge of your seat the entire time." - BORIS BACIC, Author, Retown
Alexandra Nisneru's 'Hunt' is a superbly edited, sweet little story, vey much reminiscent of the TV series "Supernatural" (there's even a funny nod to Dean Winchester's love for large burgers!): here we have a brother and sister who've taken up monster-hunting after their mother was killed by a vampire. They go after a demon, but something entirely different comes up on the way - something to do with what's on that wonderful cover! The action scenes are precisely described, the pacing, for a short story, is perfect, and there's a decent preparation for a whole series of such little episodes (with a major hint dropped about the sister!) I only wish it had been a bit longer! Thanks to the author for the ARC.
A good debut by Alexandra. I tend to read more horror than fantasy, but this was a nice change of pace. I enjoyed experiencing some new types of supernatural's that I hadn’t come across before. The brother sister dynamic of the main characters worked well. I’d have liked to have seen the characters fleshed out a little more but considering this is the authors first release, it’s a fun quick read.
I had the previously of being an ARC Reader for this book and I’m so glad I was!
I straight away thought of the tv series Supernatural when reading the beginning of this and especially the part about burger and pie! Niceeeee!
However this story follows a brother and a sister whose mum is murdered by a vampire and the siblings need to ‘Hunt’ him down and avenge their mother! Their dad is not on the scene and hasn’t been since day dot so the siblings go from state to state hunting and slaying monsters along the way.
This book was very short but very interesting and it kept you wanting to know more and more, I’m very excited to read the next book in the series and learn more about these characters and their story along the way!

A brother and sister monster hunting duo began after the unfortunate death of their mother. On the road to find the demon, they find theirselves face to face with something they have not faced before. Stakes are high, and it's fighting or die! Immediately had the feel of Supernatural, and it sent me back to growing up with Dean and Sam and just wanting to be a hunter myself. It's infused with different creatures from myths, legends, and folklore. Fast-paced and very detail. Reading the ARC I found myself turning the page and wanting more. I cannot wait to see where this journey takes Jeremy and Em and I cannot wait for the release to have my own physical copy of this book and any addition to it!
Emily cannot forgive herself for the death of her mother, killed whilst protecting her from a monster. Now Emily and her brother, Jeremy are now continuing their mother’s legacy as a monster hunter but sometime the monster hunts you right back!
This is a punchy little novelette that is fun and fast paced. The monsters here are beautiful and deadly and their fight is fabulous. The sibling relationship is great and I look forward to seeing this developed in future stories. A fantastic debut, can’t wait for more!
“Well, you know, we don’t have the luxury of a normal life. Hunters don’t retire from this job; they die doing it. We’ll keep doing what we’re doing and try to stay alive”
A supernatural tale infused with creatures from myth, legend, and folklore.
We follow a pair of Hunters as they try to track down a Demon. While on the road they encounter another malicious monster and find their lives and the lives of their allies hang in the balance. They need to fight and win or die trying.
This was a short, fast paced story and I’m excited to see what the author writes next for these characters!
If this is the start of a series, I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next. This is solid storytelling with well-crafted characters and sufficient action to keep me turning the page. Genuinely looking forward to this author's next title.
I had the privilege of reading this before publication as an ARC reader. This debut novel gave me vibes of the brother Grimm tales. It is beautifully written, Alexandra Nisneru has mastered the ability to provide plenty of suspense, but also allows readers a moment to pause and really take in what has unfolded. I really liked the fact that the Alexandra made it clear to readers when the characters were in the present, and when they were reliving something from the past. I cannot wait to see what else Alexandra creates.
The cover is beautiful and was what drew me to the book. I also like the idea of a fantasy creature that is not used a lot. The story has a lot of charming elements to it. I also agree with the foreword that is scary to put your work out there for the world to see.
With that said, I think this book could have benefitted from some beta readers. It starts with the character waking up and would have grabbed my attention better with a more original start. I also noticed a few errors, mainly surrounding dialogue, but I know it’s tough to catch everything. There was also a lot of telling instead of showing as well as the use of filter words and back story.
I think the story has a lot of potential and could be expanded on after some revisions.
A monster hunting brother/sister team take on the world. A quick, fast-paced book that tells a great story! I enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing an arc with me Alexandra! Highly recommend giving it a read when it’s released.
"Hunt" by Alexandra Nisneru is an engaging foray into the supernatural thriller genre, balancing the tension of a good hunt with the emotional depth of personal loss and vengeance. Nisneru crafts a world where the lines between human and monster blur, and where family ties are tested by forces both otherworldly and painfully human. The narrative is well-paced, with the kind of crescendoing tension that compels readers to turn pages deep into the night.
The author's portrayal of the Kitsune mythology is both a highlight and a distinctive feature, offering a refreshing break from the more commonly represented supernatural beings. It's evident that Nisneru has done their homework, weaving folklore seamlessly into a modern thriller narrative.
That being said, the novel could benefit from deeper character development. While the main characters are compelling, there are moments where their emotional responses feel slightly surface-level. The dialogue, while brisk and fitting for the genre, sometimes falls into familiar patterns that could be revitalized with sharper, more distinctive voices for each character.
The prose is solid and functional, though at times it leans on telling rather than showing. Allowing the reader to infer more about the characters' internal states through their actions rather than exposition could enhance the connection to the narrative. Furthermore, some additional background on the Kitsune's origins and their world could provide a richer context for the reader.
In terms of recommendation, "Hunt" is a strong choice for fans of urban fantasy and supernatural thrillers. It's a tale that manages to be both intimate in its portrayal of a sibling relationship and expansive in its mythological underpinnings. For those looking for a new twist on the genre, "Hunt" is a worthwhile read that promises and delivers excitement and a touch of the exotic.
Nisneru shows promise and potential in the genre, and with some refinement in character depth and a more show-don't-tell approach, their future work could easily be a five-star contender. As it stands, "Hunt" earns a solid recommendation for its gripping plot and inventive use of myth in a contemporary setting.

A new voice has emerged! This is Alex's first published work but it doesn't read like a first work, it's not clunky, in fact it flows as if Alex has been writing and publishing books for decades which is a testament to the talent she possesses. I am lucky because I work with this talented young lady on a daily basis and know that she doesn't realise how good her writing is and how far she could go with the right backing by a major publisher in the UK. So Alex please keep writing as you have what it takes, you just need to believe in yourself as I and many more will also believe in you and please don't be too embarressed when you read this as it's not my intention, i just want you to know that you have a talent and i for one can see and appreciate it. Aaron.
This short story is smoothly written with likable characters. The beginning of the story has strong Supernatural Vibes if the Winchester Brothers except in the story it's a brother and sister monster hunting team. The second half of the story features a husband and wife that help the brother and sister with the main conflict.
Simply put Supernatural meets the Grim.
It was a fast action pace story. That was predictable throughout. Lovers of Supernatural and Grim will really enjoy this story. This is a cozy story that I did not find that scary. I Recommend this story. It's a solid 4 star.

I received this book as an ARC and so happy I had the pleasure of reading it early.
I was looking for a short read in-between the series I have been binging and I was not disappointed. This book brought me back to when I was binge watching Supernatural in my teen years.
The story is of a brother and sister who team up to track down the vampire that murdered their mother while hunting other monsters on the journey. For being such a short book, there was a lot that went on and it had me in a chokehold where I couldn't put the book down for the life of me! The author did an amazing job and I definitely recommend this read.
When I first saw the cover of this book I was immediately drawn to it! I love fantasy and any fantasy that also has a spooky aspect to it is a yes for me. This story was fast paced yet each page kept your attention and you couldn’t help but fall in love with the female main character Emily. I was so glad to see that at the end there was mention of more stories following her and her brother Jeremy because the only downfall for me was that this story wasn’t longer!
I flew through this little creature feature! Fast paced and left me wanting more. Reminiscent of the TV show "Supernatural". Instead of 2 brothers, we meet a brother and sister duo on the "Hunt" for a demon. What they find instead is a type of shape-shifter. It was a unique and imaginative take on shape shifter lore. The fight scene was spectacular. Looking forward to reading more about Em and Jeremy. I sense more fantastic adventures are the way!

A Supernatural style duo of brother and sister drive across the states in an old car, even stopping at diners where the brother orders loads of pie! I was intrigued and stuck in by page ten. I really enjoyed following this pair as they set out to locate a particular demon wreaking havoc in Louisiana. As they discuss their current mission, danger finds them sooner than they expected. I am looking forward to the next installments to see how the events in this story effect the siblings’ future!
After devouring your book, I discovered a wealth of useful hunting information comparable to what I read in the recent https://www.agmglobalvision.com/how-t... article on mouflon hunting. Each page became a source of valuable knowledge, expanding my experience and deepening my understanding of hunting strategies. Both publications have combined to enrich my knowledge and I am now ready for new hunting challenges.
Supernatural meets Grimm! Any fans of either show, Hunt is a must read! I was gripped from the very beginning and love the vibes that Alexandra Nisneru brings to this short TAIL. 😉 Duo hunter team, brother Jeremy and sister Emily are monster hunters seeking revenge for deaths of the human race. I can't wait to read more of the stories to come involving this duo!
Finished this in one sitting, and now I need more!! This debut novella is a fast-paced fantasy horror thrill ride that reminded me of Supernatural (TV show) & Hansel & Gretel (movie). The characters are believeable... Emily & Jermey are such a fun duo! What I love the most about the story is the monsters. They are refreshingly original. My only question is... when is the next one?
Supernatural Horror isn't my typical genre to read, BUT, being a short read, I wanted to give it a chance. WELL, I AM SO GLAD I DID. I feel like I just watched an episode of Supernatural with a hint of True Blood involved. Highly recommend if supernatural horror is your thing. Such a beautiful story!
This is an enticing novelette about Hunters, Monsters and how major life changes can have a lasting impact on its survivors. This short fantasy was packed with action and suspense that kept me turning the pages to see what happened next!
This was an awesome and quick read. It really left me wanting more. It was action-packed with very few if any, slow spots. I think the main characters where well developed their back story made me route for them. I honestly want more
Short novel but definitely kept me wanting the next book in the story! I need to know about Jeremy and Emily adventures. I never encountered a kitsune in books before but I loved it! The book cover is superb.
I liked the dynamic between the brother and sister fighting against evil and trying to avenge their mother. It is full of action and suspense, not a dull moment while reading! Nicely done, Alexandra! Can't wait to read about their new adventure!
I don’t usually read much if any fantasy but I do occasionally read horror. The cover of this book is what drew me in. It is absolutely gorgeous. I did enjoy Emily and Jeremy’s story. It was different and I’m glad I had the opportunity to read something out of my comfort zone.
Great short story about siblings who hunt monsters. As a debut, Alexandra did an amazing job and she definitely has the talent to make it in this crazy indie world.
