Make and freeze recipes by Mara Michaels
Book starts out with meals and food categories for recipes.
Lots of intro material about how to make large quantities of food and what's best to use that also freezes well.
Some preserve recipes start with a title, servings and list of ingredients. What I Love about the ones I read through is that they are using fresh vegetables, NOT canned and lots of herbs and spices.
Directions are given and there are suggestions for deeper sauce or chunky sauce and how to put seasonings in for make it just right.
Tells you also how long the item will freeze for and how to make it once you take it out of the freezer.
Meal recipes start with a title and list of ingredients and how to make them. Doesn't tell yo how many the item will make and there are NO pictures and there is NO nutritional information.
Like the idea of the added recipes, tomato sauce, salsa because you might not always have it on hand.
Book also includes further reading suggestions and newsletter sign up offer.

Not for me

Most of the recipes did not appeal to me
Good for families, not a single person who is looking for healthy options

None of these recipes were anything new or different. There were no tips that were of any interest to me.

On page 73 there is a recipe for FAST AND TASTY MEATLOAF. It calls for 2 lbs. of ground chuck plus a couple of other ingredients. Then you freeze it - RAW. Here are the rest of the instructions:

To heat again, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
• Spray a 9 x9-inch baking pan slightly with a non-stick cooking spray.
• Take the meatloaf out of the freezer bag. Unwrap the meatloaf and place in the pan.
• Bake 1 hour 30 minutes or until set.

Really? 1 hour 30 minutes cooking time for an uncooked FROZEN meatloaf? I DON'T THINK SO! That is how long I cook a meatloaf when I use ingredients straight from the refrigerator!

And why does the recipe say “to heat again”? Were you supposed to cook it before you froze it? The recipe did not instruct you to do so. Jeez, did anyone proofread this book?

It was at this point that the cookbook lost all credibility for me. I wouldn’t trust any of these recipes.

I was impressed with how clear and well-written this book is and how well all the recipes I tried came out, right after being cooked, and also after being frozen. I can make my own 'TV dinners' from scratch now using all fresh ingredients and know exactly what is in them. GREAT for people with any food allergies. Busy people can live better for less and feed their whole family well. The recipes were written very clearly for even a beginner cook, so they can get good results.
